A classic deli with just amazingly good food—gyro meat like no where else in the area (succulent, crisp edges, perfectly spiced and so fresh and flavorful!); falafel just right (not dried out at all, crispy outside and moist inside); hummus with a dab of spicy sauce on the side. Only drinks are bottled in the wall fridge (no tap water). All meals served in to-go containers. Limited indoor and outdoor seating.

This is a little hole in the wall about a ten minute walk north of the zoo.
The menu is pretty typical Greek and Middle Eastern. But the quality is great and the people are really nice.
In fact, this was probably the best falafel I've had in years. They serve it as a platter or on pita as a sandwich. Everything on the sandwich was delicious.
It was not as cheap as it used to be. But it was still a good deal. I'll be back.

Prices are $9.95 for most main meals with all sides separate. Great food.
Good quality and quantity.

t he was talking to the other people. I said no big deal and moved on, then he asked for here or to go, I said for here and need a table for 2, he then got frustrated and said that this is a self service place which is not a big deal, a clear sign or pleasant communication would suffice but there is none so we were confused that do we just sit down or order and then sit, all the owner has to do was communicate this pleasantly and professionally but clearly he was having a bad day and started talking loud and saying on how was being respectful all while being a complete jerk. I am not even sure how this place is rated 4.3 as it is a complete dump and the owner looked just so unclean that I wouldn’t want him even touching my food. We obviously left and went next door. I have been in customer service and retail all my life and this exactly what I preach on how not to treat your customers. It’s truly a shame that this even occurred. Please avoid this place there are multiple other nice places on the same block. I hope the owner here can go take some classes on how to be respectful in a business setting because clearly he is clueless.

They have such great food for lunch. I've never ordered a bad meal and the staff is super friendly. The olive leaves are one of my favorites.

A small but high-impact Greek restaurant in a busy area of Washington DC. I enjoyed their variety of options, good quality food, and very affordable prices - particularly for this part of our nation's capital.

We look forward to coming here whenever we go to the National Zoo. Virtually everything is homemade and the prices are very reasonable for the area. We split the spinach pie and the gyro. The baklava was a great way to end lunch--small, dense and honey sweet.

Great place to stop in for lunch. We came in on our way through DC, and the gyros had great flavor. Could have had a bit more food for the price, but overall had a great experience. Staff very friendly as well.

A nice little deli in a residential area in DC. Very good cheese burger here. The chicken shwarma was also worth trying. Reasonably priced as well!

Stopped by there this evening about half-an-hour behind schedule and was able to get in and out in about 25 minutes while enjoying a tasty gyro with seasoned fries. Service was very friendly and helpful.

Been coming here since I moved to D.C. in 1998, and live their Gyros! They are flavourful, juicy and delicious!
The meat is carved off a spit right in front of your eyes, so you know it is fresh and not frozen!
The owner is very friendly and their service is professional!
I highly recommend this place!
PS
It is on Connecticut Avenue in Cleveland Park, so it great for people watching, and do not forget to catch a movie at the Art Deco Uptown Movie theatre!

If you are in Cleveland Park and looking for fresh food done fast and done well, you have to visit Byblos. I am a regular because they ALWAYS deliver the goods. Mostly Greek classics, but enough other items that everyone will find something super (like a killer ribeye steak and cheese sandwich). This is not a phony theme place with a bar. It is a terrific small deli where the focus is on the food. The baba ganoush is house made daily and the best I have ever had. Salads, hummus, gyros—all great. I’m now hooked on the roasted half chicken dinner that comes with savory rice and a Greek salad. If you are near the Zoo and need to feed your herd, skip all other places and come here. All the kid classics (hotdog, nuggets, etc), but also great adult food fast and reasonably priced. The owner and his long-time crew take great pride and it shows. It’s not a surprise why you’ll almost always find police, fire, medical, students and service workers getting food to go: great food, priced correctly, and served fast. You need to check it out.

Stumbled upon Byblos on the recommendation of an officer we passed. Delicious! Wish we had a Greek restaurant at home this authentic and good!

They have the BEST Philly Cheesesteaks. We went to Philly and tried some of the "best" but this wins the prize. It is perfectly balanced - cheese, meat, peppers, grease. Yum. The people who run it are nice too.

We found this restaurant on yelp while exploring the area of DC by the National Cathedral. We had totally missed lunchtime and we were hungry! We decided to hike over to Connecticut Ave bc it was a hot day and Greek food sounded perfect.
At first glance the place itself appears a bit rundown - the menu board and outdoor tables have seen better days- but then I saw the chef preparing fresh ground meatballs for the kebabs and I was certain that nothing would be frozen, and everything would be ok. I was right!
We tried to order two half chickens but they were sold for the afternoon. We later saw how busy this place is all day- several regulars walked in asking “what do you have for me today?” While we sat enjoying our lunch.
We had two grilled chicken platters- I substituted a Greek salad for rice. The dressing is homemade and was a highlight of the meal. The food was excellent. Super flavorful. Nice portion. So fresh! JUICY tomatoes even.
We will absolutely return time and time again.
Highly recommended
