We selected the all you can eat option for dinner and were thoroughly satisfied from all the choices and flavors. Our favs are the stuffed peppers, flatbread, trout, lamb lasagna, chicken skewers. Lovely! The food kept coming and we kept eating. No room for dessert!...Service was attentive and our Outdoor seating was convenient. Highly recommend.More

Eater beware!! Ambar's much ballyhooed try everything menu is really "managed dining" as they clearly work hard to reduce the overall amount of food you receive for $25/person. The waiter takes first orders and then disappears for long periods to slow down your ability to...order again or reorder an item you might like. We had to constantly flag down other waiters to try and order new items, ask where our food was, ask why items never showed up, and get our drinks refilled. Our party of 6 had the gratuity added, so our waiter had no incentive to provide even barebones service. We do not recommend eating here due to the incredibly long waits for food to come out, dwindling food amounts, wrong items delivered to our table, and surly waiter attitude throughout. The price is too high for the small amount of food you receive and extremely disappointing service. Go elsewhere.More

Plenty of seating options on the 3 floors plus sidewalk patio. An upbeat atmosphere with meal package pricing and many Eastern European selections. We loved the lasagna, soooo creamy! Other hits were the sausage, sourdough balls, and the mixed vegetables. We were disappointed in the...meatballs and cauliflower.More

This place is amazing! All you can eat and drink! You can seriously OD on the food. We wanted one of everything! Our server had us order a lot of food all at once and we followed her advice but got stuffed halfway through their...2 hour time limit. (Not that we saw it being enforced) so here are some tips…….eat breakfast then a light lunch, you want to be hungry when you come here. Try to order 2-4 plates at a time so you have time to digest and enjoy your drinks. (We had food coming nonstop and didn’t want it to get cold so we never stopped eating). Then have a round of drinks before the dessert course. This is our plan for next time.More

You gotta come! Cheese pie—excellent. Blonde waiter with arm tattoos - great. Just an overall fun time. Food comes out as the kitchen is ready so don’t be impatient — the food is coming. Get reservations early, it fills up quick.

Recommended to us by a hotel employee, this was a fantastic place for supper. We tried all kinds of foods that were new to us. The atmosphere was nice and it wasn’t too loud. We could actually hear each other talk. Very nice!

Being from out of town I used Tripadvisor to find a unique restaurant. Deciding on Ambar Capitol Hill hoping reviews were accurate. I'm happy to say they were. The service was great, Daniel was our server. He was very nice and understood we didn't have...any idea what to order. We got the eat all you want option. Daniel had a variety of dishes coming out regularly with information about each dish. His favorite was the lasagna. It turned out to be our favorite too. We never would have ordered lasagna. So glad Daniel chose the dishes. We're pretty big eaters and we were more than full at the end of dinner. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone.More

Met friends there for dinner and drinks. Interesting Eastern European wine selection, good taste reasonable prices. Food was excellent. Sharing plates with a wide selection of meat, fish and vegetarian tapas like plates. If you want let the wait staff bring suggestions. And try a...lot of different Eastern European dishes. There is a 2 hour time limit on a reservation because of the all you can eat. We did not make it to 2 hour list and we tried a number of dishes and were full.More

Really enjoyed having our server bring various dishes for us to try, and everyone in my family found a favorite. I enjoyed the cevapi and sarma! Great way to try new dishes. Our server helped deliver value and took great care of us.

From start to finish the staff was professional and helpful. The all you can eat/drink menus are the way to go so that everyone has something they like and it is fun to try all the different things. After one drink the price of the...beverages pays for itself. Quality food, if not all totally balkans, that is well prepared and tasty. The bathrooms and restaurant were very clean. My only criticism is the tables were just a bit small for the serving style. I understand the lack of floor space and also to likely not have people order a ton of food they don’t finish, but it made some of the meal feel a bit rushed to get plates cleared away. This is actually a very small thing. Worth the cost and at least one visit if you aren’t local.More

We hadn't been here since before the pandemic. It was still okay, but there are problems. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable, but he didn't deliver our food. Runners did, and they seemed confused. We never got one dish that we ordered twice. Two employees...told us essentially that service on the third floor was hit-or-miss. The food was pretty good. I don't see any point in discussing specific dishes, since you can order a bumch. Some we liked a lot, some not as much. YMMV. But nothing we ate was either awful or truly outstanding. We would likely return here someday, but not any time soon. All-you-can-eat is fun, especially when there are so many little plates. But neither the food nor the service was great. I still think that maybe three stars was right, but my wife thinks four. She and Ambar get the benefit of the doubt. This time, at least.More

This was our first experience of Balkan food. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and the cuisine. The food was delicious and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Food is over rated and too greasy. As a born and raised Eastern European, I know a thing or two about our cuisine so this review is written through the eyes of someone who grew up with this food and wanted to reminisce. We ordered...the menu for 2, to feed our family. The highlights were the salad with feta cheese and the marinated chicken. I highly recommend those. Aside from these, everything was way too greasy and flavor was sacrificed at its expense. Our Eastern European bread is home made bread, and is NOT greasy. We pickle a variety of vegetables so I ordered pickles. The pickled cauliflower was a delight, but it was more of half a cauliflower floret, 2 halves pickles, some pickled carrots, and the rest was pickled onion. So much picked onion. That was disgusting. I will not order from here again and cannot recommend it unless you are into greasy food.More
