This was a real find just an easy walk from where we stayed in Shaw. Every course we ate was a great combination of presentation and flavour. The apple and celery salad with bacon and blue cheese dressing was fresh, crunchy and bursting with flavour. The crostini was a good balance with it. I had the pan roasted king salmon... More

Authentic Italian pasta and fresh delicious food. Pasta dishes are unbelievable. Rigatoni is the best!! The management and service staff are attentive and professional.

I ordered the beet salad and the signature mezze rigatoni. I thought the beet salad with feta, pita chips, etc was divine. However, I thought the rigatoni was average, nothing to brag about.

Fantastic meal at the Red Hen. We were looking for a family friendly spot for a larger table, and friends suggested this spot. It looked serviceable enough, but we weren't expecting to be wowed by the overall experience. We were! The food is terrific here. Don't over order as we did - portions were plentiful and everything was delicious. From... More

This quaint and hip restaurant is in the Bloomingdale sub-area of DC. We were renting an Airbnb around the corner and stopped in on whim. The staff made us feel very welcome, even without a reservation (suggest you reserve a table). The waitress was friendly and the interior is airy and comfortable. We tried the chicken liver appetizer and each... More

Walked in to a half full restaurant on Friday night and had to put our name in for a 60 minute wait. Ambience is really nice inside as the sun sets the cozy lighting takes over. Grilled octopus was a little fishy for me and the whipped ricotta appetizer needed a little more Brown butter flavor. Beef short rib was... More

Four of us visited The Red Hen and had a delicious dinner! Although I had read the excellent reviews, I must admit that I was a little "concerned" when I saw the menu. It seemed that many of the dishes included an ingredient that I wasn't sure would complement the rest of the ingredients. However, this turned out to be... More

Comforting and casual atmosphere with friendly, relaxed and knowledgeable waitstaff. Our waiter was delightful, offered us excellent insight, suggestions and we had a wonderful time. Our cocktails were smart, and the wine list runs deep. The pasta dishes we had were layered, vibrant with flavor and so satisfying. I would love to return to experiment with more of the menu.

Atmosphere amazing, staff absolutely pleasant from the moment we walked in, our waitress Robyn was a sweet heart, and the food, out of this world, so good.

Funny thing, the host greeted us and said our table was not quite ready, but we could buy a drink at the bar. We got a bottle of wine and started having a glass when we were moved to our table. Our waiter proceeded to come up and tell us it's too bad we had gotten that wine at the... More
