This is a "great institution" with a lot of history and atmosphere. The manager and staff were absolutely the best in terms of service. Food was excellent. Definitely worth another visit.

The Monocle is a DC institution and rightly so. The service and food are worth the expense. If you are near Capitol Hill and want to have lunch beside Senators and other DC power brokers, this is your place. I've never been in without a tie and jacket so I would check dress code. This would NOT be the place... More

Delicious lunch with excellent coffee. Chicken with vegetables and mashed potatoes was so good. Lots of suits.

We brought a party of 10 here to celebrate our son's graduation from university and what a fabulous choice! I am not sure what was better the food or the service. Everyone in our party raved about their meal and we all enjoyed how the service team worked together, they truly added to our experience. Not to mention that the... More

everything about this place was excellent. The service was efficient and friendly, the food could not have been better - I had the liver and onions. My lunch mates all raved about their meals as well. And, it was surprisingly reasonably priced considering the area. I WILL BE BACK. Maybe next time a Senator will stop by.

One of my favorite places to visit while in DC. I highly recommend the crab cakes. You will not be disappointed with anything you order.

We loved this restaurant. We ate here after a long day lobbying on capital hill. The owner was behind the bar and served us our food and incredible conversation. Both of our meals were fresh and reasonably priced. We would definitely return.

You never know who will be in the Monocle with you, and eavesdropping can be almost as good as the cocktails. Crab cakes are highly recommended.

This place is classic. It's large with many meeting rooms and visited by the movers and shakers of the U.S. Government. We had a large business meeting in a private room and the selection was outstanding and service great. One complaint, my entrée did not arrive at the same time as the rest of the party of 13 but that... More

The only thing to recommend this restaurant is that it is walking distance from the Supreme Court. It took them quite a while to find their wine list and when they did, it was the worst wine list we have ever encountered. My endive sauce consisted of two withered strips and my husband's "medium rare' calves liver arrived well done.... More
