Established in 1856, the Old Ebbitt Grill was a favorite of Presidents Grant, Cleveland, Harding, and Theodore Roosevelt. The restaurant's decor is comprised of a Beaux-Arts facade, mahogany and velvet booths, and bars set in marble, brass, and beveled glass. Old Ebbitt serves a diverse selection of food including steaks, seafood, pasta, sandwiches, and also features an Oyster Bar with oysters form both coasts. Open early for breakfast and weekend brunch, and serving lunch, dinner and a late-night menu. Private and semi-private dining rooms including a rooftop overlooking the monuments and The White House.

Nothing is more of a DC fixture than Old Ebbitt Grill. I love the decor, nudes, Ulysses Grant, other Americana. The bar is this giant edifice - It's so masculine. It was our 10th Anniversary. Very professional wait staff. Wife got crab cake. I got...the burger I think. Although the food was great, you don't go here for the food. You go for the experience.More

Heard all kinds of great things about the place, so took a party of five for lunch there on Sunday and it was packed. So much so with Covid, they sat us in an outdoor vestibule of an adjoining hotel. So everything is expensive and...besides sitting in a lobby, the server does not even bring bread and butter to a $200 lunch bill. Food was average at best and the ambiance sucked so to me it is not recognized as 5 Star. Be a tourist and maybe try it once but I can not even say I was there, because I wasn't-I was at a over priced and poorly served college cafeteria, at best. Not worth it for me.More

This was not my first visit to Old Ebbitt Grill. Had breakfast twice and it was amazing. If you like Eggs Benedict you’re going to love theirs! They have one that includes lump crab with them and they’re amazing! We did dinner and again I...was not surprised how good this place was! First I had an assortment of raw oysters and also some shrimp cocktail to start with. Very good oysters!!! For my entree I chose the meatloaf and it was very good! So I’d say if you’re hungry and looking for a great place with great food especially seafood, this is your place! Knock your socks off good!!!More

Best grits ever tasted! I actually selected my entree based on the sides offered. I was not disappointed! The grits were truly the best ever tasted. I’m not a huge lover of collards, but these were great. The apples were delicious. The pork chop was...thick, cooked perfectly and also delicious. This restaurant has been on my bucket list of DC restaurants and it was a delight. Service was 5 star as well!More

My sister and I and another pair of sisters took a break from The Return to have a nice meal. Old Ebbitt Grill was within walking distance and my husband and I had been here about 2 years ago and enjoyed our meal then. Robert...was a great, seasoned, experienced server - his timing and attending to our refills on tea and water were impeccable. In addition the calamari was out of this world. Would highly recommend. One of the sisters required gluten free foods and Robert was right on it. Overall a great meal and FABULOUS serrviceMore

So, this is a DC Institution & its really fun to go here and have some pub grub, but this is NOT a Gastro-Pub. If you have a sensitive tummy, order soup and a cocktail in a fishbowl and enjoy the scene!

This restaurant was recommended to me by a hotel concierge. The food was very good and it was a relaxing atmosphere. I was told a table was not available so I had my lunch at the bar. I realized they prefer singles to sit at...the bar or at least that was my impression of the host. I will eat there again when I am in DC.More

I tried to post the website but it won’t let me do html in the question area. There is a menu button and when you click on it the drop down list has a wine selection with prices.

I found the lighting to be great. Definitely not bright. Yes, there was valet parking and jeans were acceptable. We were there early evening on a Saturday.
