Hubs took me there as a special treat. It was amazing. Our server was the best server we have ever had at any restaurant. He was attentive without being intrusive, helpful without being pushy and overall one of the nicest human beings I have ever met. We ordered some shrimp for the appetizer. It was fantastic. The bread basket for the table had a great selection and it was hard not to fill up on the bread. I ordered a filet, medium and hubby ordered a rib eye, also medium. We got brussel sprouts, creamed spinach and scalloped potatoes as sides. We also both got Caesar salads. Everything was amazing. My steak was cooked perfectly and I am picky. The scalloped potatoes were the best I have ever eaten. We were stuffed but made room for dessert. We shared a creme brûlée. I am not a coffee drinker but our server said the barista made a great mocha so I ordered one. It was heavenly. One of the best meals I have ever eaten. We will go back.

Have eaten here a few times over the years and have great memories and also have had great meals. Ate here again with family (special occasion) and I felt bad that it was over two years since the prior visit. This is just a special restaurant and they place a premium on customer service and food quality. We were seated fairly promptly; didn't expect to be seated spot on time and never do, and they kept us informed of the slight delay, why, and got us to our table as quickly as possible. Service is always awesome; they have a fairly broad-ranging staff and someone is always available. I like the idea that several people introduce themselves to you and take responsibility for your needs. Bar is pretty spectacular. If you want a martini, although I stay away from sweet drinks, try the Stoli Doli (macerated pineapple infused vodka, shaken and cold. It is pretty perfect and carries the pineapple flavor well. It is a constant feature, and something I always like seeing on the bar. All the drinks are carefully done. Wine list is pretty awe-inspiring. Sommelier help is available. Prices are high, but about average for restaurants in DC by and large. There are a few bargains on there if you know where to look or enlist the sommelier. Food is why you go to a steak place (and notably steak is why you go), and the food is very, very good. Steaks tend a little larger than some other places, but are beautifully aged and cooked. You can feel confident about the doneness. I lean to bone-in cuts and they are big. Sides are also large. We love their mushrooms, the spinach, the cauliflower au gratin, and their wedge salad. Potatoes are very good. We went widely through the dessert list, but the favorite clearly was the key lime pie. Nothing unworthy of a great steak place. All in all a classic. Feels like a great steak place. Smells like a great steak place. Looking forward to returning already. Thanks particularly to Jared.

Wife took me here for my Bday Dinner and although we had a reservation we still had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated even though most of the tables were empty. Our waiter (Edwin R) was great. He really did an excellent job explaining the drinks and meal along with the house favorites. My wife had the Sea Bass and I had the Porcini Bone-in RibEye. My wife really love the Sea Bass and said it was the best she has ever had. Said the flavor was terrific throughout the whole fish. My Ribeye was very charred, but cook just the way I asked, medium. It had a great balsamic flavor and for a ribeye there was alot of excess fat. For dessert they brought over two samplers since it was my birthday. The cheesecake cake was really light, and the caramelized top gave it some extra flavor. The flourless chocolate cake was good, but felt more like a moose. Great dinner and really good service from all of the wait staff. Looking forward to another visir

Had a lovely pre-Valentine’s Day dinner, too-notch service and wonderful food. Oysters, fresh and perfect. Lobster bisque, thick with huge chunks of meat. Tomato & burrata, fabulous. We split a “tomahawk” steak, aged and prepared to perfection. We ordered 2 shareable sides (green beans and sautéed spinach), one would have been plenty but we enjoyed both. Complementary chocolate covered strawberries & champagne completed the celebration, along with a rose for me. Perfect pretty much sums it up! Great splurge for sweethearts.

This would've been a 5-star review, however, paying the tab ruined that. We ate Thanksgiving dinner here today, a group of eight service members who are temporarily working in D.C. and unfortunately away from their families. I purposely selected a nice restaurant for us to enjoy together as a makeshift family, and most of them have never ate a high-end restaurant before. The service and meals were all delicious! We all enjoyed our meals and the desserts they ordered. My gripe is the fact that we were forced to pay for the meal either on one person's tab or split it between three people because the waiter said that's the highest he was allowed to split the tab. This was not listed anywhere on their website nor was it posted on the menu or in the restaurant. It wasn't addressed by the waiter either, which most normally would inform patrons when a large group is present. This asinine requirement put a burden on the person that had to pay the full tab, as each member is required to use their individual government charge card for all official travel. Unfortunately, this put a damper on our evening and made it end on a less positive note. I tried to leave a comment on the website, but it kept denying me the ability to do so. This ridiculous policy needs to be updated or clearly posted on the menus or briefed ahead of time by the waiter. It is not that difficult separating tabs. Most, if not almost all, restaurants do this, so I do not understand why this restaurant could not. The staff were all friendly and professional. The atmosphere was great. Overall, it would've been "perfect" had each individual been allowed to pay for their own meals instead of making one person pay for all.

