This place is awesome, especially if you have never tried Ethiopian food before. The staff is extremely helpful and patient, and willing to explain dishes to you. I also have severe food allergies, and their team (and even chef) was very helpful in mitigating any allergy risks.

This was our first time trying Ethiopian food, and we were definitely not disappointed. The staff were so helpful and gave us advice on what to order, how to eat, etc. We ordered the vegan sampler platter for two and the lamb tibs, I give them 10/10. Highly recommend this place! Food was so flavorful.

The waitress was wonderful, recommending items based on what we said we like and had enjoyed in other Ethiopian restaurants. Everything was so delicious! And her recommendations about portions were right on. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. If we didn't live on the other side of the country, this would be a place to return to again and again.

Came here for dinner with a friends. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was really good, the wine selection was average. What warrants the two stars was really the service. This was definitely not a restaurant experience. We had to order our food from our phones like we were ordering takeout or delivery from home. We even had to pay for our meal and include a tip (or not) while placing our order, so even before the food came out. The server only came to deliver our food and pour more water. The entire experience was very disappointing.

Each table has a QR code for you to pull up the menu. I hadn't wanted to touch my phone and asked for a paper menu. Somehow, the items on the menu didn't look the same; though the waitress assures me it's the same offerings. We got the vegetarian sampler for one and went with the waitress's recommendation of beef tibs. The beef tibs flavor was really good, though overcooked, as it was tough. The dishes are meant to be single serving but it's a lot for one. What we ordered could've satisfied three adults. We didn't finish it all and felt awful having to waste food.

This was our first Ethiopian food experience and I must say we loved everything that we ate. Started off with a take on an Indian Samosa and we ordered the beef and lentil ones. Both were delicious although the puff batter was heavier than the Indian version. For dinner we had a Lamb dish and the meat sampler...All the meat items were delicious and they had an extra dose of protein as it had 2 boiled eggs along with the meats. The injera bread accompanying the food had a very soft texture but they were very filling. The lamb was dry and we would have preferred some gravy or sauce along with it. Service was warm and hospitable and the Ethiopian beer was refreshing too. Washington DC is definitely the best place to have Ethiopian food and this restaurant is definitely doing a good job representing their cuisine. If my travels bring me back I would love to come back and try more dishes.

We arrived at a very busy time, when the restaurant was clearly slammed; we were seated but waited a long time to be served at all, something the server instantly realized we she finally arrived. She apologized repeatedly and the restaurant comped us drinks, which really wasn't necessary, but was appreciated. The food was delicious, especially their "signature lamb tibs" that had so much more flavor than this sort of dish sometimes does. The only problem with our food was that there was so much of it, even thought we tried to order carefully; we could have gotten a second meal out of our dinner, but were staying in a hotel room without a microwave, so didn't take our leftovers. We'll be back for sure.

We made reservations. We walked here, it's about 10 min from Union Station. We asked to be seated in the covered area as it was a nice day. Our server was nice. They add a 20% service charge to the meal. Their cocktails are pricey but strong. We ordered the vegetarian sampler for two. We got Doro wat chicken which was absolutely tasteless. It was a shame because we had delicious chicken in so many Ethiopian restaurants. The injera bread they make has wheat in it. We asked for the authentic ones instead and they charged us extra for it. A little disappointed with food overall. I think there are better Ethiopian restaurants to visit.

This is one of the best eating/restaurant experiences I have ever had! Esp if you're vegetarian! Beza gave us excellent service and advice on what to order as I am not that knowledgeable on Ethiopian cuisine. Highly, highly recommend if you're in DC area.

I highly recommend Ethiopic! Their food is delicious—it’s flavorful, light yet filling, and healthy! We used to live near the restaurant’s current location. Had they opened before we moved, it would have been one of our favorite and regular spots in DC! I highly recommend the veggie platter with injera (they even serve gluten-free injera). I especially like their—collard greens, yellow lentils, red lentils, cabbage and potatoes, green beans and carrots! Everything is excellent, but red lentils is a favorite dish. Nice atmosphere and service!

Top Ethiopian veggie plate, fresh ingredients and varied flavors, and one of best Old Fashioneds in town. Unlikely but fabulous combo.

The server gave great advice about the size and combination of foods we might want to have for our part of 3. The vegetarian sampler with fried fish along with beef tibs is spot on for a part of 3 or 4.

Terrific Ethiopian food in a bustling restaurant in Central DC. Visited with my family on a Saturday evening and had a great time.

Spicy food with a variety of vegetarian and carnivorous fare. The dishes often have generous additions of jalapeño, garlic and other spices; not for those who don’t like spicy food. But if you do, there are many flavorful options here. I recommend the sampler platter (plenty for two to share) to enjoy a lot of different tastes at once, and plenty of injera to go with it. There’s even gluten free injera! Only issue was service was kinda slow.
