Service is very responsive and accommodating while reserving for our large group. They set up two big tables in the cafe (front of the restaurant). It was a nice atmosphere and quiet enough to have a conversation with the entire table (which is rare these...days). Service was excellent and the food was terrific. Don't miss out on the desserts - they are worth it!More

I cannot say enough good things about Ris. We booked her restaurant for a wedding rehearsal dinner and welcome party for my son's DC wedding in September. The venue, the food and the service were top notch. The set up of the restaurant was perfect...to allow people to meet and mingle. It was the perfect setting to share food and drinks to get the party started. Thank you Ris. We will be back to visit you soon. GailMore

I have followed Ris Lacoste's cooking from Harvest in Cambridge, 21 Federal and later Kinkeads in DC. My wife and I were joined by our friends from Cape Cod for a fun night out. Staff was professional and informative. We had the Shrimp cerviche and...the special gaspacho (it was 94F that day) for apetizers. For dinner I had the clam linguine and my wife had the chicken Milanese with a lovely chardonnay. Cant wait to come back.More

Salmon was delicious… moist, and perfectly balanced flavors. Mussels were tender and broth inventively delightful. Linguini was rich and luscious. The entire meal was flawless. One of the best restaurants in DC, full stop.

Staying close by and heard this place was nominated for a James Beard award. Made a reservation and now I know why it was nominated! RIS is not pretentious, not fancy tweezer food, just simple food done exceptionally well. I started with the tomato olive...oil soup. The name was a little strange, but the soup was fabulous! A great tomato flavor and hearty, not creamy. Then, just below the surface - an arancini! What a tasty surprise. I ordered the cheeseburger - just for fun and it was outstanding. Cooked perfect with a tremendous depth of flavor on a house made potato roll. Gracious me! RIS definitely deserves the nomination - I hope more restaurants like this one will be recognized.More

The food was meh, nothing to write home about. The server was rude, misogynistic in the extreme and continually interrupted our table conversation to tell his own stories, which would be rude in a member of the party and inexcusable in a server. The man...who bussed for him was kind, helpful and tried to make up for his bull-in-a-china-shop server. I think he should be the waiter instead.More

I was responsible for hosting a private family dinner for 14 guests from out of town. I worked with the chef/owner Ris prior to set up the event, which was held in one of their private dining rooms. The evening was a great success. We...had a 3 course meal with several options to choose from. The food was perfectly executed, and special requests were honored. The service was attentive and everyone had a good time and a delicious meal. It was a great evening.More

Somewhat uninspired, but always a decent meal. You're not going to have a truly memorable meal here, but you'll leave happy. Good for groups with mixed tastes. Expect to pay ~$60/pp for an entree and a cocktail.

Custom dinner menu with passed appetizers during the cocktail hour including a poured wine bar. The food was a nice mix of steak, chicken, vegetarian options. Everything was flavorful and prepared perfectly. I recommend this venue’s private room for your next business event or family...gathering.More
