Established in 1856, the Old Ebbitt Grill was a favorite of Presidents Grant, Cleveland, Harding, and Theodore Roosevelt. The restaurant's decor is comprised of a Beaux-Arts facade, mahogany and velvet booths, and bars set in marble, brass, and beveled glass. Old Ebbitt serves a diverse selection of food including steaks, seafood, pasta, sandwiches, and also features an Oyster Bar with oysters form both coasts. Open early for breakfast and weekend brunch, and serving lunch, dinner and a late-night menu. Private and semi-private dining rooms including a rooftop overlooking the monuments and The White House.

Best meal in DC! Crab cakes are a must. The staff recommended the meatloaf, and I always take local advice. It was fantastic. Ended with key lime pie, since we can’t get “real” key lime pie in Maine. It was a taste explosion. I’d fly...down just for dinner at Old Ebbitt Grill!More

Excellent dining experience! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. Everything was excellent starting with the hummus appetizer, crab cakes were excellent and bread pudding for dessert.

Unique restaurant. Bar is huge and the service is great. Definitely stop here even if just for a drink. Food was amazing too. Make reservations if you want a table.

We dined here with a business associate. The service was superb. The ambiance was old time Washington D.C. with plenty of wood and leather. We enjoyed the cheese sampler appetizer and the walrus plate appetizer as well. Dinner was great as was the dessert.

Awesome historical restaurant! We went with two kids and had an amazing time. Had the crab cake which was excellent. Place was very busy but still comfortable with kids. Would definitely return!

My husband and I ALWAYS make a point to visit J-Luke at Old Ebbit whenever we are in DC. We are definitely guilty of going twice in one weekend! From the first time we met J-Luke a few years ago he has made us feel...like family. He not only serves up great food and drink with a smile, he makes a point to introduce folks to each other at the bar and gets a real buzz going like a small neighborhood establishment, only in the heart of the city across from the Whitehouse! We highly encourage stopping in - tell him Erin and Paul from Boston sent you!More

The service was impeccable (our waiter referred to my wife as "Ma'am", because his mom was from North Carolina...), the food was great, and the drinks were not a meager pour. Enjoy!

Good meal and atmosphere for a decent price. The menu was diverse and had something for everyone. Would do again in a heart beat.

I tried to post the website but it won’t let me do html in the question area. There is a menu button and when you click on it the drop down list has a wine selection with prices.

I found the lighting to be great. Definitely not bright. Yes, there was valet parking and jeans were acceptable. We were there early evening on a Saturday.
