We ate at Chaumiere following a recommendation, Georgetown is by all accounts full of restaurants but we were all happy with our choice. The food was well prepared, lots of choice, and very tasty. We had a good mix of starters, snails, soup, and the salmon. Mains were beef, scollops, and a salmon. All lovely. Wine pretty good, but not... More

If I could eat a little of every dish I would; all so difficult choosing what you want from all these succulent dishes and if you are like me liking many dishes you are in trouble. Though, not to miss the sole out of this world, and as an appetizer the escargots de Bourgogne or the cheese soufflé. A must... More

Four of us enjoyed a wonderful lunch today. Everything was just great - food, ambiance and service. The bread was fresh and crunchy and the salads were innovative and wonderful, Their fish stew rocked - although it could have used a few more clams. The soufflés provided and finish to a very fine meal. Bottom line - I would go... More

The trout, lobster bisque and french onion soup were very good however the Fricassée du Pêcheur was extremely salty so much so that it was barely eatable, and the Cassoulet "Toulousain" was also very disappointing. Service was just okay and we were seated upstairs and that location has absolutely no atmosphere.

Excellent food and service in a warm country atmosphere. The menu is classic French, the nFricassee is outstanding and the Cassoulet is the Gold Standard (served on Thursday -- order ahead as they do run out). Other outstanding dishes are the country Pate and the Souffle Grand Marnier. The wine list tends to the French and is more than satisfactory.... More

Although I have been to Washington (Georgetown) several times in recent years I had not been to La Chaumiere in many, many years. The food and service was just as good as I remembered. Many French classics that were very good----escargot, cassoulet. Good bottle of wine at a reasonable price.

I had read about this restaurant when looking for a nice place for dinner in Georgetown. The reviews noted it to be low key and delicious. First let me say that we arrived in jeans and sweaters (we are tourists after all), everyone else was slightly more dressed up. I tried not to let that make me uncomfortable, and, very... More

Be surprised by real french cuisine in Georgetown. A wide menu with french classics offered for a gentle staff

While not a cheap dining experience the food and wine certainly exquisite. The food was faultless, service impeccable. Lobster bisque and sweetbreads were stunning. The fillet mignon was tender, duck with cassis, lamb rack and pepper steak all beautifully prepared. No extra sides required. The first place we experienced that the waiter filled in the gratuity before giving us the invoice.
