A local restaurant that prides itself of instilling farm-to-table dining experience. The place is small enough that we can actually carry a conversation. The food and service were good. Our server was equally friendly. We enjoyed our dinner outing.

Ris is a nice little neighborhood restaurant. The place is well managed is that's evident by the stable staff roster--not a lot of staff turnover seen here. The menu is sufficiently varied and the quality of the food is consistently good. Another great feature is that it is never completely full, so it's usually possible to just walk in and... More

As a local, RIS is my go-to place for consistently fabulous food in a lovely atmosphere. Whether you dine at the bar (don't miss the wedge salad!) or experience a lovely evening at a table or enjoy brunch on the weekend, you will not be disappointed. RIS's signature Scallop Margarita starter is unique and delicious. The menu typically highlights the... More

I had brunch with an old friend here during restaurant week and we had a lot on which to catch up. Fortunately, RIS fit the bill, and more. The tables are nicely spaced and the ceiling appears to have noise cancelling panels, which is not that common in DC. Prices during restaurant week are terrific and afford the opportunity to... We went on a weeknight and the restaurant was not very busy. So there really isn't any good excuse for why the service was so inattentive. I had to ask three times for a piece of lemon for my water, my dessert came 20 minutes after the coffee/other desserts and when it came time to pay the bill our waitress... More

My wife and I went there last night for Restaurant Week. A lovely kale salad with cranberries, goat cheese, and sweet vinegar to set off the bitterness of the greens. And outstanding short rib dish with a touch of kimchi. The beef was done to perfection, most impressive. The dessert was a very good chocolate hazelnut torte with chai flavoring.... More

Went to the restaurant after the Women's March on Washington. My friend and I had a really good time there. The food was excellent. I thought the restaurant was very appealing. We sat in the bar area away from the regular dining area. The dinner we had was well prepared. The menu was quire varied, so there were many selections... More

A group who were in DC for a board meeting had dinner at RIS. As a vegetarian I found the options very limited. The main course offering was a large piece of cauliflower served on spaghetti squash. The squash was very tasty and the dinner was nicely plated but it was overwhelmed by the volume of cauliflower. The kale salad... More

Our hotel concierge recommended Ris for an early New Year's Eve dinner. Upon arriving we were seated next to a table with a toddler playing with the balloons hanging from the ceiling. Upon request, the manager graciously moved us to another table. Once seated, it was a long wait for someone to come by for our cocktail order. Our server... More

We went to RIS before an event at the Kennedy Center and our experience was mixed. The food was wonderful but the service was horrible. We were promptly seated and then waited over 10 minutes before my wife went up to the maître d' and tried to ask him for help with our service. Unfortunately, he was on the phone... More
