Excellent food and outstanding food. We enjoyed the Lasagna La Perla. The steamed mussels and sea food appetizer were delicious

My friend and I went here for a birthday dinner as we never ate here before but would always pass by the restaurant on our way to work. We thought why not try it out for his birthday celebration. First, the service is great. The...staff are super friendly, nice, hard workers (All of them were on the move), checked-in on you (Even if it wasn’t their table). Something that stood out the most was the fact that they made me bruschetta as an appetizer even though it wasn’t on the menu. Now that is service. The food was good and enjoyable. I would come back here and even recommend them to my friends and co-workers. Also, they were able to seat us even though we didn’t have a reservation and they were packed. Which was nice of them. If you are in town, I would give them a try.More

Delicious food, great service, and I love that the owner walks around greeting the tables. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The service was pleasant but very slow, the food OK but over sauced and not that flavorful. Disappointing.

What a gem! Delightfully decorated. (Reminded me of old DC.) Excellent pappardelle Presidential pasta. Excellent Caesar salad and the Tiramisu was fabulous. We will definitely be back.

Went for wine and desert. Desert was overpriced and low quality. Gelato had frezer burn and was very small for $14. Tiramsu was watery and seemed like defrosted. Seemed to be a bother. So many better options near by.

I booked the private room at La Perla for our family and our son's friends from GW. We had a fantastic evening! Food was great, wine was flowing and the staff was friendly and welcoming!

Atmosphere is warm and friendly. Owner Mr. Testa visits each table. Servers are experienced and unobtrusive. Our four meals were delicious - linguine with clam sauce, spaghetti alio olio, linguine vicctorio, and gnocchi. Pasta perfectly cooked. Go fancy or not so fancy. Enjoy the experience!

We were a group of six people and the reservation was at 8:30 p.m. which is normally late for me but some of our out of town guests did not arrive till a certain time. When we walked into the restaurant it was relatively quiet...there were a couple of tables being served. We walked over to the table that was reserved for us and to begin with the waiter Fred did not properly set sic servings. He only had five. None of us realized that we were short of serving until the appetizers started to come out. The waiter was disastrous, he paid no attention to the table he was always hanging out in the back of the restaurant laughing with some of his co-workers. We had to ask for glasses for water, although we purchased bottles of Pellegrino there were no glasses. When he brought out the glasses he didn't bring out enough. We had to ask for bread because he didn't offer it. The food came out in two stages four of us we're served and then 10 minutes later two more were served so we couldn't even dine together more or less. Apparently a birthday dessert was arranged for and he knew about it and he comes to the table with the birthday dessert sticks a sparkler in the dessert and lights it right then and there on the table. Poor presentation absolutely a joke. There were not enough spoons for people that were eating pasta and requested spoons and there weren't enough wine glasses either. Some of us would drinking at a straight glasses for wine. The waiter was inattentive, by the time we got the food it was cold, and that was that part of the experience. Now let's get to the food, where to begin let's start with the calamari freeta appetizers and the clams casino appetizer, and the carpaccio appetizer, and the caprese salad. The calamari was apparently frozen rings that had been put in a dull batter and was cold when delivered to the table and gummy. It was not fresh batter and it wasn't fresh calamari. The quality of the calamari was something I would expect and a fast food restaurant. The clams casino were 90% bread filler with a morsel of clam and a morsel of bacon. Once again something that I would expect from a grocery store frozen food section. The caprese consisted of two slices of tomato, two slices of mozzarella cheese and that was it for an exorbitant price. Once again very common. The carpaccio was good but very very small. The main entrees, that was disastrous. Everything came out cold and nothing came out according to the menu or rather as the menu described the entree. I ordered the pappardello l seafood pasta which was supposed to have come with lobster, shrimp, and scallops and some other seafood I think some clams. So the gummy mushy pasta came with two shrimp in a sauce that was disgusting and cold. Somebody ordered a veal chop that was supposed to be stuffed with some different things like mushrooms crab meat something like that what came out was a fatty grizzly veal chop smothered with Campbell's cream of mushroom soup and a slice of cheese, need I say more. Another person ordered bronzino fillet which came out cold with bones in it, laugh out loud, the food was awful and the question that we all have is how does this restaurant get away with this and continue to get high ratings. My assumption is that the reviews are not real or the restaurant itself is putting on false reviews because this is absolutely not the case. I am very well traveled and I have lived abroad and I have dined in some of the best restaurants around the world, so I know the difference. This was an experience that needs to be addressed because the restaurant did not meet any of the expectations. For the cost, we knew it was going to be expensive and that was not the issue but for what we got, for the service we received, for the quality of the food, the cost becomes absurd. Nobody minds paying for a good quality meal but this was total garbage. Finally the concierge at the hotel we were staying at had recommended a different restaurant and I suggested we go to la Perla based on the ratings and somebody also told me it was very good food. What a laugh finally the owner chef walks around visiting the tables he can barely speak audible English but he walks around and he nods his head and he asks his everything all right. My assumption is that he's not looking at the table and he's not looking at the quality of the food that's coming out nor is he tasting it because if he did he wouldn't be out there asking how it was. I strongly recommend that you do not go and I strongly reiterate that what I've written is absolutely honest and sincere and this is the first time I've ever done something like this. I'm doing it because I was that disturbed.More

Ambience was nice, seemed old school. Staff was very pleasant , but service slow. Not enough help as waiters were busy. The food was very disappointing. I had the grilled lobster, shrimp, and scallops. Portion was very small for cost of $42- one shrimp and...couple of chewy scallops. Lobster tasted good also small portion. The cappuccino was delicious. Very average would not recommend for money .More

The actual food was amazing. the service was well intended as it clearly is a family restaurant however very bad!!! We waited when we were seated for more than 20 minutes to even get a waiter to bring us water. Then we waited for 60...minutes for our food. One order was wrong and the waiter recognized it and then never brought back the corrected item. Waited for silverware, waited for check. Owner brought over a desert we didn’t order even after we asked her for the check. Never asked us if everything was okay when clearly things had gone wrong.More

We arrived at our reservation on time but waited 20 minutes to be greeted by our server. Two other servers were just standing around and when I motioned for one of them, he bruskly told me that our food was on its way, even though...we hadn't ordered yet. We got our drinks a full hour after we sat down along with a basket of the worst Italian bread you can imagine. I ordered the Pappardelle del Presidente, which came with two shrimps, three small pieces of lobster, no crab, and way too much salt. Of the four meals we ordered, two were just OK.More

Overpriced, slow service, disappointing food...the service was so slow, there were two of us and when we arrived for our reservation there was only one other table occupied. However, our meal, with no appetizers, no dessert, and no coffee, took almost 3 hours. The food...was "meh" at best $32 for shrimp parmigiana dinner which consisted of 3 undercooked shrimp with a slice of cheese melted on top. The bread was hot, but was like concrete and the chicken on top of the Fettuccine Alfredo was so dry it wasn't edible. A disappointment for sureMore
