We live in the area and used to go to Martin’s at least once a week but then stopped because quality took a nose-dive 20 years ago. Went back this month because friends wanted to go there for atmosphere. And the atmosphere is nice—Christmas decorations...still up in late January, place was packed by 7:00, and there is definite energy. But the food was less than mediocre. Cobb salad full of brown wilted letter, etc. And food is incredibility expensive for amount and quality. Then they sneak in a 5 percent charge on the bill—but for what? Do not waste your money here! Go a block away to Peacock Cafe, where quality of food is extraordinary and items are reasonably priced, and hospitality is warm and sincere. Martin’s is overrated and always has been. Stop there for a drink if you want atmosphere, but go elsewhere for dinner. So disappointing!More

Great server, very decorated for the holidays. Food was good value. There was as an outdoor area with awning resembling French outdoor cafes. The restaurant main level indoor seating was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Food was prompt and delicious.

Great place. Just to be close to the history. J.F Kennedy use to eat there. You van see a lot of pictures and heard different stories while you wait. Try to get a table outside and you will see all around the place. The food...is ok, very Américan options. It is. Food place to drink a beer after georgetow tourMore

On a quick trip to DC, I had the chance to take my niece out to dinner. She was staying in Georgetown & I had her pick where. Martin’s was so amazing…and not just because of the history. The atmosphere in the small restaurant is...great & you’ll definitely want a reservation (it was packed on a Friday night, as expected). The staff was super friendly, patient when we didn’t both arrive at the same time, & really helpful with recommendations. She’d been a few times & had to have the chicken strips! I went bigger on the waiter’s recommendation & had one of the best prime rib meals I’ve ever had! The crab cake appetizer was exceptional too.More

Crowded, busy, but everything was wonderful. Service is excellent, food was excellent. Three of us had different dishes -- shepherd pie with lamb; fish and chips; blackened salmon -- each very good. Tables are close together but waitstaff moved smoothly among the diners. We arrived...before many others, which was good (not sure if they do reservations). Gorgeous interior (no pix; did not want to have strangers in the photos), and an additional room to the rear, past the beautiful bar, that could be used for private gatherings. Will definitely go back, next time we're in town.More

Very nice food. Table we were given for 6 people was at the very back on the right and very small even though I had booked a few weeks ahead . Would have liked a better table. Service was good.

We were there for dinner on Thanksgiving day, and the place was absolutely jammed. There was a ton of energy, and it felt like you were in the right place. Professionally run restaurant, and their teams work well together, providing the diner with a fine...experience. Excellent dishes included the angry mussels appetizer, and the steak salad.More

The waiter could not have been more indifferent with the exception of desperately trying to steer us towards the more expensive items on the menu. Arguably the worst waiter I’ve ever experienced. Rudeness culminated in the bill being thrust in front of us with the...demand for a 20%, 25% or 30% tip. Laughable! Only reason it’s managed 1/10 for service is because the manager came to check on us and was very hospitable.More

We had been here before 4 years ago and went again thinking we would get the same experience. We were wrong , the portions were small and the mash potato was freezing. We didn’t leave a tip and the waiter was appalled, when we told...him about the cold food , he stormed off.More

A great American restaurant with history. Friday night the inside was crowded, as expected, but we sat outside under a tent-like structure. Wait staff were always available. The food was very good. We enjoyed ourselves eating and drinking. I would go back.

While the rstauant it self is small, the food and the service was on point. Wine price was reasonable but short on selection. The booth table was very comfortable. The staff seems to have very good communications since the service was flawless.

Really quaint and historic restaurant. It’s the place JFK proposed to Jackie. The menu is varied and the food is delicious. Our waiter was really nice and attentive. Highly recommend!

We were reccomended this spot from our neighbors who used to visit this spot every Sunday! Not only is it one of the oldest tavern in the area, several presidents have sat and ate here as well. We came right as they were switching to...Dinner service so we sat at the bar for a drink. Once seated, we noted that the menu has quite the variety of dishes. I had the Bison burger and my husband had the meatloaf. They were both cooked well and had a ton of flavor. The staff waits on you hand and foot and is very attentive even though there was only me and my husband in our group. If I had to complain about something it would be the restrooms as they were up a flight of steep stairs. As someone with a disability, it was a bit tricky to get up there but I did it. Not sure if they have another option for those that cant climb stairs.More
