The chilli maybe Hormell chilli its almost identical. It's very spicy and flavorless. Also the fries are soggy, the cheese is decent, but not something to remember forever. The worst part about the U street location besides that it's filthy and disgusting, is the horrible...More

I had the Chili Cheese Half Smoke and it was delicious! Not only is the food amazing, but the restaurant is a community hub. Add in the rich history associated with Ben's and you have a meaningful and tastey experience! Sorry I was too busy...More

Ben's is rich in history and atmosphere. The food is classic American diner AND they also have veggie hot dogs and chili! Friendly staff! Fun ambience! AND they helped us find a lost item and mailed it to us too! Thank you Ben's!

Here's the recipe: Take a McDonald's dollar menu cheeseburger, remove the pickles, added 2 or 3 tablespoons of nothing special chili. That's it. I can't recall the last time I got so little for my money. This was the worst, wimpiest chili burger I've ever...More

The fries and chili, both regular and vegetarian are gluten free. I'm gf and eat there regularly. I also get a half smoke in a plate, no bun, with the works. Ask them to split it and the grill it twice... Nice and crispy!
