We had another excellent dinner at Grillfish tonight. The service by Katie was great -- she is friendly, knowledgeable and very prompt with service. Alfredo -- the BEST host ever -- kind, courteous and genial. The food is excellent. I highly recommend Grillfish!

The ceviche was basic, but the fried oyster with poached eggs was amazing. Maya was amazing and attentive during the entire experience.

We visited on an evening where the fryer was not working. This had no impact on our food choice whatsoever, but the restaurant seem to handle requests seamlessly. Service was quick, food was amazing and the environment was great. Will be back again!

With a name like Grillfish, you pretty much know what is on the menu, and they have seafood in abundance. You can have it just about any way you might want. And, lucky for us, they do it all pretty well. Grillfish is on a...triangle about a 5-10 minute walk from Dupont Circle. It's in a more modern building that is under some kind of renovation. While the exterior, particularly with the construction, isn't impressive, the inside is a lot of fun and has definite personality. They have many seafood options. There are multiple kinds of fish they will prepare more or less to your preference, along with more traditional entree offerings. Our server was low-key, but plainly knew what he was doing. He took our 4-person order without notes or apparent effort to memorize every detail, but everything arrived exactly as we had asked. It's hard to do things like that right without appearing to be working hard to do it. Our food was perfectly prepared, and prepared the way we had asked. We were looking for seafood on a Friday evening during Lent, but frankly we'd take this place any day of the week during any season.More

I usually come to DC once a year. Last year, we stumbled upon Grillfish. This year, we made a reservation and LOVED IT again. I had the beet salad and salmon entree with brussel sprouts. Fabulous meal. Others had similar meals and all enjoyed. Also,...wait staff was extremely attentive and very on top of their game. Looking forward to coming back next year.More

After a long day I was looking forward to a quiet, simple dinner. Grillfish was unknown to me until today and I am very happy to have found it. Upon arriving, at 8pm on a Saturday without a reservation I would have understood being turned...away. The gentleman at the host station was very friendly and found a table for me immediately. Given they appeared to have a full house, we were off to a good start. My server was at the table within a minute and had my beverage much faster than expected. Again, they were packed and she was busy. I began with an appetizer of fried calamari, not particularly impressive but the dipping sauce was +1. Unable to make a decision about my entree I opted for the sampler (I know, not always a wise choice) of swordfish, salmon, mahi mahi, scallops and shrimp. Spinach was my choice of a side...I would go back for the spinach alone. Cooked al dente with just a bit or residual oil and loads of garlic. Delivered piping hot I think it may be the best spinach I’ve ever had (ok, it’s the little things that please me most). The entree was delicious and the portion size was spot on. I regret that I don’t recall my servers name because she really was very good and I’d be happy to have her help guide me through a meal again when I return. I did not quite get the quiet meal I’d hoped for, it was pretty loud in the restaurant, but the meal more than made up for that. Honestly, I dined alone tonight, had I been with others I likey would have never noticed the noise level.More

Had a wonderful time at Grillfish tonight. Maya was amazing and took such great care of us! One member of our party had a gluten allergy and she was incredibly helpful and we were able to navigate the menu so easily. The mixed grill was...delicious and the chocolate fudge cake was incredible. Will definitely be back here soon!!More

We just got off the road from New York and Maya did a great job making sure we got drinks and were well fed. She happily refilled our bread bowl and waters throughout the meal and honored our drink vouchers with no issues. We will...be sure to visit again next time we’re in DC and ask for Maya.More

This is a restaurant where good casual clothes work, e.g., jeans with nice sweater or polo shirt and decent shoes. We found locals having lunch & dinner both during work and after work dressed in suits, dresses, heels, etc... More
