Bittersweet Bistro is located right off the freeway just as you're pulling into the Rio Del Mar neighborhood of Aptos, CA which makes it a nice and convenient spot for travelers to take a break from their journey to grab some good grub. The restaurant has an indoor/outdoor restaurant option and the outside gardens are our favorite tables of choice.... More

FOR THE CAFE. Beyond wonderful. Food is amazing. All around. It did however take 20 minutes to get a couple hot chocolates and a mocha which is a little ridiculous. This is a MUST stop whenever we are staying anywhere in the General Aptos area. The staff is always happy and helpful.

Great menu selection. Everything we had was prepared perfectly and very reasonably priced. Nice little gem of a restaurant.

Happy Hour is the time to go. The drinks are the thing. The snacks and salads are rather overpriced. The bar can be noisy, but sometimes that's fun. A summer evening sitting outside the patio would be my first choice. And you may be interested in having someone tell you the history of the Bittersweet. Not many can top it.... More

But I am worried! So sad to see the service at Bittersweet Bistro go down hill. Bittersweet used to be one of my local favorites, but no more. The last few visits have been peppered with poor service and mishaps and tonight was absolutely the worst. It takes an awful lot to inspire a negative comment from me. I normally... More

The ambiance and the service in no way reflect the astronomical pricing for simple fare like salads and such.

Very nice place beautiful patio dining and great bar. They have these nightly nibbles all sorts of fun foods at great price. We love the tempura longbeans with spicy sauce. Fishnchips very good nice selection of wines, beers and creative cocktails. Super friendly and professional staff.

An updated review of a very good restaurant. Recently had dinner here and ordered the filet of sole on the smaller portion. what I got took me by surprise. A piece of fish approximately 2" wide by 2" long. In four bites I was done at a smaller dish price of $23.00. I found this rather strange as common sense... More

I guess it was about timing. My food was quite good, but my server seemed to have mentally clocked out about 45 minutes early. Lunch is served until 2:00 and I arrived at 1:10 and the level of service was in steady decline as her off hours neared. Not even an effort to offer to replenish my beverage until the... More

I really liked it. We had the fish taco salad and the fried chicken sandwich with fried avocado. They were very good. We also had the mouse chocolate and the bread pudding they were also very good. Service was excellent.
