Commissary is Logan Circle's casual neighborhood café. We serve breakfast & brunch, lunch & dinner, snacks & smoothies as well as house-made desserts, along with an expansive daily happy hour. We have a large bar, cozy lounge area, outside café and free Wi-Fi. Our diverse menu is simple and affordable, with breakfast all day, sandwiches, salads and pizza for lunch or dinner, plus a great selection of dinner entrees and daily seasonal specials. Commissary is a perfect any day, any time place.

We were staying at a hotel nearby that was not open for breakfast . We came to Commissary three mornings in a row for breakfast .
The restaurant followed all COVID precautions carefully . Service was friendly , prompt and professional.
The coffee was excellent. We tried several different breakfast items on our three visits , all were excellent ! We enjoyed the breakfast frittata ( pictured ) , the eggs Benedict, bacon & eggs , everything bagels , fresh fruit cups and an openface breakfast sandwich .
I highly recommend this restaurant !

My partner enjoyed her Salmon meal so much we returned a second time during our vacation.
On the second visit my fish & chips were poor, the batter was far too thick and the fries weren’t hot.
The service is good here, especially on our first visit and the wine is fairly priced in comparison to other restaurants in the area.

With so many new offerings in this neighborhood, Commissary remains such a reliable place for a great, quality meal that we never regret. On a recent Sunday afternoon with perfect weather to eat outside, my husband and I found a shaded table and spent the next two hours wading through the menu. We enjoyed house special drinks, two meal’s worth of salads and appetizers, and dessert. All of it reflected high-quality ingredients, expert prep, and timely delivery to the table. The staff was busy but flawless in a waning pandemic where staff shortages and customer behavior can be really challenging for everyone involved. We enjoyed our meal there so much. Extra special recognition for Annie – our server – who was so attentive and helpful, from menu recommendations that responded directly to our requests, to a polite reminder to ensure that we checked in with our online reservation provider. Thanks, again!

I don’t know if this restaurant just wasn’t at the top of their game, but we didn’t care for it. I was excited to try this place after reading reviews, but it just fell short for us. I know restaurants are short staffed right now, but it was a tough breakfast. Our reservation was at 9:30. We got seated at 9:35. Our waitress finally came to our table to greet us and take our drink order at 9:50. We finally got our coffees and a smoothie at 10:10 (so we didn’t get coffees and drinks until 35 minutes after we sat down). Our breakfast came at 10:20. My daughter got the kids’ Summer Day Smoothie ($4) and a cheese omelette ($11 plus $1.25 to add the cheese). My husband got the Denver omelet ($13), which was unfortunately overcooked. I got the Breakfast Tacos ($10). I assumed they would come with scrambled eggs, but each taco came with an over-medium egg. The tacos were good. Their breakfast potatoes were good too. I thought it was crazy though that a cheese omelette for my daughter was more expensive than breakfast tacos that had Turkey sausage, feta, pico de Gallo, and cilantro. Our waitress never came to check for coffee refills. Again, I know I should give extra grace for restaurants trying to overcome being short staffed, but the Commissary just missed too many marks.

There’s a reason everybody comes to Commissary. I don’t know what each individuals reason is, but mine is the ambience. Other people may love the incredible food, the delightful service (I in particular had an excellent bartender named Devon - ask her for the espresso martini! You won’t regret it), or the perfect location. Whatever the reason, there’s something for everyone.
I’ve been coming here for years, but my last few visits have been more exceptional than ever!

We stumbled upon this cozy yet vibrant restaurant after a negative dining experience where we walked away from our table before they even served us. Once we entered Commissary, we were immediately relieved. The menu is simple and tasty. The ingredients are fresh. Service was speedy. They even COMPOST! If you’re thinking about dropping in, request Caroline as your server. She’s a tall glass of water, who’s attentive, bubbly (without being attention-seeking), and patient. Not ONE error was made. The manager (I believe it’s Dave) was personable and very accommodating, considering my 6 year old nephew was dining with us. Try the green beans—they’re al dente and bursting with flavor. If I was on death row, their lettuce wraps would be my last meal. No ragrets here. Thanks Commissary!

Commissary was very mediocre. There are much better places to eat in the city. The best part was the cocktails but the food was not good. Two of our party ordered fish tacos and as soon as they were set down you could smell that they were off. We both tried them and agreed they had a fishy/off taste (I eat a TON of fish and it wasn’t the good kind of fishy). We sent it back (which I never ever do) and there wasn’t even an apology. Another person got pizza which was fine and the short ribs- also fine. Nothing to write home about and not worth a trip. Definitely better places in the area.

This restaurant provides a local vibe where the grown and mature crowd could come and have brunch. I strongly recommend making reservations due to the big crowds and to avoid a long wait. Johnathan, our server, was a great server and provided great customer service. We received our food and were so excited about it because it looked good at first sight. Once we started eating, we discovered that there was nothing special about our food. It was subpar at best and wasn't seasoned that well. Their biggest attraction for us were the bottomless mimosas. We would visit again but try something else on the menu.

Dined here with friends on Sunday in DC. Our choices: frittata served in a hot pan, pancake platter (generous), asparagus and goat cheese omelet, and mushroom, spinach and cheddar omelet. We were all happy with our choices from this rich menu. The service was efficient and server pleasant. It's a large industrial warehouse setting with tables well space. Would return here.

An interesting menu with delicious food, but what really made for a pleasant experience was the service from Devon. Her friendly, bright demeanor made us feel comfortable. She clearly and efficiently informed us of the specials, and was attentive throughout our meal without being over-attentive. All in all a great experience. We will be back!

We enjoyed a great family dinner here. Food was delicious, our server (Marcus) was very helpful with menu suggestions, and responsive to special needs (kids with us). Social distancing maintained and outdoor seating available.

We had to start off lunch by sharing an order of potato pancakes that were crispy on the outside and just delicious on the inside especially with sour cream and apple sauce on top. I then had the fish tacos and opted for sweet potato fries with them and could not eat all the food as the tacos were full of fish, cabbage and avocado. At our table one person had the salad with brussel sprouts in it and just raved on the flavors.
The restaurant has a fun trendy vibe and great bar area for evenings.

Really nice atmosphere, great food and service. The sesame chicken was spicy with lots of subtle flavors and the fish tacos was outstanding- some of the best I have had, and several cuts above what you get from the "you know who" chains. The Commissary prides itself on providing great food at reasonable prices and totally nails it. Thank you !

Had the quinoa/black bean veggie burger which was chalk dry and inedible. Overall average presentation. Can’t even remember what it came with. Margarita was small and average even with upgraded tequila. Husband’s salad with salmon was small and salmon visually unappealing but be said taste was excellent. Wait staff was low energy (not only our waiter but looked like others too). Was expecting better considering the strong reviews. Would not go here again.

First of all, Marcus our waiter was awesome! He was so fun and paid good attention to us. The food was good however they sent one of our dishes out 10-15 minutes before anyone else’s came out. Good restaurant maybe just a bad night.
