Visited for first time in about 3 years. Really gone down hill. Tomato Basil soup was only thing that was about the same. Very good. The salad was ruined because it was swimming in dressing and watery. Probably the result of wet lettuce when dressed....It was described by waiter as balsamic vinaigrette, but it was not. It might have been ok though, if not over dressed and watery. The real problem was my entrée. The menu had pappardelle with shrimp in a cream sauce. The waiter said they were out of cream sauce so I asked it be made with marinara. When it arrived it was served on spaghetti. When I inquired, I was told that’s what they used for pappardelle. When I showed the waiter what it should look like on my phone, he said they didn’t have that. I thought to myself, well why is it on the menu if you don’t have it. Pretty bad when restaurant that bills itself as Italian doesn’t know one type of pasta from the next. The marinara sauce was bland and the shrimp were small. Probably would have done better at Olive Garden (which I don’t care for). My dining companions had Mamas Stuffed Peppers and the Lasagna Bianca. Those dishes looked better and they seemed satisfied. This restaurant is nothing like it was when Joe and his wife opened it many years ago. What a shame.More

This cozy place has some delicious dishes. The pasta was al dente and chicken was tender. Tomato basil soup had just the right spices and consistency. The ambiance was perfect with live music by accordionist Dick Tamburro (Fridays & Saturdays) who played some classics, such...as “That’s Amore.” The deserts - ginormous strawberry and chocolate cakes - are heavenly. This is a can’t miss place if you’re ever in southeast suburbs of Birmingham.More

Too bad they feel the need to charge additional for a side cup of red sauce at lunch! 🤨 It made the very delicious food less inviting. Our server was excellent!

Andy did a great job going above and beyond serving us tonight. I brought some out of town guests for dinner and they were impressed as well. The fried risotto balls were outstanding!

It was great to be able to make a reservation on a Saturday night to spend with friends. Andy took very good care of us from start to finish…from the bread and wine, salads, lasagna to the strawberry cake! And the accordion player provided excellent...background music and ambience.More

First sit down, great service and food; We ordered pizza for our first moving crew. Excellent service; ckd our order even helped us out to car; second not good, had to ask for a bag, (“a bag?” we were questioned) and no help out; order...was wrong, jalapeños added to a cab& pineapple, etc., Third time walked in to sit down for lunch and no acknowledgement whatsoever not even a “welcome, we’ll be with you in a minute” by the three folks who were there behind the counter. Bummer. We promptly walked out and went to Smiley Bros who by the way has had excellent service every time we have gone in. December 17 2021 at lunchtime.More

We have patronized Joe's since Joe and Mama opened the place and have thoroughly enjoyed it in the past. Not today! We met another couple there for lunch as we have many times in the past. Today's lunch was a disaster and that's being kind....The rating would be lower if not for past experiences. The restaurant was not busy and that should have been a clue for us as it is usually very busy. Our waitress was inefficient and did not seem to be familiar with the menu. Our orders finally came and two of the four were wrong and had to be sent back. A third, the signature lasagna, was cold as we could see it was sitting on the serving counter for at least five minutes. One of us ordered the chicken panini on the menu and was served a chicken parm sandwich. the explanation was that's the only chicken we have. When we asked for parmesan to be shredded on top of our meals, we were told that all three of their shredders were broken and were offered a shaker of store cheese. No management appeared to be around nor did the waitress seem to care either. It is a shame to see what was a great restaurant in the past decline so far, so fast. Will not return for a good while. There are other italian restaurants around who know how to prepare dishes adn care about the customer.More

Our lunch visit to Joe's Italian was a lot of fun. Our server, Bradley, was wonderful. We appreciated his humor, patience, recommendations, and familiarity with the menu. The restaurant facility itself is nice, but not remarkable when it comes to ambiance or decor. It's just...a so-so type of modified storefront building. Our meals were good. The alfredo and pesto sauces were tasty, and they paired well with our pasta dishes of tortellini and spaghetti. The pastas were a bit overcooked, almost to the point of going from al dente to soft and doughy. The strawberry cake we ordered for dessert was delicious and huge. A single "slice" could easily feed four adults. In the end, we may return for the friendly service and cake, but not for the meals.More

Headed on 65 South to my sister's for Christmas. Joe's has become a regular refueling stop for my wife and I. We arrived just minutes after they opened. Our waitress Bianca was outstanding. My cup never went empty and my food arrived hot. She was very attentive. We were seating without a long wait by Tracy who was phenomenal and made us feel like we were regulars even though this was our first...time here. The cashier was Shelly and she always had a smile on her face and made sure we had a great experience. Will absolutely eat here again. The cake is amazing and the food was so good.More
