An amazing dining experience with a fantastic ocean view. They have the BEST Chili Verde around!! It can get crowded fast, any day of the week, so plan ahead and make reservations.

The food is very good, it's pricey though. If you change anything out, they will charge you for it, for example: if you don't want beans and rice but veggies instead, you're charged extra money. If you are full from dinner but ask for dessert to go, you will be charged for the to go box. The margaritas are yummy!

Very upscale Mexican in beautiful location. Some unusual dishes and it was all quite good. Good service. Pricey but worth it.

Looking for an ocean view? Don't want to be in a "Big City"? Palapas, in Spanish a palapa is a thatch covered hut. In Seascape (Nine miles south of Downtown Santa Cruz), it is a quality restaurant with a professional staff. I wouldn't call it "cozy" but it has all of the features a tourist could want. The staff is... More

Not sure what's up with this place. Sometimes 4 star, sometimes so-so. Today was below average Service real slow, plus had to remind server multiple times for extra napkins/salsa. Entrees arrived room temp. My fish was not fresh(smelly). Not cheap either! Too bad, as We'd eat here more often if quality and consistency were good. We'll pass for a while... More

Mexican food is so diverse that ones' response is often a function of exposure to a particular region. There are 7 regional cuisines in Mexico but we Americans tend to think primarily in terms of Tex Mex or Sonoran although good representations of the actual Mexican regions are becoming more available here. With that said I am unable to characterize... More

Absolutely loved my birthday dinner celebrated at Palapas. We were promptly seated and greeted by a lovely waiter. The thing I noticed off the bat is the menu: a huge offering which was surprising for a Mexican themed restaurant. I will say we had vegetarian, gluten-free and Whole 30 plan eaters at the table and all three were able to... More

The food here is consistently good. Good enough that we come back even tho the service can be spotty. Sometimes, excellent service. Sometimes they seem overwhelmed and understaffed. Always friendly tho.

An excellent Mexican restaurant with moderate seasoning. Very good choice of fish and meat offerings. Reasonably priced with a very good ala carte option. Good bar area.

Thank Bill B
