Stopped her for lunch while running errands. I haven't eaten here in an age (restaurant has been around since the early eighties). Salsa and chips were OK. Service was very friendly and fairly attentive. Kudos to the hostess (Friday lunch). I ordered a sangria and it was quite good. I ordered the chicken mole and it was fair. I was... More

Had dinner at El Tamarindo and was rather disappointed. Service was friendly, but very slow. Steak dish I had was served nearly raw. Not much flavor in either dishes or sauces. Did have interesting array of cocktails, including the Oaxaca Mule that was quite good.

We were staying in DuPont and looking for somewhere local to eat. Past Reviews seemed OK. The staff were polite, however th chicken was over cooked and dry on the fajitas and the nachos had a very strange sauce which we wouldn't receive back home in the UK.

Stopped in for a quick bite before heading into Dupont area. Family got all four happy hour special appetizers...we were in and out in about 30 min. Excellent waitstaff and excellent food.

Owner Jose Reyes has modernized the restaurant, which has had a certain bodega charm since we've been regulars most Friday nights. He and his builders did a nice job, opening up the bar and installing bar seating, putting some 'high' tables with barstools for groups of 4-6, and freshening up the look for a younger, more demanding 21st Century crowd.... Actually, El Tamarindo has El Salvadoran and Mexican dishes. It has quickly become our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area, surpassing Lauriol Plaza! The vegetarian options are fantastic, and the plantains are simply delicious. Love the mole. The decor is very basic and doesn't match how great the food is. So, we are very happy that it is being remodeled... More

I love this place. They are always friendly and their dishes are delectable. I often get the fajita salad with steak. It's a large portion, but so good that I find myself devouring it. It had a nice ambience before, but now is under renovation so I imagine that it will be even nicer when they are done in early... More

Excellent meal, friendly staff, great value. The plantains were cooked perfectly, the mole sauce was the best I'd ever had.

The food is pretty good here. After having a disastrous experience at another Mexican joint, I really wanted my taste buds to experience better Mexican food. The restaurant is pretty spacious. We were seated immediately on a Saturday night after 8pm. Service can be a bit better....I could have definitely used another Pina colada but didn't feel like stalking my... More
