Martin's is a classic and a must see when in Georgetown. That said going there on a Saturday during the holiday season is an adventure. We were initially told it would be a 35 or 40 minute wait, but it turned out to be over an hour with our once being told our table was two minutes away only to... More

Great venue, very friendly, great tradition and good food. The booths are named after former US presidents but the whole place is not pretentious

A classic tavern. Menu tends a little too much towards "steakhouse" rather than tavern. If you stick to burgers and beers you won't go away disappointed. Explore the neighborhood after dinner. The Kennedys' first house is two blocks down the street.

Visited on Thanksgiving night when most other restaurants were closed, and were met by a warm atmosphere in a historic restaurant. Ate the thanksgiving turkey dinner, quite ok even if probably not representative of the ordinary menu

How cool is it to sit in the same booth that Richard Nixon sat in many years ago and right next to the booth where JFK proposed to Jackie O! Not only is the food good, but the history of the place really makes it a place not to miss out on. I had the Sheppard's Pie, which was excellent.... More

My wife and teenaged-daughter went here for Thanksgiving dinner. The food was traditional but very tasty - the sort you'd expect when you visit your mother for the occasion. While a bit crowded (mainly by people waiting for their table), the atmosphere was nevertheless cosy. The service was courteous and efficient (perhaps a bit too much so, at times you... More

Good local bar used by Georgetown residents. From the outside you might think it's a bit rough but it's not. Very professional, willing service and a good choice of reasonably priced food and drink.

We were in DC for about a week and had lots of great food, but this place was top of the list! An historic place, and it doesn't disappoint. Firstly the food, it was the best meal we had all week. We didn't order anything fancy, just a burger and a steak salad. But my partner said it's possibly the... More

delightful experience to sit where JFK proposed to Jacquie and see where many former presidents came. we had a small meal and a quick drink - it was empty so we were able to quietly look around at the photos and the plaques.

At Martin's Tavern, every sitting president from Truman to G.W. Bush has dined. Ask your server to point out the booth where JFK proposed to Jackie.
