Amazing dinner, attentive staff, and delicious food! A place with flavor that you can't find elsewhere in town. A hidden gem, make sure you use your GPS if you are visiting. We will be back for more!

I first tried Mawa's brunch through take-out in the midst of summer 2020 COVID restrictions, and even in that context, the salmon benedict was amazing. I just tried in-person dining there on 6/28/21 and had the same dish, this time with a cocktail (something like a French 75), and the experience was even better. I'm sold on Mawa's benedicts on homemade potato latkes instead of English muffins. Eventually I will try some of the other menu items and perhaps even a different meal like dinner, but for now, Mawa's salmon benedict is a must-have every time I'm in Aspen! I also indirectly experienced the pleasure of Mawa's bubbly personality during the pandemic when she led an online dinner cooking class in which my young nieces participated. Was as entertaining as the food was delicious (ceviche, lomo saltado).

This is absolutely one of the best dinners we’ve had in our two weeks in Aspen. It’s outside the main town, but well worth the trip and probably underrated given the location. While sort of funky in terms of decor, you come for the food and service! Dinner was absolutely delicious. We started with the bread course which could easily serve four. We then had a summer salad which again, could easily serve split for three or four split. My wife had the chipotle shrimp which is served on a bed of mango and she loved it. I had the west African gumbo, which has a generous amount of fish and sausage, so plentiful that I couldn’t even begin to touch the side of rice. The service was incredibly intentive and responsive, with constant refills on the water. The only thing missing is that they don’t have nonalcoholic beer which I would’ve appreciated, given the spice of the food. We liked it so much that we came back the next day for breakfast, with a very diverse menu, and delicious as well!

In this restaurant, almost each table has an air outlet directly pointed onto. When we had dinner there last night, they turned on AC to very low temperature that made five of us extremely chilly that we had to put our down jackets on. A young man (could be the manager but not sure) was very rude to us and arguing with us. The food is very expensive with very poor taste. They charge $30 for a ramen noodle but the way they cooked is nothing to do Japanese ramen noodles! I am sure they don't know what the real ramen noodles are or never even tasted (lol). They even added 20% service charge on our bill which is mandatory and didn’t give us prior notice. If they didn’t do so, we would have paid zero tip for such poor service and bad food!

Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry that the temperature of the room was not to your liking. We have a automatic controlled Air filtration system that no one has control over. As for the Ramen, as you know there are many ways ramen can be cooked based on the country. The menu does not state we serve a Japanese style ramen. However you must have enjoyed the ramen since I watched you finish the whole bowl during your dining experience. The menu stats that if you are dining with us in a party of 5 or more that there is a 20% gratuity charge just like every other establishment in the country.

I’ll start with the positive: the food is rather good. But the service is SO BAD and SO SLOW it often ruins the food and experience entirely! I’ve been to Mawa’s numerous times and unless you’re the only table there (which is almost impossible To time)... you’re very likely going to be neglected by the staff as they mope about. It consistently takes 10-25 minutes to get the check once finished eating and if it’s crowded the food will take 30-45 minutes. Today was the last straw - not sure I will return because the food sadly just isn’t worth the slow and bad service.

Dear Accreditedfood - Foodie, Thank you for your visit. I am sorry to hear that you had an unpleasant experience. Thank you for your feedback. I can ensure my staff didn't purpously made you wait or neglected you. Again, my apology if you felt that way. That been said, we are short staffed, and the wait times are longer then normal this summer, as we are a popular place and a small business. Thank you again and hope to see you again soon in Aspen. Sincerely, Chef Mawa

This spot was pointed out to us by our Shuttle driver, we stayed at The Inn at Aspen, he had not been yet but mentioned anybody who had eaten there really enjoyed the food. Well....he was right! The staff was so kind and attentive(met 3 lovely workers from Bali who enhanced our experience completely). The Gnocchi's were amazing as well as our wine, the peach salad was so delicious. We met some of the Mahwah family the next morning at the Farmer's market and was handed a gift of their trail mix they sell at the restaurant....best trail mix I have ever had!!! Go check this place out you will not be disappointed!

