Had Thanks giving dinner...the stuffing was solo..my kids duck ws tough, my wife steak was hard on the outside and undercooked on the inside. The desserts were mediocre at best (bread pudding worse). On the good side, the salad was good, the service was very good...the food mediocre and the value, not worth it.

The Oval l Room Cobb Salad was barely edible. Strange, grey chicken coated in a dressing, 3 lumps of blue cheese tucked under lifeless green leaves, a few bacon crumbles. I treated a friend to lunch to thank her for a special favor. She had the shrimp salad, no comment either way. We had chocolate mousse for dessert, it appeared... More

all business venues were like the Oval Room: the cuisine is light and full of flavours, if not particularly creative, the service attentive and the decor bright and airy. Top marks for the Patagonia salmon. PS: bread is not such a hit, like many restaurants in town

The Oval Room is a fairly modern, very high end restaurant in downtown Washington, DC, close to business and government offices and sites. Politico and other sightings are common. The food is exceptional, as is the highly trained and professional service staff. The menu changes, but there are few options where you can go wrong. The chef is adept at... More

What a disappointment. Something went wrong. The cob salad - normally very good was just terrible poorly plate don't poor quality. I did not want to upset my host. But had he been American and not Asian I would have immediately refused the plate. Disgraceful. That is the Oval room off my list. Basics matter and they just didn't care... More

Was taken here by a group of lawyer friends from Singapore, Germany and England. Was a very American restaurant and was skeptical as to whether I would get anything to eat being a vegetarian and who doesn't eat onion and garlic. When I expressed my diet preference, was pointed out that on the menu they have sweet corn angolotti. Did... More

Too many new restaurants are overhyped and the reality never lives up to the expectation. The Oval Room needs no hyperbole. The service is impeccable, the ambience most pleasant and the food excellent. This is fine dining in the contemporary sense of the word. Each dish was conceptually original and executed perfectly. We were happy to speak with the chef... More

Oval Room has a perfect balance of a nice venue, good location and great food. This place is great for lunch or dinner, either for a business meeting or a memorable pleasure time. I encourage starting the experience with an "Oval Room" salad. For entrée don't miss the Duck or Amish Chicken. And for dessert my top choice is the... More

None of the entrees were ordinary. The prawns were very large, prepared as shrimp and grits in a manner much more interesting and enjoyable than I had previously encountered in locations much farther south. Poached lobster with andouille sausage was a new item and was thoroughly enjoyable. The delicious hazelnut financier dessert included a dollop of creme brulee, cherries, apple... More
