The Union station building is a work of art! Massive ceiling with magnificent architecture! There are many good food shops downstairs and a Walgreens for your quick travel needs. Looks like the departure area could use some rehab but, they maybe in the process or at least it looked like it. Union Station is in a great location with the majestic monuments right out the door or even the underground public transport, (which is “right” out the door on the second level if you coming from Amtrak terminals. Really, a nice place to visit and utilize on your journey.

Came here a few times when staying in a hotel nearby. There is a food court where you can pick a fast food place. Variety is always good. We also took a look around inside and felt it was very impressive. Good place if you like structure and taking pictures with structures.

So glad to find this place during the March for Life. There was food and BATHrooms! Praise God. Most places were guarded and there were no porta pots anyplace on the route. I ate at The Halal Guys and loved it! Their sandwich was filling and so delicious! TY TY for providing food and a place to sit for those in the March.

Arrived here at 7PM with European and South American friends, traveling from Dulles and taking the train to Philadelphia and New York. We all assumed we could get coffee, something to eat, and do some shopping for the 1.5 hours we had to wait for our train.
At 7PM, in our Nation's capital, with hundreds of train travelers wandering around, everything was CLOSED. All the stores, all the restaurants, even the Starbucks. My foreign friends were mystified how everything could be closed so early with so many travelers milling about, looking for something to do and eat. Only the Walgreen's was open to get soda, water, and snacks in bags.
To get there with all of our luggage, we had to take a tiny elevator in shifts to get to the lower level where the Walgreens was located. The elevator corridor was filthy, unpainted, and reeked.
As for Amtrak, they didn't list the departure gate and track until the very moment the train started boarding, so a hundred people ran for the train.
This is a national embarrassment. Next time we'll just fly.

The food court at Union Station is quite well-stocked: the area in the basement is a little more gruesome while the one on the ground floor (especially at the entrance) thrives on the reflected beauty of the station and is decidedly more similar to a shopping centre. You can find everything and at all prices, from breakfast to dinner. There is also a small supermarket. We used it several times because we often got takeaway in the evening and then had dinner directly at the hotel.

The main area of the station is beautiful. There are a lot of food options but mostly fast food. We at at Uno. The food was good but the restaurant was very run down and felt dirty or sticky. There are a lot of homeless people hanging around and some were causing some issues.

Union station is obviously in trouble. The main beautiful concourse is empty. The Amtrak area is scary with not enough chairs. Waiting for a delayed train for an hour I was asked for money three times. The atmosphere is dank in that waiting room. So sad to see all the money go to airports.

Such an iconic building, great looking and impressive ceiling. The joys ends there. This has the worst food restaurants and service I have experienced in the United States.

There were several places to eat and shop. I love that the car rentals were there. We also found the circulator buses close by and used the metro (subway). Everything was clean and although homeless people were close by, we felt safe.

Most people fail to see constitutional law statue surrounding the outside of union station, even across the way called cult bus circle has a very strong historical meaning. Other wise inside Union station is great variety of food store and shopping.

Fairly good food court but extremely busy. It offers restaurants, cafes and casual dinning. Delicious options to please all palates.
