We opened Pizzeria Paradiso so we could make the kind of pizza we longed for but couldn’t find in the DC area; the kind of pizza where the crust was the most important part. To create that crust, we start with a wood-burning, domed, stone oven able to cook at a temperature of 650 degrees and above. Then we placed the oven at the heart of the restaurant so our guests would feel the warmth and comfort of its glow evocative of the warmth felt in a close friend’s home. Next, we developed a dough that would respond to our oven the way we dreamed. We let our dough rise slowly, work it by hand, lightly grace it with the finest quality toppings, finish it with extra virgin olive oil and cook it in our…
We walked in about 30min before closing and staff was super polite and accommodating. We got to basic cheese and pepperoni pizzas ($18/each) and finished it all between the four of us. Good pizza, nice atmosphere and good beer. Menu had many options for pizza...but rest was rather limited. Enjoyed our dinner and would go backMore
We tried Pizzeria Paradiso for the first time during our May 2021 DC trip. We were staying at Hyatt Place (National Mall) and used Door Dash. We ordered the Insalata Mista salad (mixed greens, red onion, cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives, & balsamic vinaigrette; $9). We...also ordered the Crostini Formaggio di Capra (toasted homemade bread, goat cheese, prosciutto di Parma, sun dried tomatoes, & basil; $9)… this was amazing and so delicious! The homemade bread was fantastic. We also ordered two 12” pizzas- a Paradiso (sauce, pepperoni, & cheese; $18), and a Macellaio (sauce, pepperoni, sausage, red onion, & cheese; $21). The pizzas are not saucy at all. My daughter & husband missed having a lot of sauce, but I didn’t mind- I loved it. The pizzas are cooked in a wood-burning domed stone oven and makes the crust so delicious! We definitely would get pizza from here again, and definitely in person versus Door Dash (travel time affects the freshness & temperature of the food) so we can experience everything fresh out of the oven.More
This is the second time I have eaten at this restaurant. The 1st time was dining in and the second was take out. The PIZZA was amazing and everything that they make. Very busy location so reservations is suggested.
I was shocked to find that the pizza crust tasted like cardboard. I live in a small town in Idaho where the pizza and crust is what I thought crust should taste like. Our pizza tasted like cardboard, frozen pizza. The staff did their job,...but the pizza wasn't worth a trip back here.More
Stopped for a quick bite before the big game. I had been there a few years back while visiting DC. Decided to stop in. I was seated quickly. Service was excellent. The pizza is as good as I remembered. Had a glass of Malbec wine...- very nice and diverse wine list. Added a salad which was great with the 9 inch pie. Nice to know that they have maintained the quality of food and service.More
the waitress was very accommodating and made sure to answer any questions i had. the pizza was excellent and not very similar to other stone bake pizzas i've had in the past, so it sets it apart from others, not better or worse, just different,...but very tasty. Would go back againMore
