It's always the best experience in this restaurant. My favourite restaurant and I like to go there at least a few times a year. The place is cosy. Food is selected and prepared in the best way possible. The quality is amazing. It's not surprising...restaurant got Michelin BIB Gourmand reward. A must try in that area.More

It is a restaurant for the people who doesn't know realy much about food. The dishes came to table in different time. I have got my dish 5 minutes later than my wife., Since we have ordered three dishes each, I had to wait all...the time. The dish was serves cold. The waiter has traited to be funny and has districbed all kind of silly strories. Since he acts like an amater actor nobody could belive him. Interior is poor with no taste of all.More

I’ve been there for 5 times now and every time was really special experience. The owner is really friendly and has a lot of knowlege about food and wines. He also know something about cigars he sells which is fantastic to finish the proper meal...of course with a good brandy/ cognac - also avaible in Ruj. Food is nothing “fancy” but there are genuine flavors. Food have 100% local roots and taste a lot like in restaurants awarded by michelin stars. And of course the selection of wines is really big. But if you are looking for something special there are always few rare vintages in the cellar.More

We got a voucher for a degustion menu as a present and were really disaponted. We enteted the house and we were sitted to a very small table in an empty room. When we told him we had a voucher he just asked if we...were alergic and put some advices about wine. I wanted to know what we would eat but he did not want to answer. It is a surprise. And it was. I can not say that it was not tasty, but it was boring and of cheap ingrediants for type of restaurant. At the end we had a poor dinner for more than 100 euro. Much too much.More

Traditional food was great but it could be better for the price of 4 glasses of wine two starters and two main courses 80 euros. Overall it's nice place and the service was great and corect and ambient is tipical for the Karst region.

Cosy little restaurant with excellent plates and additional offer of local products like jams, essential herbal oils and great selection of wine. Unusual combinations of dishes with emphasize on local only - tastes are just incredible! Personal touch adds to an amazing experience. Highly recommended!

Excellent food in this small restaurant near Sezana. Tuna tartar as a starter and prosciutto were really good. We had the piglet and a so called "head" for a first course. Head is a sort of pie from the pig and lamb head meat wrapped...in pancetta. Very special and very tasty. Desserts were good but not excellent. They have a large selection of really good vines and a home baked bread. Very competent and nice service. Above average experience overall. My only complaint: the lights in the restaurant are much too bright and the atmosphere in the small restaurant would be much better if they would turn the ceiling lights down a bit.More

Great small restaurant on the IT/SLO border. Chef is taking care of his kitchen and his guests. We took 3 course menu, which was really delicious and we tried a lot. Each round they prepared two different dishes, I would recommend lamb or pork from...the meat selection. Wine list was quite surprising-a lot of local producers but I would certainly recommend Blazic cuvee, especially if they have year 2006. We are fully supporting such type of restaurants and will for sure come back Highly recommendable!! Thumbs up!!More

Typical local dishes, but with a modern twist. Top quality raw material nicely handled to create delicious dishes. Excellent selection of wines from the region. Menu is not printed but read to you by the friendly staff. Very good service. Simple but nice atmosphere. A...little bit overpriced for the quality.More

A humble house in the middle of nowhere going for a humble »okrepčevalnica« (eatery) in its very name. Chef & owner started successfully many years ago, then diversified his activities to two other restaurants. All the time, with or without him around, Ruj was a...great place to go to for very good local food with a twist, and nice wines at friendly prices. Having been absent for nearly ten years, I was happy to see the guy now firmly back in his restaurant. Basically nothing has changed, the place is still very simple and unpretentious. Not enough parking place in peak weekend hours… Nice porch for the summer evenings. Basic restrooms, avoid the dark table in the middle of the house, right by the restrooms. Service is friendly and fine. Wine list entirely Slovenian, well chosen and at correct prices, most can be enjoyed by glass. But then comes my surprise. Main courses were a complete failure, we tried two different meat dishes and they came with basically identical sides, preparation was far from faultless, they were left waiting in kitchen so long that food was nearly cold. Shocking and unforgivable. All other courses up to the expected level. Still, due to such failure I can not go above 12- on a 1 to 20 scale. Previous experience was always on a good 13 at least. Prices are rather kind, the owner kept his initial philosophy to avoid posh and prestigious approach - clearly such would mean serious investment. Especially for the Italian guests from Trieste this is a truly worthwile place to eat well in a simple, domestic environment. I still like the place a lot, but I now have my serious doubts – what happened to the guy and all his great creativity and energy?More
