I have not been to Zocalito for a couple of years. When I was last there it was absolutely fantastic.Unfortunately, the overall quality has dropped a notch. I still love the Oaxacan spices they use and sell and will continue to buy them. But... Even though we had reservations, we opted to sit in the bar area as it was... More

Our neighbors (who come to Aspen quite often) suggested we give this restaurant a try. We are so glad we did. Everything was delicious and so different from anything we had eaten before! We ate chicken chile renellos, turkey tacos, a delicious chicken dish with a yellow mole sauce, and a wonderful duck dish! It was a cool evening, so... More

Being from California we LOVE our Mexican food and I was REALLY looking forward to some good spice and tasty food as there is nothing in Aspen. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation on a Tuesday night. We sat at our table for 20 minutes with just water and no service. Another 20 minutes and our order was finally... More

An informal recommendation led to a terrific experience. More than a Mexican restaurant, downstairs on a side street in Aspen, my friends and I all had sensational meals, preceded by imaginative appetizers with unusual peppers and sauces. The drink menu was also exceptional.

Comfortable colorful atmosphere with a great menu - it's hard to chose! Lots of tapas - shrimp cerviche, interesting tacos, grilled stuffed calamari, awesome tortilla soup, interesting entree salads and lots of interesting entrees - fish entrees are great - trout black cod and seafood stew.

Went with low expectations and still left disappointed. Guac and salsa is literally a dollup of crappy guacamole in a pool of bad salsa. Chicken Relleno was one lonely chile with no beans, rice, anything. Margaritas tasted like dish water even though it was ordered with top shelf tequila. And on top of it all service was unbearably slow and... More

This was a great find, Latin American food and cocktails, even a delicious non-alcoholic something mock tail for the driver.

I saw this place and as a good Mexican, everytime I see a "Mexican" restaurant, I want to see what are they offering. This time it was nothing but eye rolling up and down and a yes, we have a dark corner where you can sit lonely but you have to wait till everyone else (white people of course) here... More

Tucked downstairs in an alley off the Hyman pedestrian mall, Zocalito is the best bang for your buck if you're craving Mexican food in Aspen. The margaritas are fantastic, and the menu has a wide array of offerings to please all types. Don't expect dirt-cheap prices, as the menu reflects the general Aspen vibe, but the portions are fair for... More

My wife and I tracked down Zocalito's after hearing about it from another hotel guest at the Limelight. It is not easy to find. It is in the middle of a block in an alley and then down some stairs, but well worth the effort! We were not disappointed and our expectations were high! Mac tends the bar and does... More
