Was at a business conference in DC, when we asked a local cabby about a good place to eat. He suggested we try Founding Farmers, so we decided to give it a try the next evening. It was a fair walk from our hotel, we hadn't made a reservation, and it was getting late, 9:00 pm or so. When we... More

Given how packed the restaurant was, and how long the wait was despite a reservation, you'd think you were dining somewhere special. The food was good, but it's nothing you can't order at any of these mid to high end brunch joints. The service was slow, the noise level was high, and the bill didn't reflect the quality of the... Disappointing is a polite way to describe my experience. This place needs a complete make-over. If I owned the restaurant, I would fire the staff and re open putting a seasoned restaurant manager/leader in charge. He or she would train the staff complete with assigned tables and simple menus. The tables would seat 2 to 4 people and would only... More

Just finished our tour of the White House and needed a spot for lunch! We made it in on a Saturday in time for Brunch (over at 2pm)! Two couples: banana fosters waffle (amazing), chicken pot pie (with homemade biscuits as the top and bottom, delicious) and two order chicken and waffles! We shared fresh cut French fries and finished... More

You can't go wrong eating here unless you neglect to make a reservation. Their breakfast menu and quality of food is amazing. The french toast in particular is to die for. Just pair it with something savory. I did have the chicken and waffles for dinner, and while the chicken was good, it wasn't the best that I've had. Eat... More

The food is delicious, the service is personalized, and their commitment to excellence is noticeable. Samantha, the manager is sweet, and wonderful! She accommodated us for a party of 7 for a very special occasion, and not only did she allow me to go to the table ahead of time to decorate, but she accompanied me and helped!! I will... More

We have been here 3 times for brunch this year. Once we had a great meal. The other 2 times it was worse than going to IHOP. The food had no flavor. The wait staff could not care about the customers. And the wait was 30 min even with a reservation. Went back twice only because we had a good... More

Really enjoyed everything about Founding Farmers. The food was fresh and fabulous. The drinks were superb. I love the fact that they support local farmers. I can't wait to go back.

Had breakfast just after landing in DC and selected FF based on Trip Advisor reviews. Visited on a Friday morning about 10 AM and wait time was about 20 minutes. Place was very busy, but saw the food coming out to the tables and it looked really, really good. Server was friendly and my wife had eggs and potatoes, I... More

I was there for dinner with my family. The food was very good (try the chicken pot pie). Service was friendly and the value quite good. I didn't expect to see so many sub $20 entrees. It fills up very quickly after 6 - I'd advise a table upstairs. Ground floor gets pretty noisy, but still manageable.

Founding Farmers, the Greenest Restaurant in DC, is owned by the more than 40,000 family farmers of the NDFU, serving American inspired real food and drink with an emphasis and focus on cooking from scratch. While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn't mean we know every farm, and that doesn't mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we're working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values. We're serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.
