Old Ebbitt Grill is the oldest restaurant and bar in Washington, DC. Local legend has it that the original was a hunting lodge. We ate in the Grant Bar, named after Civil War general Ulysses S. Grant, and there's a painting of him there. It's in the back of the restaurant and more conducive to talk. Other parts of the... More

The food and service was wonderful!!! We did have a wait of about 1 hour for our table, which we knew when we checked in at the hostess stand and it was well worth it!! I want to especially thank the bartender who recognized that we were trying to get a drink while waiting for our table. Every seat at... More

Everytime I'm in DC, this is the one place the food, drinks and service is always spot on. Its always busy but the wait at the bar is a good excuse to kill some time. Bartenders are very good and personable to make the time pass quickly.

Great place! We went for lunch and got in right away. Had delicious salmon burger, crab cakes and fish and chips! Our waitress was super nice too.

The location of this restaurant is in the heart of all of the great things to do in Washington. It is very busy and bit noisy but the food was great.

Reservations are a must for this old time DC restaurant. The food prices are very reasonable, but reservations are a must. Even if you elect to eat at one of the four bars, they're still crowded. I ordered calf's liver with onions, sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes. The server said that their calves liver was sliced in house every morning.... More

I reserved our table on Open Table and we were seated promptly at our reservation time and were treated like queens. What a beautiful and charming restaurant! Our initial questions regarding the menu were thoroughly answered and we were well attended to throughout our meal by our waiter, Doug. My ribeye steak and my friend's steak salad were so scrumptious... More

We stopped at Old Ebbitt Grill for lunch without having any idea of how wonderful it would be! We were seated within 5 minutes as promised. Our waitress was attentive and informative, giving us information on the dishes. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere is fun with lots of great paintings of the city. Crab cake sliders were... More
