The bakery is everything you can hope for from a Kiwi bakery, excellent quality and it seemed to be heavily used by the locals.

I stayed at the hostel right next to this place and could have eaten there every day! The smells wafting from this place are incredible! I tried, at different times a breakfast pie, cheese danish, creme filled mini donut, and a few different coffees. All were delicious, the crust on the egg, bacon and cheese pie was flaky and light,... More

We stopped off and bought bacon and egg baps for breakfast, which were gorgeous. The pastries were divine. We were very disappointed when we returned on the Sunday to buy more, only to find they were closed. Beautiful food!!!

For the very best freshly cooked and tasty pies, healthy sandwiches and yummy fruit tarts and cream doughnuts - this is Picton's Bakery. Always fresh artisan breads and bread rolls and genuine apple strudel . . . we locals know we are very lucky to have an award winning bakery in our little village.

Although a little expensive, I can highly recommend this little bakery, which sells everything from pies to sweet treats. It's also open very early, which is good for travellers.

Stopped by for a quick bite on our way south (suggestion - get a takeaway and find a nice spot to eat on queen Charlotte drive). Very friendly staff. We tried a few pies which were all very good, steak and cheese, steak and mushrooms and butter chicken.

Wow - sandwich was one of the best I'd even eaten and the cheese scones amazing. Wish I didn't live so far away!