We made reservations at 7:30but arrived at 7:10 and our table was ready. We were seated in a corner which was nice because we were out of traffic flow. All staff wore masks & gloves. Our waitress was courteous and professional. I started with the field green salad, which was good. My husband had a cup of lobster bisque (which was much better than the lobster bisque at Ocean Prime) and then had a wedge salad which he said was super! I had the chicken breast on a bed of mushroom risotto (excellent!) and my husband had the ribeye which was perfectly cooked medium rare. We shared a table serving of Brussels sprouts (also excellent!). I had one glass of Pinot Grigio and my husband had one Maker’s Mark double. Our bill was $200. A nice relaxed evening!

I am not a steak connoisseur, and I generally don’t eat red meat. But I am afraid that if I lived in D.C., I would be indulging in it regularly at the Capital Grille, where my wife, 10-year-old daughter and I had a superb evening. Coming from China, my wife and daughter have experienced, and shared with me, the excellent steaks from Australia, but Capital Grille excels even these. We each had a different cut. All were sublime, but by all our admissions, mine was incredible. It was a generously sized dry-aged steak that had a porcini mushroom rub, and the only word to describe it is DELECTABLE. But that is only half the story. Our experience would not have been as completely satisfying were it not for our waiter, Mehdi. Not only did he expertly guide us through our choices (Brussels spouts to revise anyone’s opinion of this often unpopular dish), but he was charming, thoroughly engaging and blessed with a personality that readily engages trust! Proof of this was his ability to break through my child’s wall of reserve and to get her joking. Truly, Mehdi, was more than a mere server; he was a host who vitally contributed to an atmosphere of ease and pleasure in which we could relax and enjoy each other as well as our repast. To cap it off, Mehdi presented us with a sampling of two of their signature desserts. I cannot tell which was more pleasurable, the cheesecake or the flourless chocolate cake. Thank you, Capital Grille and Mehdi, for making our last evening in Washington one of the best experiences we took with us from our capital city!

Made reservations for my three nieces and me and while I was worried that I would arrive late due to my traveling from Pa, I actually arrived half hour early. I was asked if I would like to go ahead and be seated and was led to the table. The next 30 mins I engaged in conversation off and on with the gentleman who would be our server. When my nieces arrived I introduced them to Daniel who made them feel just as welcome. And thus the night of amazing food, superb service and fantastic company. I absolutely cannot wait to go back and will ask for Daniel's section. Hard to repeat perfection but I'm betting they can do it.

I have the ribeye steak sandwich and a lot of fat on the corners. The first half of the sandwich was edible when I got to the second half of the sandwich it was all fat, very disappointed b the waitress said she would let the cook know. I'm usually more forceful when I'm on a trip and I like to assert my dissatisfaction but since I was with people I did not do that Will not go back there.

A usual stop when we’re in DC because it never disappoints. Bill was an excellent server who saw that we enjoyed our meal. The ambiance is always relaxing and enjoyable only topped by the food. Each person’s steak was perfectly prepared for them. The sides were exceptional(especially the Brussels sprouts). We were celebrating an important birthday and were truly surprised by the celebration extended to the birthday honoree. Made the evening extra special. Cocktails were excellent.

A warm welcome when we arrived and then delightful service from Carlos in the bar where we enjoyed delicious pre-dinner cocktails (which were of a superb standard). Dinner was delicious - superb steaks and sides, really good quality beef and wine. The setting and environment is very special and the service is experienced and knowledgable. In short, a superb and attractive venue, delicious food and high quality service. We’ll be back!

Our family came in for an early dinner one day after touring the Capitol building and we were so glad we did. My very picky son said the chicken tenders he had were the best he’s ever ate, which is high praise from him. The rest of us agreed, definitely my favorite meal of our trip and one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time. Our server was Joey and he was knowledgeable of the options with my gluten allergy and he was also just a great guy! So glad we stumbled upon this restaurant, would highly recommend to anyone and if we return to the area this will definitely be our go to for dinner! Thanks so much for a great meal and service!

Being a foreigner, after 7 weeks in the US I wanted a decent meal and I found it here. We stopped in for lunch and I was surprised at how short their menu was. However, the selection was very nice and I found what I wanted as did my niece who I was treating. The portion sizes were great (not too big) and the flavours and presentation of the food were top notch. I really appreciated the design and layout of the restaurant which gave a feeling of warmth and coziness as well as class. The booths and tables were well spaced out and it was clear that a number of business meetings were taking place but the great thing was that you couldn't hear anyone else's conversation. Whilst I didn't have a steak my niece did and I had a taste and it was beautifully done as was the salmon I had. I checked on their dress code before I went and they wanted people to be smart business casual effectively. Whilst the vast majority of men were in suits, I did notice that they let in a few people in shorts later on which surprised me as the notice at the door specifically prohibited shorts. It is a bit on the expensive side but for the class of the establishment and the quality of the food, this is value for money. I'll definitely be coming back on my next visit to the US.

Fine dining as a special treat on our first night in DC and was not disappointed. Service was attentive and quick. We started with the Lump Crab appetizer, It was flavorful and adequate as an appetizer for us. Spouse ordered the Steak Au Poivre with a side of wild roasted mushrooms for his main course. I ordered the Sea bass with shitake mushroom, asparagus in miso sauce. We were both so delighted with our choices as they were both flavorful, cooked to perfection. Drinks weregood as well and the fresh berries on top a treat! Would highly recommend!
