Had to wait about 15 minutes despite a reservation. The tables are packed in so you better like the people at the next table since they are in your lap. The service was excellent and food very good. Can't go wrong with chicken and waffles and the farmers salad was fresh and good. The ice cream was outstanding. Worth it... More

Delicious! A good variety of choices. My son and husband had the chicken and waffles. Sweet waffles and spicy chicken. I had the goat cheese and very hash. Was excellent. Make a reservation! We got there at 10am on Saturday and waited 45min for a table. By the time we were seated the wait time was over an hour. Worth... More

We waited almost 2 hours, we had no reservation. Plenty to do in the area while you wait, and the wait is worth it. The host staff and waiters were all very pleasant. The chicken and waffles, pot roast and steak were all delicious. Try the devil eggs...yummy.

All in all not bad. We liked the food and enjoyed the drinks. Nothing superb, but definitely not bad at all.

We ate at Founding Farmers this week when we were in DC. It was a last minute replacement reservation for a restaurant that had cnacelled our reservation the day before because that restaurant was going to be closed. We had eaten here on earlier trips to DC and the food was good. This time, not so much. We arrived a... More

I went to Founding Farmers for Saturday brunch with my wife and two young children. I've dined here before and I must say the place is reliably solid. As a parent of two young children, it is sometimes a challenge to find a place that is kid friendly. Founding Farmers has an elegant decor that makes you feel like you... More

My first in DC in over 15 years, the reception at the Marriott recommended this place, and what a recommendation!! it far exceeded our expectations, amazing atmosphere, great service, and the best food breakfast I have had in some time, the smoked steak and egg breakfast is something else, and if you leave without trying the French toast you missed... Went for an early dinner, but fortunately we had booked as the restaurant was very busy. Plenty of selection, possibly too much, as we had difficulty deciding what to have. Started with cornbread, then the selections at the table were fish and chips (not french fries), cuban sandwich, and grilled trout. The food was excellent, but a quick gripe, why... More

My boyfriend and I visited my brother and his wife in DC in September. They felt it was necessary to introduce us to some Southern cooking. Chicken, waffles, and mac & cheese! Sounds like a strange combination but trust me you don't want to miss this meal and you don't want to miss this restaurant. The concept behind the fresh,... More

Need reservations! We got super lucky and showed up right at open time and they squeezed us in. Food was great! Service was fast and friendly! The chicken and waffles was AMAZING. menu isn't huge but there is something for everyone. A bit on the pricey side but it was delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant but do yourself... More

Description
Founding Farmers, the Greenest Restaurant in DC, is owned by the more than 40,000 family farmers of the NDFU, serving American inspired real food and drink with an emphasis and focus on cooking from scratch. While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn't mean we know every farm, and that doesn't mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we're working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values. We're serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.
