I head different experiences at the Auburn Alehouse. Staff is friendly. Typical bar atmosphere. Personally I don't care for the beer, but I don't like craft beers. Food is okay. Have had mixed experiences with service. Not very consistent.

Our English friends who are very used to Pubs were very impressed with both the food and on-site made beers!

Went with family on a Saturday night. Several of the items on the menu were unavailable. Several of the craft beers advertised were unavailable. Servers were inexperienced and got the beers we ordered mixed up. Rather noisy too.

The beers are plentiful and the food was ok. This is a good place to grab a beer and a bit to eat with the family. Our fall back place when we can't figure out anything else

We went on a Friday mid-afternoon in summer. It was crowded although half of the beers were sold out, leaving a mediocre selection. I tried the saison, which was more like a pale ale (not floral or peppery). Service was good and the food wasn't...More

Pub food lunch. Good sandwiches and on site brewery make for a pleasant lunch. I might say upscale pub food, I had Salmon sandwich, my friend had a 1/2 sandwich/salad combo, and his son had a Cheese Bread appetizer. Everyone was satisfied and full. The...More

Stopped by on way down the mountain. Vivirant and busy with nice atmosphere. List of beers is ok but food was average at best. Fish tacos were dry and mostly lettuce. Meat loaf sliders were pretty tasteless. Extra side of fries as a substitute for...More

Went on a Friday night, service was exceptional. My friend got the fried chicken and it was outstanding. They have a large selection of IPA beers. A must go if in Auburn!

At least six trips to the Alehouse have earned this long overdue review. This is a high-energy, loud place. You may wait a half hour or more during peak times (like after your Auburn Recreation Area day hike). Tip: Call ahead (they'll add your name...More

It's the Wandering Yank. I've been to the Auburn Alehouse at least a dozen times over the last 5 years, and this is my first review. I guess if I've been there at least a dozen times, you would assume that I really, really like...More

Brian & Lisa Ford opened Auburn Alehouse Brewery & Restaurant in 2007 in the iconic Shanghai Restaurant, embracing the building's character and colorful history in the heart of Historic Auburn. While enjoying their full bistro menu, patrons can often see Brian & his brewers making world-class beer in small batches, using only the finest malted barley and American-grown hops. With a collection of prestigious awards hanging on the wall it's easy to see why the SacBee recently said Auburn Alehouse is one of the region's premier craft breweries. Favorites include the Gold Digger IPA (CA State Fair Gold Medal Winner), Gold Country Pilsner (GABF Gold Medal Winner), Hop Donkey (GABF Silver Medal Winner) and PU240 IPA! Lunch and Dinner are served every day, while our Brunch menu is served on Saturday and Sunday from 9am-noon. Don't forget we have a dog friendly patio!