Thanks to a friend's recommendation (her sister Kim works here), we ordered from Mawa's Kitchen just as we were leaving Maroon Bells. The food was ready shortly after we arrived! There was a lovely outdoor seating area. Masks inside. (Ah, the days of COVID.) I had a Mawa's grilled cheese sandwich (avocado, spinach, pesto, and mozzarella). Yum! My husband doesn't like pesto, so fun times! I got the whole thing to myself. WOOT!

We visited for the reviews we found online and we really did not enjoy our meal. The place itself is not easy to access as it is far from Aspen Main Street and the GPS might take you to a parking lot that’s kind of away and at a lower level from the actual entrance. Service was kind of sloppy and the food was salty. Looks like this place gets most of its business out of catering for private jets. Can easily skip.

The food was actually quite good. But I’m giving them a 3/5 for first bringing me a rotisserie chicken sandwich that was different than what the menu described it as- they essentially stripped off everything else but the chicken leaving a dry non edible sandwich. After we let the waitress know, they replaced it with the right sandwich. Wonder how or why that happened in the first place?

A refreshing restaurant where we were greeted by multiple staff members upon entering. My husband and I stopped I. For brunch and had a delightful meal. The menu has quite an array of tasty items it was hard to decide. We also met the owners and they introduced us to the pancakes which we weren’t ordering but they landed on our table. The best pancakes were some of the best we’ve ever had! Will definitely be back next time in Aspen.

Food looked good but didn’t get to actually eat because despite calling them and again asking about nuts in the food because of my daughter’s nut allergy, there were nuts in her food and we had to do the epi pen/ER. Waiter and kitchen confirmed no nuts in the food but probably in the spice or there was cross contamination. Would try elsewhere if you have a nut allergy.

Great food at reasonable prices for Aspen/Snowmass. Made a reservation for 10 and they were kind enough to split the checks (we had 4 couples and 2 singles). The servers were excellent. The ambiance was quaint and quiet enough to enjoy conversation. Many of us had the $75 3-course off-season menu and thought it represented a great value (except for the upcharge for protein on the Vegetable Maffe - which priced less than the included salmon entree). The food was very good. There were only 2-items ordered by our group that were just OK (The peach burrata salad and the salmon). The black hummus, yucca fries, and shrimp appetizers were outstanding. The Vegetable Maffe/peanut curry and the Chicken Yassa were delicious. Desserts were homemade by the in-house pastry chef and were delightful! Would 100% dine there again!

We've scoped out Mawa's on previous Aspen visits and it's a bit off the beaten track but we finally made it there for breakfast. And is it ever worth the trip down to the airport business area!! This has to be one of the best pancakes I've ever eaten and we've eaten a lot of them all over the states and some international. I had the fonio pancakes and though not familiar with that grain it was delicious. Very healthy choice with lots of amino acids and nutrients and very filling. My dining partner had the buttermilk pancakes and they were like none other. The pancakes, plus 2 drip coffees was $49, before tip. A bit pricey for breakfast but in Aspen one can expect to pay resort prices, but there was a lot of value for the dollar. Would definitely return on our next visit.

A close friend wanted to try Mawa's for his birthday. That night was a prix fixe with a visiting chef from California working with Mawa. Both "chefs" spent the evening socializing in the dining area and not in the kitchen preparing our meals. Professionally speaking (retired from the hospitality industry and restaurant front of house) I do not know where Michelin came up with recommending the restaurant. Food was average/mediocre with one scallop dish served to us cool not hot. It's too bad, as Mawa has worked at trying to bring her hard earned experience to life. Coupled with the lack of anything inspiring from the kitchen the pricing for three people with three drinks was over $400. Will not repeat visit. Such a shame that this restaurant as with many in Aspen are way overpriced serving at best marginal meals.

Mawa’s is a few miles outside of central Aspen, but the menu looked interesting and different from the standard fare, so we went there for dinner while we were visiting Aspen. It was well worth it. I found it hard to decide on entrees, so many looked interesting, among them the African and Caribbean dishes. Our waiter took the time to patiently explain the dishes in response to our questions. My wife and I both found our meals to be delicious. Our waiter was extremely attentive, paying close attention to our pace and making sure we were enjoying our meal. The staff overall made every effort to assure that we felt welcome and had a good experience — in other words, we were treated like welcome guests, not just another couple dining out. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening out, and I highly recommend the restaurant.
