It is always a pleasure to eat here. Good choices, local homey type of atmosphere and almost always great food. It sometimes can be very crowded so eating here may be an issue. Also at a recent visit the food was great, but the quantity was a little sparse given the price. Always a good choice for lunch unless you... More

Had lunch here on a Thursday afternoon and it got very crowded very quickly, so make sure you come early to beat the lunchtime crowd. Had the #5, corned beef sandwich, and an ice tea for $10. Don't bother waiting for the check when you're done, just go to the cashier to pay. They politely asked us to leave when... More

Descriptors: unpretentious and delicious. A lunch counter with outdoor seating and some very good special from around the globe. Last time I had a duck and chicken ragout (balanced and rich) over egg noodles, with a salad and garlic bread. All for $12. If I didn't live and work across town, I'd be here every most every day.

If in Washington DC (DuPont Circle area) on a Monday-Friday, this is your destination for lunch--fantastic, incredible value. If you plan to make this your main meal, you can plan your budget accordingly for breakfast and lunch. For example, last Friday for less than $20.00, I had their daily seafood special which included -- grilled swordfish served with a mango... More

The place feels like a truck stop, except the diners are all wearing suits, since it's a popular lunch spot in the middle of downtown D.C. Had the braised beef entree which was very tasty. Feels very old-fashioned.

However it is right next door to a famous steak restaurant. The menu always changes and they use nothing but the freshest ingredients. Their lunch business is always busy.

CF Folks, with its amiable owner Artie, has been a DC institution for many years. A TINY place on busy 19th street, it sits right next to the Palm but could not be more different. The value for what you receive is unbelieveable, as the quality of the food is what is found at places with 3x the costs. About... More

Walking by on a cold afternoon last week, we ordered a chicken salad sandwich and tuna salad sandwich. Both were filled to the brim with perfectly made salads....not too much mayo and lots of "meat".....and sitting at an old counter kinda cool.

I work in the building next door to this place and ran in to get a couple of bottles of orange juice ($3 per bottle). When I went to pay, the guy behind the sandwich counter asked if I was buying anything else, which I wasn't. He acted genuinely annoyed that I wasn't ordering food, glaring and basically tossing my... More

I love that CF Folks put a sign outside every morning with "Today's special". I am usually drawn to it after finding something great on the Special menu. However, for a few times that I went there, they were sold out of the specials on the menu. I usually ended up ordering other food that was not too special. So... More
