This is a large, warm pub. The menu includes very interesting cocktails as well as beers and wines, and the food is better than the ordinary pub food while maintaining the same level of "comfort." I recommend the rye manhattan. Daily blackboard food specials are...More

Went to this location for the first time in my life. I ordered their chicken pot pie which was served piping hot. Quick service for a less formal dining experience. Prices may be a bit on the high side. The location gets very busy and...More

Don't know why people go here. Kind of makes me mad that they do when there are places with better food, better prices, more interesting atmosphere, that deserve their money more. The salad I had was well prepared, with good ingredients, but my friends both...More

It took forever for waiter to come to our table. The restaurant and bar was not busy. He was just to preoccupied talking to a coworker. He had little knowledge of the menu and seemed annoyed that we asked any questions. Food was adequate, but...More

Came here for a quick bite. The staff was friendly but the food was average. I us the French dip which fell flat and sorry but old bay chips just don't thrill me. Everything was lukewarm and the coleslaw was bland... Cool bartender and I...More

Place was very nice inside and staff was great, VG. Onion soup was not hot and the onions should have had a some texture to them. They were more on the overly soft side. The burgers that were recommended were cooked exactly how we asked...More

From the appetizers to the main dishes all our plates were tasty, a good size and overall delicious. The service was exceptional, very friendly staff and the whiskey bread pudding was exquisite!

Staff were superb, and the drink's were cheap. Food was good and the atmosphere was always different. Definitely on my list for a return visit - when I'm next in Washington!

They have a special room you might ask about. In my view they could accommodate your group. Check the web for the prices. I thought they were reasonable.

Description
K Street, the road to the White House, is also the proud home to P.J. Clarke’s—the storied American Saloon with a history that dates back to the late 1800s. The original P.J. Clarke’s in Manhattan has stood beneath rows of skyscrapers for nearly 130 years, collecting famous and infamous regulars. Appreciated for the convivial ambiance and classic fare, P.J. Clarke’s is the quintessential American Saloon.
In our nation’s capitol, the story continues as oak and mosaic floors, red leather banquets and walls lined with eccentric portraits and nostalgic photos contribute to a reassuring familiarity that is classic P.J.s, but also construe a distinct Washington sensibility. Seasoned bartenders make favorite classic cocktails the right way; dexterous shuckers ply the freshest shellfish at a marble topped Raw Bar; and the old-school, convivial dining room welcomes government A-listers, students and their families and visitors to our capitol.
