Dropped in for a quick coffee and became addicted to their home made date scones. They were yummy. The staff are efficient and very friendly.

We came for coffee (which was excellent) but ended up with an ice cream as well. I had rudge ice cream which was excellent.

My family and I had lunch here today, and it was great. The filo wrap was particularly good. Prices were reasonable, and the outdoor seating was perfect! Sunny, no wind, and the birds were out in force. Kept the kid entertained, but watch your plates. They'll steal food off your fork if you give them a chance.

This a nice café by the lake, sandwiches are under $10 and coffee is around $4, their sandwiches are really tasty, only negative point is there are no toilets here, you have to go and find a public one.

We looked at this place first for lunch while visiting Akaroa. The blackboard outside advertised soup and roll, and that sounded ideal. It was also advertised inside too, but on asking for four of these, we were told that "it wasn't finished cooking yet", and to the question "when will it be ready", we got a rather frosty "maybe tomorrow".... On a 4 day visit we went here twice and both times all was excellent. A very good range of food and very good coffees each time. Definitely worth a visit when you need a snack and/or tea & coffee. Prices very reasonable and service each time was top rate.

The coffee and service at the L'Escargot Rouge were both of the best quality. The staff happily supplied the table with more drinks after one of our party had a change of mind once our orders had arrived. The atmosphere was lively and the outlook overlooking the water was wonderful. The food in the cabinets looked tempting even though we... More
