This was our second visit to Taberna. It was a spur of the moment decision but it confirmed again that if you want delicious Spanish food in a setting that is elegant but quiet enough to actually have a lunch time conversation in DC, this...More

I, an amateur foodie, living in this area, became a patron of La Taberna Del Alabardero when it first opened in DC decades ago and remain a frequent patron. A genuine Spanish restaurant. Superb ambiance, service, cuisine, and wine list. As to be expected, there...More

There is a lot that sets it apart, starting from the warm and cozy colors of the walls to the knowledgeable and friendly service. And, of course, the eclectic menu.(recommend: start with the Chistorra, Huevo Frito y Patatas). I'll definitely visit this restaurant more often.

A Spanish cuisine restaurant that serves both tapas and full meals. I went early and alone to avoid the rush, but it seemed to me it would make a wonderful romantic setting for a couple. There was a Flamenco guitarist who serenaded the restaurant. I...More

My wife and I were looking for drink and something light to eat after a long tour of Washington. We came across this Spanish restaurant. We sat outside, had a beer and tapas. It was a perfect rest spot.

Taberna Del Alabardero (TDA) is a world class restuarant. Non-descript from the outside, but as soon as you step inside the red-drenched walls and massive white moulding, you feel like you have stepped into Madrid. All of the food is classic elegant Spanish food. The...More
