We called in for a late lunch for two and got a table. It was rainy and we had a long drive ahead of us, so we chose a nice relaxing afternoon meal to serve as supper. Rasika was wonderful! We chose a tasting menu...and confirmed that they could accommodate my nut allergy. Our server worked seamlessly with the kitchen team to select replacement options that would be nut-free, allowing my partner to have the full tasting menu. The food selections were varied, plentiful and quite tasty. Many had spicy kicks, but never overpowering and usually with interesting counterpoint flavors. The staff was attentive but not intrusive. The drinks looked good, but with a long drive ahead we decided to save those for another time. We look forward to our next visit to DC and Rasika!More

We thought we were Indian food aficionados, but little did we know. This gem of dorestaurant taught us something about good Indian food. Service is exceptional in this Penn Quarter spot near Wooly Mammoth Theater if you are going for a show. Highlights: sweet potato...samosa purses and Palak Chaat. Tandoori Chicken Tikka Masala melted in my mouth.More

I had heard so much about Rasika that I wasn't impressed at all. For years, this was the Indian Restaurant I wanted to go and my kids did take us out to dinner during the holidays. Nothing did stand out except the Snapper which was...really good. The appetizers and the entrees were okay. I think I am more impressed with the food from SpiceKraft. The staff of course are excellent . Suryansh was very helpful in softly hinting at dishes he thought we would like . Juan was very nice when he came to refill our glasses. The decor is excellent and a great place to enjoy a relaxed evening. Except that the food really did not impress me.More

I usually leave reviews when dissatisfied about a service I received. We were visiting DC from out of state for our anniversary dinner, after a lot of circling around with a preschooler aged kid we were delighted to find a parking spot near this restaurant...& rushed there with a lot of excitement but were shocked to have denied dining there saying kids under 8 are not allowed.Shame on them for being discriminatory towards young kids. If there were more options, I would have given them negative ratings for this disappointing experience.More

I'm a fan. Such good food - traditional dishes with a twist. And the service is always great. In this visit, we opted for the tasting menu with black cod. We also got the Tawa Lobster... it was delicious. And so much tastier than scallops,...which was the tawa griddle dish included in the tasting menu. We're a huge fan of the Palak Chaat. The entree items were good also... I love the smokiness of the dal. The Zucchini Corn Cashew meddley was okay. All desserts were delicious, and I think the cardamom ice cream was my favorite out of the four.More

A friend and I decided to splurge on the six course tasting menu. Service was good; our waiter was amiable and amusing. The chef served a delish amuse-bouche as a thank you for choosing the tasting menu. It had layers of flavor that really set...our expectations. The first course was a surprisingly big bowl of Palaak Chaat. It was delicious but the portion was large for six courses. We both liked the flavorful and perfectly cooked black cod but neither cared for the Fish Chutneywala. We enjoyed the mango shrimp but not as much the Reshmi Kebab that came with it. These were also all large portions for a tasking menu. Then came a platter with four small bowls of different dishes and bread and rice. We could not come close to eating it all. I loved the Lamb Pista Korma and Dal Makhani, We didn't touch the bread. Desert was a four-square of options...we left most of it on the plate (except for the fabulous cardamom ice cream). We didn't love the rice pudding. We felt this was not so much a tasting menu, but more like five appetizers and dessert. In that regard, we were disappointed. But the amuse-bouche was the one thing that felt like it belonged on a tasting menu, and we also thought it was the most "tasting menu-like." We are not chefs and not experts. The food was very good. Just not what we expected (and too much!). On the more positive side, the staff was professional, courteous, friendly, and helpful. Service got a little slow near the end of the evening...More

Reserved dinner here a while ago for a trip we made to DC. Nice looking restaurant and well decorated internally, nice ambience. Greeting was very underwhelming and clumsy, felt distinctly like a “problem” as they couldn’t find our reservation. They did eventually and showed us...to a pleasant bench / table. Waiter was a little over the top but on the whole fairly attentive and helpful Food however was very hit and miss Two starters of sheek kebab - lamb and chicken. Chicken was fine and well seasoned, if a little lukewarm for my wife’s taste. Lamb was awful: undercooked and cold. Not sure how long ago that hand come out of an oven - or how long it had been in one - but left me gently gagging on “lamb cerviche”. Sauces though were pleasant and spicing of them was good. But $24 for Sheek kebabs suggests they need to be good. Mains of fish curry (not to my taste but made ok, not well seasoned) and chicken tikka masala. The CTM was nice, a very good sauce rich in flavour and well prepared. They can clearly make nice tasting food. Accompaniments were a little stingy - a Naan the size of a small side plate and lacking the promised garlic. Rice was well cooked if a little in the wrong proportions to the curry - should be 1:1 minimum - this was perhaps 1:0.5 A couple of glasses of Pinot, a can of Indian beer (didn’t have the Kingfisher the menu promised) and some sparkling water All in it cost ~$140 including the tips and taxes This place can spice food, but seasoning, cookery and service are distinctly middle to low average on our visit We wouldn’t return, lots of other options. Reminds us how lucky we are to have world class curry restaurants scattered all over the UK: this was at best an average high street bistro curry joint, perhaps punching pricewise a bit above the food offering. Shame, had high hopes of finally finding a decent curry in the US 6/10More

Rasika lived up to the many reviews and accolades the restaurant has received. Everything we ate was great and my husband could not stop raving about the cocktail menu. Based on the recommendation of our server, we ordered four things, two appetizers and two entrees....We also added naan, a staple with Indian food. We both really loved the dosa and samosas and could not pick a favorite. We also really enjoyed our chicken tikka masala and the mangalorian chicken curry. The service was also excellent. The food is pricier than some Indian, but it is worth the price.More

A 1st trip to Rasika after years of raves from our Washington Post. A birthday gift turned into a wonderful lunch for us. Of course, we had the palak chaat and it has to be one of best things we've ever eaten. Chicken tikka masala...& the raane-e-risika were our entrees only made better with a bread basket. Our server brought over a wonderful birthday treat complete with a lit candle - how nice is that? Everything is nice about Rasika - the warm friendly staff, the clean restrooms, the sensuous decor and the tantelizing tastes and aromas of the food. Rasika is a treat and a treasure.More

Great food, great service. Ordered green chicken masala. The wait warned it would be spicy, but it was just fine. Very polite friendly professional staff.

I have been here multiple times. Do not expect a traditional Indian food. It is an Indian fusion restaurant and some dishes are very good.

a MUST! Had a "reconnecting" dinner with friends. This place is AMAZING. Food is sensational. Service outstanding. Ambiance "rockin" (a bit to loud but that's because place is packed). Friday night @ 8. No wait, but we had reservations. Every bite of each plate will...treat your tastebuds to heaven. We had lamb, chicken curry. Rice was perfect. Mango shrimp as appetizer. Spot on. Service just outstanding. If you want an amazing experience, you have to try Raskia.More

The dress is business, business casual, and chic casual. I wouldn't show up in sneakers or a cocktail dress but you could get away with either.
