We were in DC for a few days and friends told us to go here - so glad we did. When we walked in we were greeted by Virginia and ended up chatting for ages about the history of the place. a wonderful experience. food was great, the vibe was cool, and the pictures on the wall; wow!

YES YES YES!!! You must visit Ben's Chili Bowl while you're in DC. It's a true historical gem!!! My friend and I were very lucky when we arrived to find a table, as just minutes later the place was packed with a line out the door. The service was great and one of the owners came to our table to... More

Stopped by to sample a local place. The place was jumping. We were greeted with big smiles. The chili is slightly spicy. We had the half smoke dog which is a smoked sausage. It is surely worth at least 1 visit.

We were walking by and decided to go in. I was happy we did. I had the half smoke and it was good. The staff were nice and efficient. No wait/line for service but we were a little early in the lunch time. But if nothing else, check out the walls for pics of people who have been there. Very... More

This place isn't really about the food, it's about all the history surrounding it. Don't expect your mind to be blown. It's standard cheap food, which is fast food and unhealthy. The service was fantastic, really impressed with how friendly they were. You have to have the half smoke and the chilli cheese fries. This ain't fine dining, but it's... More

The food and atmosphere is fine---food is not truly unusual and place does not warrant all the attention it gets. I haven't sen anyone express the "wow" factor when they are there--mostly just a "casual sanctification" is shown.

The line was long, but worth the wait. We enjoyed the food, but the wait staff and cooks were engaging and knowledgeable. It was fun to hear stories about famous patrons. Parking is tricky , so plan well.

Best chili in the country. The half pork and beef hot dog is over the top. Loved it so much I sought out their site at the Reagan Airport. This is also a historical site and sits in a historical neighborhood. Walking tour app available and a wonderful little museum nearby. Spread your wings and check out this area.

This is definitely a place not to miss when you are in DC. I felt I am part of history when I set my foot on the place. Got the chance to read the wall displays while waiting for my order. Due to the volume of customers, my order came after 10 minutes but it is worth the wait. The... More

Needless to say I saw this on an episode of Man-vs-Food and figured the next time I was in DC that I had to visit. All i can say is that I am glad I had the TV on that day and remembered the name of this place; it was worth the visit. There is a lot of history there... More
