Was in Washington DC for work from Scotland, I'm a fan of DDD and went here on the back of that - tucked away fast food that I would never have found otherwise - it was well worth it and would recommend. Went for breakfast....Arrived early and the server spotted me peering in the window and happily opened up for me. Went for the mexican breakfast burrito, delicious and full of flavour with great refried beans and Pico de Gallo. A little pricey but that may be Washington and certainly didn't need lunch so two meals for the price of one!More

Visited here for lunch with two friends. Only giving this an Average rating vice a Poor rating because one friend liked her dish. My dish and my other friend's dish were definitely below average. I had the shrimp tacos and it was basically a few...pieces of shrimp wrapped in a tortilla. Hardly any sauce and even less vegetables. My dissatisfied friend had the cheese/chicken quesadilla and it had WAY too much cheese; depending on your tastes, maybe you'd prefer that. The friend who enjoyed her dish had the veggie taco salad. Prices were OK. No chips and salsa included. Not environmentally friendly at all. Chips came in a zip-lock bag. Salsa, guac, and sour cream each came in their own little plastic container, so each of us received three of these. Plastic utensils. If I recall correctly, plates were plastic or styrofoam. Also, customer service is non-existent. Person behind the register who takes your order doesn't even say hi. Try the place once. Maybe you'll get a good dish. I'm not returning.More

We follow Guy and DDD so we had to stop when in DC. Parking was a little tough and the inside was dirty and needs updating but the food was great! We tried a bunch of different items since we have a big family. The...fajitas were really good (steak, chicken and shrimp). Pork and chicken tamales were excellent, a lot of meat and not too much masa. The pork pupusa was phenomenal! I would definitely recommend the stop if you are in the area for the pupusa's!More

When I first visited a couple of years ago, the food was great. Two fridays ago I got t2 orders ofd the seafood taco salmon. The salmon smelled and tasted spoiled & was not edible. Not giving up on them, my coworkers and I decided...to get breakfast there last Friday 6/4/2021. Very Bad Decision. After waiting over 15 minutes I asked about the two orders. She said something about an oven or stove needing heating. The eggs with cheese was hard but ok. The bacon was too hard to eat and the home fries was actually floating in grease.More

We tried this place because of the Food network, and it was ok. I wouldn't necessarily go again, it was good but not great. The staff was nice and they got the food out pretty quickly but it was not as good as I expected...I guess. I did like the pupusas, but the empanadas weren't awesome. Overall I say its just ok.More

This place is my favorite restaurant on Capitol Hill. Not favorite cheap restaurant, favorite period. The staff are friendly, helpful, and provide the food accurately. I don't care for cilantro, and unlike many places, I have never had to send my food back because of...it. Also, the food is GREAT: - Plantains are the best I have had. - Roasted chicken dinner has more flavor and more food than you could possibly eat. - Yucca fries are perfect. - And nothing beats the breakfast burrito after a long night or to start a big day. Also - its the cheapest place on the Hill.More

My family visited this restaurant this evening due to its Food Network highlight and it’s rating on trip advisor. We were, unfortunately, not impressed. I did not mind the basic environment, the food was why we went. The food was a bit bland and mushy....We cannot suggest the restaurant and will not be be back.More

My wife and I were at the Eastern market and we decided to get food here. I had the pupusa platter, while my wife tried the tamales. Food arrived rather quickly and it was tasty. Also, not heavy! Yes, it comes on paper dishes...but -frankly-...who cares when it's good? Reasonably priced.More

My daughter and I ate here tonight. Small restaurant. Very inviting. I had the pupussas platter and my daughter had the nachos. Both were very fresh and delicious.

Try the Papusa and quesadilla and french fries wedges. We had a variety of items, and all were served hot. Very flavorful dishes. Located next to the Eastern Market.

Friendly service and the food was delicious. My friend and I both ordered lunch and a drink and it was under $20. It is easy to see why this dive was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives! Highly recommend.

It may have been an off night, but not really thinking that what we had was worth the tripo to go here for the ratings. So be forewarned, and don't get your hopes up! Had the stew - which was "okay". The tamale platter was...also just okay.More

Ordered pupusas with fried plantains and refried beans for takeout and was happily surprised at the food and reasonable prices. They kept the door open for a few minutes just to complete my order. Staff were extremely friendly I would return here in a heartbeat!

Our first night in the capital we wanted something nearby but really tasty - Tortilla Cafe ticked all our boxes. My salmon and prawn fajitas were very flavourful, and our nacho starter was large enough to share between four! The servers were very patient, friendly...and respectful, and the food came out very speedily. Would definitely pop in again if I had a hankering!More
