Was taken here with friends on a weekend when a live band were playing, and while there was a queue to get in, it was well worth the wait. The atmosphere inside was great, the decor was great, the live band were great, the cocktails were great and yes it goes without saying, but...if you do visit this bar and... More

It's always tiki time whenever you can find a place as fun and festive as Forbidden Island! It lies on an unassuming stretch of Lincoln Avenue in heart of Alameda. I had been once before with a friends on a Sunday afternoon where it wasn't packed at all and we had a fun time sitting at the festively decked out... More

This place rocked and was well worth the little jaunt into Alameda from the city for. Dozens of different tiki drinks with interesting descriptions, and strengths listed by the number of skulls beside the name. Decor was like a period piece, with the walls full of great memorabilia, service staff dressed more or less in character, nice, friendly, fast service,... More

If you like tiki, rum drinks, nice appetizers with a great staff, this is the place to go. Located in a local neighborhood with plenty of street parking, locally owned and operated this is the place for great drinks in a great atmosphere. There is plenty of well decorated interior seating and an enclosed out side area when the weather... More

We stopped in here a couple of weeks ago for drinks before dinner, having been once quite a while ago and enjoying it. The atmosphere is great! There are Tiki figures all over, and a big collection of the kinds of glasses specialty drinks used to come in- parrots, Japanese figures, etc. They also have clips of old movies with... More

I tried to go the first time and they were closed for a private event. Fine... On my next trip to town, I was excited to try it again. I have an anxiety disorder and travel with a support dog. I specifically checked the website to see if dogs are welcome. This is from their site: Can I at least... More

We did a tour of the USS Hornet Museum, which put us in the mood for some South Pacific fantasies. What better to top off the day than a pilgrimage to a Tiki Bar? Bar did not open until 5PM, but that is when the Hornet closes, so it worked out great. Decor is great. Despite having a traditional Tiki... More

We've been here several times, the last time in mid-December two days before leaving to spend Christmas and New Years in Hawaii. No better way to start getting in the aloha spirit than one of their fantastic Mai Tais! If only they would serve decent pupus -- that would up their game by a lot. Still, great ambiance, deco and... A woman who was friends with the DJ took exception to my request to turn down the music (which was honoured) and fabricated complaint to have me and my quite party of four thrown out. Disgusted that the manager allowed this sort of bullying.
