Washington DC is such town with so many things to do but be sure to put this gem on your list! I sat at the bar and had the BEST bloody Mary I've ever had. The rim was coated with something I couldn't place... Turns...More

We loved this place. Our server was friendly and helpful, really on his game. The huge menu provided LOTS of health minded options. Our meals were tasty and filling, and afterwards we didn't feel gross and overstuffed. They source locally and clearly take pride in...More

This is a cool place located in a good part of town. The selection was good. What makes this place so special is the ambiance. Very hip and literate. Fun place to feel like a 60's beatnik. Well worth a visit.

Definitely one of our favorite restaurants from our trip. They have a ton of vegan options, which are insanely delicious. And the atmosphere is very cool. One half of the place is a book/poetry store and then there are couches/tables to eat at. So sad...More

A well-known historical and cult place, a colorful and very interesting interior that "sends instruction". If you want a more urban place, with lots of different people-welcome. Service is good, a little more waiting for food or drink. Interesting place. Ps.. Green salad could better...More

Our son took us for brunch. The food was fantastic with a cool atmosphere. One can shop in the bookstore while waiting for your table. If you want to eat at a non chain restaurant, I highly recommend this place.

Bookstore, restaurant, entertainment. Excellent menu options for everyone, including vegan options. Although not V/VG, my soup was flavorful and filling and my rustic grilled cheese with bacon and tomato was the best I've had. Everyone in the group was very happy with their food. This...More

There are still progressives in Washington, DC and they all eat at Busboys and Poets. It is one of my favorite neighborhood places - their sandwiches are particularly terrific - their staff is wonderfully friendly - and the atmosphere is inspiring.

So, I'm no hipster, but you can't argue with great food. My buddy and I were seated quickly and got quick, friendly service. I ordered some basic eggs, potatoes and bacon with toast. My buddy is vegan and ordered something ... vegany? My food was...More

It is about 16-18 minutes. That is only because of traffic. My friend picked me up and took me there. You can always get a taxi. For taxi prices, you are looking at $12-$15. We went on a Wednesday night around 7:00 PM and it... More

Grits may be but not sure about shrimp as they are served with a sauce that may contain flour. However they do have other GF choices.

Definitely call, but so many gluten free choices No on the reservations but wait was not horrible at 8:30 on a Friday night. Maybe 20 minutes. And you can get a drink at the bar or browser the books.
