This place is absolutely terrible now! Idk what happened. Covid maybe? Service is ATROCIOUS! Food is still great but that’s the only thing. It’s super dirty and the service is just terrible! That’s all I can keep saying. Consistently. And no it’s not because they’re...so busy and have no staff like every other business wants to complain about. They’re not that busy! The male servers literally are only out to get women (not good looking guys either if that even mattered) because I saw multiple of them just chatting with random girls and female servers off to the side. The couple of female servers are just not great. There’s one that tries and isn’t bad until your food comes. Sorry Chico, we’ve been FAITHFUL patrons but we we NOT coming back for a long time! Coupons aren’t even worth it. They’re going to go under if they’re not careful and turn this around. I have watched, on more than 2 or 3 occasions, people get up and walk out and/or complain the whole time they’re here. It’s not just me. Go try another local Mexican place, not this one!More

We saw this en route to another restaurant, and ended up here. We are so happy with this change of plans. The exterior is so nice, and what I saw of the inside with pleasant. The food was delicious! I would highly recommend the strawberry...margherita on the rocks and the pollo la crema (add grilled onions). We all enjoyed what we had and left more full than on Thanksgiving.More

Stopped here after hiking in Hocking Hills. Food was delicious and portions were large. They actually offered vegetarian options (black beans) instead of the typical refried beans that aren't vegetarian, which was a really nice surprise. Service was great. Parking available on the street nearby....Large outdoor patio that would be nice in better weather.More

My friend and I met here for lunch the other day and I'm glad we did. I had been wanting to go there but hadn't had a chance since they opened. We had lunch and my friend recommended the Shrimp Cocktail~which is nothing like the...shrimp cocktail you normally get in restaurants. This shrimp cocktail came in a big glass and was almost of the liquid consistency you could drink but we used spoons to eat it with. There was shrimp, diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro, avacado and a little bit of jalapeno in it and it was delicious! They served it with saltines and again it was unlike anything I've ever had but really tasty :) Our waiter was very good to make sure we had everything we needed but he also let us carry on a conversation when we wanted to. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is when we were leaving we went outside to look at their patio area which was nice but we had to walk through a hallway to get there that smelled very strongly of mold and mildew. I hope they have another way to get out to their patio! I will definitely go back again.More

I'm not a fan of Mexican food as most of the ones I've been exposed to have been mediocre at best but eating here changed my mind. Probably the best quesadillas and burritos I've ever had. I had to order extra to take away on...my plane ride home.More

We had been planning on trying Maria’s for some time, and the opportunity arose this week. The decor is quite cheery and welcoming. Our server was prompt, the margaritas very good, the chips warm and fresh, the salsa tasty and not overpowering. Just good flavor....I had the Enchilada Supreme. That was to be one each a chicken, a cheese, a bean, and a beef enchilada. As I am not fond of chicken enchiladas, I asked them to substitute any other in its place. They gave me a second beef enchilada. My favorite of the three tried was the cheese. It was superb. The bean was very mediocre. Glad they did not give me two bean enchiladas! My husband had the Burritos Tipicos. He said they were very good. The serving was quite large and he could not finish all. We will definately return.More

Lunch was fast and pretty good. Red sauce tasted like it a touch of ketchup in it. Beef in burrito was very good. Taco fell apart but again beef was good. Did not ask for refills on drinks. Worth a stop at lunch. Have not...had dinner yet.More

Good service. A pleasant dining room overlooking the city's main drag. Reasonable prices but fairly average Mexican meals targeted for Midwestern tastes. A basket of warm tortilla chips is a nice touch but the salsa was, well, average. So was the chile relleno, but the...accompanying rice and refried beans were notable. I liked that the trio of soft tacos – I chose chicken – were individually wrapped to keep the heat in. But they were overstuffed with lettuce, tomato and cheese and made for a very messy affair. I grabbed every napkin in sight and ended up using a fork and knife, certainly the first time I've had to do that with a taco. Bottom line: If you need a Mexican fix in a city of limited Mexican choices, give it a try. You won't ever confuse the food with what's available in Guadalajara, Veracruz or Oaxaca, but you could do worse.More

We visited the new restaurant in the Elks building. The location has hosted a number of different restaurants and catering operations. Maria's is attempting a Mexican flair with bar, inside and patio dining. They also serve large special groups in the old ballroom. We were...seated immediately. The dining area was recently painted and very clean. Service was outstanding with drinks, chips and salsa arriving quickly. Mexican entrees were very good. The only criticism we had was that the chips were tough. The salsa was great. We will go back the next time we are in town.More
