I usually like Legal Sea Food, but this experience was weak. The appetizer was cool rather than hot. The quality of the fish seemed poor. Another table received our food (first). For the price, I felt like like we overpaid. I want go back and will think twice before going back to the chain anywhere.

Eating at Legal Seafood makes dining gluten-free so much easier and provides many options. The food is served hot and perfectly prepared. There were fried fish and potato options that were gf and I was given additional assurances that gf options are fried in separate oil. What a treat to have fried foods. Relaxed atmosphere and well-timed service made our... More

Superb always fresh seafood. Fast and good service. When seated in bar area, guaranteed friendly conversations with fellow customers. Nice view at the Verizon center outside.

Excellent restaurant for fish lovers. Atmosphere on Saurday night was buzzing but they were still able to accomodate a specific diet request. The waiting staff were helpful and quick to offer refills and extra rolls. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We had visited the restaurant in Boston and enjoyed it there so hoped it would live up to expectations. I... More

Reserved table before game 5 of the CAPS playoffs-- they were very helpful and let me add people to our reservation. The service and meal were excellent--grilled shrimp; shrimp and ribs combo; grilled salmon---good beer too!

What an amazing dining experience! We went for lunch and ordered Portuguese fisherman's stew and the seafood casserole. Our server, LaToya, was very personable. She has a knack for knowing her customers. The rolls she brought were warm crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside. She helped us pain our beverages with our meal, and sold us on the... More

Great service, atmosphere & food. Higher end but worth the price as the food & service was better than expected. I felt under-dressed, but due to their location in reference to the capitol they had no dress code. I got salmon with sauteed spinach & it was done well. I prefer more garlic in my sauteed spinach, but this worked.... More

We were looking for seafood for our evening meal in DC and selected Legal Sea Foods. Service was very good and our food delicious. I had a filet and lobster combo for main which was really nice. A relaxed place to eat at your leisure. Thoroughly recommended.

Even though I went alone, I chose to sit in the restaurant--versus the bar area--though you can order food in both places. I found the range of seafood options to be diverse and reasonably priced. The is a good variety of salads, appetizers, and beverages--alcoholic and otherwise--as well. The service was excellent and the food tasty. I did not have... More

I went there for a business dinner and enjoyed being able to hear my business partner sitting across the table, unlike in other crowded, loud places in the city. Service is impeccable! The wine selection is wide. I had the crab cakes, they were delicious

Description
The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. A bipartisan favorite, we have occupied the nation’s capital since 1995, anchored across from the Verizon Center and around the corner from the International Spy Museum, National Portrait Gallery and Chinatown. Make waves at our racetrack-shaped bar or sup on seafood underneath the hull-like ceiling in our restaurant’s main dining room. Either way, be presidential and order a cup of our New England Clam Chowder; it’s been served at every Inauguration since 1981. Other accolades include “Best Place for Great Seafood” (Washingtonian Magazine, 2008) and “Best Crab Cakes” (Washingtonian Magazine, 2008)
