My mother and I stopped here for a quick lunch before her doctor's appointment in the area. We let the hostess know we had about 30 minutes to dine before needing to leave, which did not seem a problem since there were only two other...tables with patrons in the restaurant at 12:30pm. I felt we were "cloaked" as it took about 15 minutes to be recognized and greeted by a waiter. Thank goodness we were more than ready to order and the food was actually fairly swift out. I have no complaints about the soup of the day and caesar salads we ordered, but the price was high and the service very slow for a restaurant with almost no business. I will say that because it was sparsely crowded, a group of businessmen (international) had a great lunch and informal meeting going in a room unintentionally designed for meetings outside the bathrooms - privacy is probably a plus here. My opinion is that DC has too many good restaurants to mess with this one, but fine in a pinch. I will also say the gals next to us got the grilled cheese and tomato soup and it looked phenominal...maybe worth another try?More

We went to to Ris. It's restaurant said that we'd get $10 parking at the Ritz Carlton next door. Fine. At the end of the meal -- which we enjoyed -- they said that they thought the parking deal was no longer valid. I said,..."It's on your website." They gave me a card and said they thought it was expired. Sure enough, it didn't work and we paid $23 for the parking. The restaurant lied to us. We'll never go there again. Lies don't work for us. Delicious food with an upscale yet very inviting environment. After walking all over DC, we enjoyed our lunch here in every way. We were staying right around the corner from Ris and the restaurant was recommended by one of the hotel staff. A great recommendation...for sure as we re-charged our legs and relaxed over very fine food. I had the hamburger which was very good. Others with me had the quiche and the spaghetti with meatballs which they enjoyed as well. Be sure to seek this restaurant out if you are in the Foggy Bottom section of DC.More

The chef here knows her business and my friend has come here repeatedly for years. She had steamed mussels and a salad; I had French onion soup and curried cauliflower, and we both appreciated the quality of the food and not having to order a...big, fancy meal. The service was very good; the decor fine, though nothing amazing; and the prices were reasonable relative to other nice restaurants in the city. Ris also has an extensive wine list although we didn’t have anyway. Bottom line: this is a reliable place with an interesting and well-prepared menu, with a friendly environment where you can have a good conversation with a friend. A restaurant knowing about.More

We chose the Chicken Milanese and Tenderloin Chimi, both were excellent with real thought to even the accompanying vegetables. Would definitely recommend RIS for any occasion.

It's a nice restaurant, but Saturday is not a great day to go, obviously. Food was disappointing, drinks were OK but long in coming, chicken milanese was mediocre. It was a birthday celebration with folks from out of town; sorry we didn't go somewhere else.

Good food. A friendly atmosphere. I had excellent house made ravioli with a wonderful sauce. The only downside was the high price of the desserts and coffee.

I recently posted a critical review of brunch at Ris. The manager reached out to me and invited us to give them a second chance at dinner. We accepted, and they redeemed themselves admirably. We had glasses of a very nice pinot grigio. We started...by sharing the fried green tomatoes--which they were kind enough to split in the kitchen for us. My wife had the chicken Milanese and I had the shrimp and scallop risotto. All of the food was very good, and the service was excellent. The chicken Milanese came with a wonderful spinach salad that had prosciutto in it--a very nice complement. Also, the French bread was excellent.More

We stopped here on the way from the Phillips Gallery to the GW metro. Granted, we had a Kennedy center coupon that offered a discount. Regardless, this is a wonderful restaurant. It was not crowded on the day we visited and the ambiance is pleasant....Our entree choices were mussels and trout. Both were excellent. The dessert (cookies in our case) was great. The side salad was heavy on the lettuce and was not very interesting or tasty.. The service was good and the waiter was friendly.More
