On first impression, and second, and further inspection...this place could have been airlifted from the depths of some deep Mexican city and dropped here. The motif, the structural details...everything seemed totally out of place for D.C. and totally suited for old Mexico. Even the wiring appeared to meet 'old Mexico' code rather than D.C. specs. And the bathroom 'fit the mold.' It looked and felt ORIGINAL.
The food was also very 'Mexican' to us, not 'Americanized' like most 'mexican restaurants.'
Having said that, it was good - not outstanding. The service was good - we were there during a really quiet time, with only us and maybe one other customer in the whole place.

We had steak - best most delicious prepared perfectly. Super juice. The shrimp fajitas was beyond delicious. We had nachos for the appetizer which were incredible and a pitcher of hurricane margaritas that was not only delicious but just the right amount of alcohol. Anyone visiting or living in D.C. has to stop by and enjoy some this awesome mexican cuisine.

Fun atmosphere, excellent, friendly service, good food and a Margarita for every taste. We enjoyed our evening at Loredo. Staff made us feel welcome and were very knowledgeable- the seafood burrito impressed my wife and my pork dish was tender and full of flavor. Excellent margaritas for every taste and price level, I went with The Godfather which adds grand marnier and amaretto. Large dessert menu, too full to try, good price and value

Very good food but I'm very disappointed in not being informed that tip.is already included in bill. It is deceiving because there is still a line for tip to be filled in.

I WAS THERE WITH MY FRIEND FOR DINNER AS HE RECOMMENDED THIS PLACE WALKING DISTANCE FROM HIS APARTMENT. I ORDER CARNE ASADA "LAREDO STYLE" NY STEAK. I SPECIFICALLY ASKED THE WAITER I WANT MY STEAK COOK 'MEDIUM RARE". IT CAME OUT "WELL DONE" AFTER CUTTING INTO THE STEAK. THEREFORE, I RETURNED MY DINNER ORDER AND ONCE AGAIN REQUESTED "MEDIUM RARE" FOR MY 2ND ORDER OF THE SAME ENTREE. SECOND TIME THE NY STEAK WAS OVERCOOK AND STEAK WAS ALL VEINS NO MEAT. I CUT THE STEAK IN HALF TO SEE IF I CAN EAT AROUND THE VEIN PARTS BUT NO. I LEFT MY ENTREE THERE NOT EAT ANYTHING EXCEPT THE SIDE SALAD AS I WAS STARVING. I TOLD THE WAITER THIS WAS A TERRIBLE PIECE OF NY STEAK STRIP AND HE DIDN'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE ME. HE BILLED ME FOR MY DINNER ORDER OF $30.99 PLUS MY 2 GIN COCKTAILS EQUALS GRAND TOTAL OF $42.69.
MY POINT HERE FOR THIS REVIEW TO OTHER PATRONS. IF A CUSTOMER DOESN'T LIKE THEIR FOOD ITEM (NOT EVEN TOUCH IT) THE WAIT STAFF OR MGMT SHOULD OFFER SOMETHING ELSE IN REPLACEMENT OR TAKE IT OFF THE CUSTOMER BILL BUT APPRARENTLY THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. STAY AWAY FROM THIS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE RESTAURANT. FOOD IS JUST OK - NOT FABULOUS TO WRITE HOME ABOUT AS I HAD BETTER TEX-MEXICAN RESTAURANT THAN THIS ONE.

We had a pitcher of Margaritas, and 3 delicious dinners. The atmosphere was quite pleasant and easy to have a conversation. The meals were tasty. The chips and salsa were crisp and fresh. The service was a bit slow but we wanted to have a long conversation so it was not an issue. Glad we went.

Had brunch there today and further confirmed why we'd never tried it before even though it's been in the neighborhood forever. Located on the corner of Connecticut and Ordway it does have one superb feature: the very pleasant raised outdoor terrace with views of the busy intersection, the best outdoor space on the block. Maybe ok for a so so drink given the nice terrace (and the fresh, thin chips and salsa) but not for food. I had the chicken tacos which were totally flavorless with lukewarm rice and beans, my partner had the set brunch with bottomless bloody Mary's and sausage scrambled eggs, a bit more taste than the tacos but nothing you'd order a second time. There was supposed to be fruit salad with the set but they didn't bring it. Would have given the dessert a try, except I'd never seen a more unattractive dessert menu with the worst quality unappetizing photos (and no prices). Service was haphazard even with few customers around - they almost took the wrong order and then brought the wrong bill totaling twice the amount - although rectified quickly, the whole experience is not one that'd encourage a return visit.
Giving a three star rating in consideration of the terrace seating.

I used to come to this restaurant all the time when I lived in the neighborhood. Now I have to visit whenever I'm in town. The restaurant changed names (used to be "Alero's") but the food and service are basically the same. The frozen margaritas are delicious! And the patio and tiny balcony are great for people-watching.

Prices are up - food quality is not. Best bets: Taquitos Vera Cruz, Tacos, Fajitas, both Ceviche dishes. Mix with a pitcher of Margaritas..... Good outside seating in warmer weather.

The table-side gauc here was AMAZING!!!!! The server we had was so friendly, helpful & efficient. If you're in the area, you HAVE to go in and at least have the gauc table-side!!

Best part of the meal was the free chips and salsa. The food was so disappointing and didn’t seem fresh, especially for being in a higher price range. I had chilaquiles at another restaurant and the comparison is appalling .

My wife and I love visiting the National Zoo. Whenever we make the trip, we stop to eat at Laredo Mexican restaurant. We know that no matter how much we eat, we will be able to walk it off the rest of the day as we enjoy God's creatures. It had been a couple of years since dining here, so I was pleasantly surprised to see them offering the latest craze, the weekend all you can eat and drink brunch. Their brunch included sangria and Spanish style tapas. We decided not to opt for the brunch, but instead feasted on a seafood paella and Camarones al Mojo de Ajo. Let me say that the paella portion was enough for two people, which made me happy so I could enjoy plenty of my wife's selection. As for my dish, I was shocked at how big the Camarones (shrimp/langostinos) were. Trust me, my dish completely filled me up, but I had to eat some paella too. We topped this delicious outing off with a bottle of Chardonnay. Okay, so the walk to the zoo from the restaurant was slower than expected, but our bellies were very satiated.
