We had high expectations but were rather disappointed. The prices and food were average cafeteria fare. Unless you're in the area this is not worth the extra effort.

Food is very good and cheaper as they have deals worked out due to subsidies. Healthy options. Clean.
Heard this was a great place to eat, but everything except the hot bar and salad bar is closed for the holidays. Building security employees were rude and unhelpful. Not much directional signage or indication of security protocol. Would recommend the cafe at the Museum...of the American Indian if you’re in the area.More
If you’re visiting the Jefferson memorial this is a good place and near one to eat in , it’s hard to found but it worth it really good and various selection of food with reasonable prices .
If you are visiting the Jefferson memorial near lunch time, this is the place to eat. Reasonable prices and great selection.
Friend had recommended this place to us. So good we went back. Great choices and price is right. Easy to get to and not busy at all.
Food tastes fantastic. The variety is perfect for families. Our family of 5 ate a full meal for just under $50 (no drinks)! And it was healthy!
Dear Tara, We are glad your family enjoyed their dining experience with us! Offering great tasting food at a reasonable price is what we strive for. We hope you can join us again soon.
Go to wing 3, middle of the street. Show ID, get checked, and go down the hall and to the left into the cafeteria. Everything is kept clean, the people are nice. The number of choices you have is quite good for a lunch cafeteria,...as well as the other "food court type" choices that ring part of the perimeter (hamburger, fries, Mexican, etc.) They sell by the pound, so the average may be approximately one lb (about $8 lunch) not including drink. We went twice for lunch because of convenience (location near mall) and the lack of a line at the time!More
Dear Randall, We appreciate you taking the time to share your recommendation. You've made it easy for people to know how to find us. Glad we could be your oasis near the National Mall.
I asked the guard at the Holocaust Museum if their café was good for lunch. He steered me to this place instead. He said there’s a great selection, and it’s relatively inexpensive for being right off of the national mall. I tried it, and could...not agree more. I found the food to be fresh, tasty, and they priced lunch by the pound. (I believe it was $7,95/ lb today.) You need to go up the steps to entrance three, and be prepared to share photo ID and go through the normal federal security scam. It didn’t take more than 30 seconds. The place was well air-conditioned and the ladies room was clean.More
When visiting the sites and museums along the National Mall there are plenty of food carts and there are some restaurants inside the museums, but other than that not many real eating establishments. After reading the reviews here, we decided to try lunch at the...USDA cafeteria. It is the only government cafeteria open to the public so you will have to go through security. The USDA building is HUGE and the entrance for the cafeteria is at Entrance 3 on Independence Ave, right in the middle of the block. I gather that since this is the only cafeteria open to the public there were multiple school groups there so depending upon the time of your visit keep that in mind as that could hinder your time if you are in a hurry. The food was good and reasonably priced and they also take into consideration the environment by providing biodegradable food trays and various means of recycling. There was a variety of hot items to choose from...some Asian inspired food, traditional American fare, etc. There were also some quick grab options for kids like chicken strips and burgers, a salad bar and a deli sandwich area. Just too many items to list...overall a pretty good place to grab lunch.More
A local recommended this cafeteria to us. We found Wing 3 doorway at the USDA headquarters cafeteria. Easily went thru security and into this huge room with lots of tables and food bars. There were all kinds of foods including Chinese, American, fried chicken, stuffing,...potatoes, Italian and Korean, noodle soups, etc. the plates were by the lb. Mine was around $6.80 and my husbands a little more. Very reasonable. There were also salads and fruit bars. They were out of some foods and they said they weren’t going to restock. So sad 😞 what was offered was pretty tasty.More
Went here for lunch with the family today. We were at the Holocaust museum and this is very close. Lots of options for food. Food was quite good, even the sushi! Everyone left happy.
Thank you for your patronage lucycan. We strive to offer a wide variety of quality food for a fair price. Glad you found us!
I found this popularly rated cafe on Yelp. I didn’t know it was inside the USDA building when I decided to locate it. By chance, I got close to the Wing 3 entrance where it says cafeteria entrance so I entered the nondescript door way....Lo and behold, folks were friendly and gave us guest badges to the cafe. I was surprised by the numerous options at this cafe. They had Korea BBQ, Japanese sushi, udon, Vietnamese pho, American Grill, a buffet station with Italian, Chinese and American entrees, a deli counter and I think a pizza counter. They also have a huge selection of drinks and some dessert options. I tried the sushi and pho; both were delicious. My daughter got fried chicken from the buffet station and couldn’t stop raving how good it was. The Swedish meatballs were quite good too. Now it’s important to understand food in the DC area is expensive. Most tourists have different options but to pay high museum food prices. This cafe is priced reasonably with tasty food. For example, < $6 for a pho with vegetables. < $11 for a standard sushi special. Not outrageous. If I want to be picky, the only complaint I have is that we were there in Feb so the crowd is light and some of the food options looked like they had been sitting under the heat lamps for a bit. During peak season, when the food turns over quickly, I would think this would be a nice alternative to museum food or McDonald. Anyway, I gave it a 4-stars because of the tasty food, the friendly staff, the large seating area and the low key sit however long you want atmosphere.More
if you find the door to enter then go through security and just down the hall is the cafeteria . you have a large number of choices so everyone can find one or two things they like. the hot bars in the middle are by...the pound and the ones on the sides are by the dish it is a fair deal maybe the best price around for your meal and if 230 to 3 pm 30 per cent off . our meal was about 7.25 per plate with a drinkMore
Nothing special but pretty reliable. Various selections of foods available. Most is food bar set up by the pound. Seating area very noisy.
