Opened in 1963, Clyde's of Georgetown qualifies as an institution. This animated tavern in the heart of Washington's most famous neighborhood popularized saloon food and practically invented Sunday brunch. More than 50 years later, Clyde's continues the tradition, serving classic American cuisine to Georgetown locals and famous faces while passers-by stop in and mingle at the long oak bar. The re-designed interior is an open invitation to the restaurant's life and times with its many travel posters, paintings, and bronze statues. Clyde's of Georgetown remains a Washington classic.

Great spot for dinner

We dined here the evening we flew in from the UK and it was exactly what we needed. Good, honest menu, nicely done, lively atmosphere , good surroundings and great service. What's not to like.

In addition to the excellent location on M street, the service at Clyde's is friendly and professional. On a Wednesday evening in February it was packed and there was a great atmosphere. The main downside is the food. It is the sort of standard of food you would expect at a sports bar. Certainly not restaurant standard. My steak salad... More

I loved this place! Here alone on business, I sat at the bar on a Sunday night, and it was very relaxed, the people were friendly, the staff were also friendly. The burger and fries were perfect, and I'm a burger connoisseur for sure. But there are a lot more options. The prices were reasonable. And the music was good,... More

After lots of research on Trip Advisor my friends and I decided to make reservations here for dinner one night of our girls trip and we were not disappointed. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation but were able to be seated right away near the window in the dining room. The noise level was perfect for conversation.... More

We went to Clyde's during a conference we were attending in Georgetown. We had been there before and knew to make a reservation especially on the weekend or at night. The wait staff was excellent. We loved watching them walk with five to six huge plates balanced from their shoulder to fingertips. The food was excellent and the menu had... More

We were fortunate to find space at the bar as the restaurant was very busy. We had great salads (a friese and grapefruit and ceasar). We split 2 crabcakes and found them to be some of the best crabcakes we have had anywhere. We would definitely return if we are in Georgetown.
