Honest local food at a brilliant price.

Great no nonsense local food with great atmosphere. This seems to be where a lot of the locals eat so definitely give it a try. Fine dining it isn't but we all enjoyed it and came back which says something when there is plenty of competition.

Simple restaurant frequented by both locals and tourists. No frills. Good and quick service. Traditional portugues dishes at a reasonable price.

Obviously a locals' place. We were there the end of Dec. / 15 and had tasty local dishes. It is busy, lively and colourful. Crowded quarters facilitate chats with the neighbouring diners. Good value - good experience.

To be honest, I found myself confusing Casa Simao with its "twin" next door. It serves good, honest, value-for-money food and the wines are alse excellent value. We entered the restaurant from the street and so didn't realise the that there were tables set outside at the back near the river.

Here you go quality in a lively, friendly and professionally efficient atmosphere all for €46 including wine. Starter, bread, cheese, pâtés and olives. Mains Bacalhau grelhado with batata cosida and salads and for the wife, Robalo, batata frita and salada. Two Purim flan and the dearest red on the list. All served efficiently and with pride and pleasure. Unmissable!

I love going to local places frequented by the local towns people! Always a pleasure and this didn't disappoint. My husband had a lamb dish and I had pork bellies and they were delicious! Lots of food for the money......very interesting family business it seems... and a real pleasure....... for our last evening in Tavira!

This is a traditional Portuguese restaurant with a typical menu for such a place. And this is not meant in a patronizing or condescending way, not at all. Quite the contrary! I chose it, first time, after reading some comments about it and I was not surprised that it lived up to the comments. This kind of resto does. Good... More

I visited this place last year but I don't think the quality should change that much since then, so here goes... There were quite some events going on the Saturday I was there. A communal dance was in session in the open area at the back of the restaurant while a performance was going on in Praca da Republica across... More

We had lunch here today. Very traditional restaurant. Two dishes of the day, 1/2 litre of house red, bread, olives, two coffees and a shared desert came to €20. Service was efficient and friendly. No complaints. Close to center of town and foot bridge across the river. There is no outdoor seating but it was a hot day so it... More
