Saw this place on triple D. Went there to check it out. Was not disappointed! Location is great. Can people watch at the outdoor tables. Food was piping hot!! Papusa was delicious! Ordered fajitas and the beef and the chicken were delicious. also ordered flautas...lovely. Really love the many options you can have with each platter. Even with a fajita... More

Really awesome restaurant in Eastern Market. You can spend the day enjoying the market tables outside and then head inside to enjoy a great meal. I had an empanada, plantains, and yucca for only $6.

Saw this place on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, so took my family here for lunch; not much seating so they waited until people left before they started cooking our food so it didn't get cold. I do appreciate that kind of hospitality although the wait of smelling amazing food and not eating it was horrible haha. The tamale and papusa... More

You always wonder about the TV food show's dining choices and think "how good could it be?". Well they made a great choice. This place goes above and beyond with authentic Salvadoran cuisine. The small counter service establishment is misleading as the food is 4 star quality with heart and soul put in every dish. We had the wonderful homemade... More

The atmosphere was not the best, there were crumbs all over the tables as well as trash. There was rips in the seats and the chairs outside were plastic with the price stickers on them. Other than that, the food was good and the staff were helpful and friendly.

The pupusas were excellent! You can tell that the corn tortillas are homemade. It's a bit off the beaten path, hole in the wall type of place but worth the visit! The service was very friendly. It's a bit cramped and not quite accessible for strollers if you hit it at a busy time. VERY affordable. The cheapest meal we... More

What a great restaurant! There was a huge lineup but we figured it was for a good reason. Very generous portions. The food tasted authentic. Seating was not great.

We stopped in because of the reviews we had read. We tried the papusas, sweet corn tamales, plaintains and empanadas. I think our favorite thing was the sweet corn tamales. Those were really good. The rest of the food was good but not really outstanding. It's worth another try though. I think it's great for take out. We saw a... More

We came to this café after walking all the museums in DC we seen in on the food network channel and wanted to try it. We had a few different items from their menu and everything was wonderful. A few of my favorite was the spinach and feta empanada and the pork tamale! The tamales were so good we had... More

We made a special trip to Tortilla Cafe after seeing the restaurant on Diners Drive-Inns and Dives. Our lunch was so satisfying that we went back the next day for the exact same meal. The tacos on the appetizer menu were entree sized, and delicious. The papusa was also tasty. My favorite dish was the carne asada, washed down with... More
