The food was fine, nothing spectacular. Server was somewhat attentive... never refilled my water. After we were done there were 2 tables occupied and no server to be found to pay. I waited a while and finally... I had to get up and go pay at the cashier's directly.

The food is consistently good and the casual atmosphere makes for a lowkey dining option. (The ambiance is "unassuming", but if you want a comfier dining experience, you can do take-out.) The prices are very reasonable and it works for dinner or lunch.

I went here with friends when we couldn't get into our #1 choice. The food was okay, but I've had better Indian food in the Berkeley area. At the end of the dinner I saw a large white mouse or rat scramble across the floor so I wouldn't go back again!

They serve Northern Indian and Pakistan food and it is always tasty. Vegetarian dishes are plentiful and the beer cold and tasty. You can never go wrong at Cafe Raj.

I tried this place and the food was good but it didn't agree with me later. The restaurant is small but nice. I don't eat Indian food often so maybe the spices were too much.

If you like home cooked Indian Cuisine, Cafe Raj is for you. The food is authentic and taste heavenly and when you receive your bill, you'll be pleasantly surprised. It is really inexpensive. The atmosphere is joyful and the service is outstanding. My husband and I go there at least once each time we visit the East Bay of San... More

Friendly service, great food, large portions, and reasonably priced. The dishes are authentic Punjabi and Pakistani, and there's a wide range to select from on the menu. Everything is cooked fresh, and they let you choose your spice level when you order. I come especially for their vegetable dishes. This place is quite popular with the locals, lots of families... We wanted to love Cafe Raj, and would happily have settled for "like". We enjoy Indian food frequently and this place is within walking distance. But the food was really disappointing - bland, virtually identical neon yellow sauce on three very different entrees. Service was... quirky, I guess you could say. I was afraid our cranky waitress was going to... More
