I've given it 5 stars not for haute cuisine but for reliability and consistency over years and years. 6 euros for the dish(es)of the day is exceptional value. Always tasty, there are friendly waiting staff and (the acid test of any restaurant) it's not just full of tourists - the locals love it too. Someone else has said - it's... More

The restaurant serves good food, service is brusque, and the setting is a bit grim and barn-like. It attracts both locals and tourists alike. Prices are very reasonable.

Very good food at amazing prices especially if you choose the daily specials which are amazingly cheap.

Don't expect high cuisine here. This is a nice place for good traditional Portuguese food at cheap prices. It feels a bit like a canteen, but they know how to grill fresh fish. I am really amazed how can visitors rate "Simao" as excellent. Still, this is a nice option for a cheap meal.

We called in here for lunch. Lots of locals. We opted for one of the dishes of the day - I had tuna, my husband had lamb stew. Both decent portions and reasonably tasty and a bargain at 6 euros. Ok for a cheap lunch stop.

Largish traditional Portugese restaraunt. No frills, just good value and excellent food. I had bacalhau com nata (baked dish of cod in creamy sauce), my wife had salmon, we shared a salad. All excellent. Friendly service, pleasant atmosphere.

Have visited this place every year for seven years. They do a great dish of the day for 6 euro. On Tuesday's its fillet steak, veal stroganoff or plaice, with rice & chips. Never had a bad meal & the tiramisu is stunning. 3 of us eat & litre of sparkling wine, coke & two espresso came to 24 euros!!... More

Visited with family and friends on a Wednesday night. Staff were helpful in explaining the menu especially as a member of our party has to avoid gluten. Excellent local dishes accompanied by excellent local wine without breaking the bank. Certainly worth a visit and we will be sure to do so.

This is proper Algarve rustic fare, simple but great flavours and an absolute bargain. It's packed at lunchtime with locals just having their lunch - don't expect to linger over a three course gourmet meal! The Prato do dia is fab for €6, wild boar stew, roast pork, fried catch of the day etc. It's no nonsense, they're looking after... More
