I am surrounded by good Indian in New Jersey, which is the best outside of India. And yet, Rasika is the food that stirs my soul. I do hope that they are able to maintain steady business post COVID. They have very nice outside tented...seated for those of us who are still weary to spend our time inside. Everything that we had was beyond delicious from starters to delectable desserts. I have always been so reluctant to indulge in fish curries and the snapper pollichattu was probably the best fish dish that I've had all year in any circumstances. The cocktails and mocktails were cool and refreshing, not too sweet. The wine list perfectly matched to the food. I only wish I could have eaten more.More
My wife and I had dinner at Rasika yesterday and enjoyed our experience.
Service was top notch and attentive. Even continually refilling our water glasses without our asking.
We shared the Ragda Pattice appetizer which was a different type of dish but very tasty with...a bit of spicyness.
My wife ordered the duck vindaloo which was good however a little too spicy for her. She followed with the Malai Palek which was a smooth and delicious choice.
I had the chicken green masala which was a different. It had mint and coriander spices and was a trifle hot but which was very good
We also shared the mint paratha bread which was also unique and very tasty.
The restaurant has pretty decor and the outdoor dining also seemed worthwhile.More
Rasika is a gem! My family and I were fortunate to be there for the first night that several pandemic restrictions were relaxed. While the tables are more spaced out (a plus for me!), the quality of the food and service are top shelf as...ever. I knew it from the first taste of the signature chaat that they haven’t missed a beat. It is great for Washington dining that it has survived the last difficult stretch. My chicken pista korma was wonderful comfort food. What a joy it was to return.More
I wonder if they are trying to over do it. Bit complicated menu but done well. Love their crab cake and beetroot kabab. My favorite is the Halibut curry southern style. Finger licking good. Veggies bit disappointing. But overall very enjoyable.
This was my second time at Rasika - the first was ten years ago. The first was SO fabulous, I had to go back. While it was again very good, it was not outstanding, but in all fairness I think I may have selected the...wrong entree.
The service was OUTSTANDING. I believe our server’s name was April. She guided us through the menu. She told us about the most popular appetizer - I cannot remember the name but it has flash fried spinach - and it was to die for. We also had a scallop appetizer that was outstanding.
My mom hit the jackpot with the recommended lamb flank which came in a tomato sauce. My choice wasn’t the best - the lobster dish which came topped with a non-sweet merengue. The sauce was bland and just didn’t do it for me.
Oh, naan was fabulous. Try the truffle one! Yum.
We loved our drinks - some special non alcoholic fresh concoction with limeade tendencies. The wine selection was great. We shared a dessert that was very good - it had some Ice creams with it including the colander which was unusual and again, delicious.
If you like Indian food, you must visit Rasika. It is unlike any restaurant I have been to, and I have eaten at Indian restaurants all over the U.S., in Canada, and in India. Their dishes are innovative, fun, and delicious. The appetizers were fabulous-...we had the Beetroot, the Masala Crab Cakes (outstanding!) and the Fish Chili. All were really great. The service was outstanding too.
The only downside I would say is that the papadum was not at all what I expected, though that was really just a minor part of the meal. The cocktails were also way too iced down. Otherwise, all the entrees were excellent- I had the Andhra Chicken Curry, and I recommend it highly.
The desserts too are unique and not to be missed.More
We chose this based on the reviews, and it did not disappoint! If anything it exceeded our expectation because two other restaurants were a let down. This restaurant reminded us of our time in Bali were in the attention to service was just top notch!...The food was excellent, all that we ordered we finished and we were amazed by the fusion of the taste in our palate, but what makes this numero uno in our opinion is the bang up job of the servers and the workers, water were refilled without having to ask, empty plates were removed without prompting, the only thing we had a bit of an issue with was the lighting, too dark to see the food lol, but all we did was asked for more candles and voila! all was well. I would go back here again and again, that is how good it was.More
My dad used to live in DC and each time he revisits he always ended up there. It was an amazing restaurant with even better service. This is one of Obama’s favorite Indian restaurants. Outdoor seating was great and the heaters kept my father and...I warm. The Palak Chaat was great and I don’t even like yogurt. My dad’s salmon was exquisite and my Cauliflower Bezule was great and I was just so full I could not finish. But, I did have room for dessert! The apple jalebi was modeled after a beignet and was paired well with their cardamom ice cream! I was completely satisfied and loved it, it is also in a great area of DC within minutes of the amazing monuments. (Second and third photos were not taken by me, but they were the dishes we got)More
