This was recommended to us by a friend as the best German food in DC. Our meals were excellent and very reasonably priced. There was great street side dining. Walking distance to Union Station or the Mall. We came from the Mall and ate here before catching a night tour at Union Station.

Cafe Berlin has been on mass Ave in DC for over 30 years. With outdoor 'patio' dining accompanied by great sidewalk people watching and cozy/classy indoor dining for a more formal experience, this restaurant is a gem. The menu offers a wide selection of German dishes prepared by a skilled chef and served by knowledgeable, attentive servers. Nearby parking can... More

My husband and I enjoyed Sunday brunch, which offered great traditional dishes with a twist. My husband had the German sausage with grits - the Texas twist - and loved it. I had a German eggs benedict that featured German pancakes instead of a muffin, and it was absolutely perfect. The service was impeccable.

Interesting menu - very well prepared and great service. Fresh ingredients and a nice variety of beer and wine. Highly recommend in the DC area!

Stopped here for something different and comforting on my recent trip. The food was VERY good and filling. My server was very good at helping me pick a wine to go with my meal. Coming from a German rooted city, we have plenty to compare it too. As authentic as back home.

Worth the trip from the suburbs--even found parking across the street. Our server, Amy, was very good. The pretzel app was delicious. We had the viener schnetzel and the pork medallions. Outstanding. We enjoyed our dessert as well. Prices were very reasonable. Casual neighborhood place.

We came on a Friday night at 8 pm for dinner, and sat inside. The restaurant is nicely appointed but fairly nondescript - not necessarily a romantic nook, nor trying to be edgy. The ambience was great for lively conversation. The staff was attentive and very friendly, though there were some errors on our final tab (in our favor) that... More

This place was the pits- small room, mediocre food, entrees not available, and the hostess turned away two elderly gentlemen who had difficulty getting into the restaurant-

What a pleasant surprise to find an authentic, but unassuming German restaurant in the middle of DC. Having spent lots of time in Germany, Café Berlin hit all the right notes for my nostalgic longings....great food, brews, and atmosphere. It's also ideally located to grab a meal coming out of Union Station, or a quick walk from the US Capitol.... More

This was the highlight of our sightseeing trip. Convenient location, friendly and helpful service, pleasant atmosphere, stellar dining (I highly recommend the Sauerbraten) and the price was right. Or server walked us through everything, including an amazing beer and wine list, and if we could have fit it in our stomachs, we would have stayed for dessert (and then come... More
