This is a cool place to try great comfort food and an excellent craft cocktail! The menu is large and has many options. I ordered the crab cakes with collard greens and root vegetables and everything was delicious! They even had one of my favorite drinks, the Last Word! The service was very friendly and the food arrived quickly! I... More

I was always amused by Founding Farmers' name, but my first experience trying to snag a table presented a raucous check-in and bar scene that reminded me more of Chili's than fine dining. But when we reserved a table and actually ate in the restaurant on a Friday night with old friends--after enduring the raucous front-of-house scene--the experience was really... More

Went for brunch and all four dishes that came to our table were delicious! Crab Benedict, French Toast, Strawberry and Cream Waffle and Eggs and Bacon. Love the coffee too-so good!! Also had a super efficient and friendly waiter!

I have mixed feelings. I would love to give Founding Farmers an excellent rating, but I think it needs to work harder to achieve it. First word of advice: if you want to go on a weekend, make reservations far in advance. Second word of advice: ask a few questions about whatever item you want to order. We were able... More

I know there is a buzz about this place, and a lot of my friends really like it, BUT... been there several times and every time something went wrong. their brunches are the better part of the day, but for dinner i feel it was a waste of time.

Call me an outlier if you will but I cannot understand the hype over this restaurant. While I'm a full supporter of "farm to fork" conceptually, there should be other elements which make a restaurant great. Firstly, lets talk about food waste. Truly sustainable approaches would not involved serving sizes fit for a small family of 5. Seriously, no one... More

Great location, great service, and great food. Focus is on natural and sustainable food. The menu us broad but our group always orders from the signature dishes. You can't good wrong. All delicious. Nice beer and wine list

Founding Farmers, the Greenest Restaurant in DC, is owned by the more than 40,000 family farmers of the NDFU, serving American inspired real food and drink with an emphasis and focus on cooking from scratch. While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn't mean we know every farm, and that doesn't mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we're working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values. We're serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.
