We have visited the Gostilna Tomaj many times. In fact, every time we go to Kras. The ambiance is homely. Service as it should be. Have tried all the dishes they offer. Try to find place for dinner during our stay in Lipica. The pictures of the place on web are better, when you arrive you are a liitle bit disappointed. But you should go through of first feelings and order. The staff is kindly, prompt and...familiar. The food , what we ordered was really good. The pastas were really homemade. We decided to visit this restaurant because of the good reviews. This was in May 2020, as a part of the trip to town Štanjel. We ordered a mix of local meats (persutto, etc) and cheese as a starter - this was ok. Then we...decided to go with the barbecue meat plate for 2 persons. Big mistake, total disaster. The meat felt like it was cooked (felt like the minced meat was boiled in water or something like defrosted in the last minute) and not grilled. We were not the only ones with the bed experience. The food and the staff are awesome! I recomend this restaurant to anyone who likes good, homemade food that is not too expensive.

We enjoyed in tasty homemade and local food. We ate goat cheese, which was from local farm and prepared with herbs. The main dishes were prepared with love and tasted delicious. The service was nice. I highly recommend.

The food and service was great. The persutto was to die for. With 4 other friends we ordered one dish and tried everything and each bite was better than the last. Everyting is home made and on the spot, so it might take a while,...but well worth the wait.More

A beautiful and sunny winter saturday beckoned for a trip outside that ended in filling our stomachs with something special. Deservedly so.. At Gostilna Tomaj we were well rewarded. Chicken on broad spinatch noodles was soft, creamylike and went beautifuly with the pasta. Also the...roasted leg of lamb was cooked perfectly and served with fried vegetables. Fingerlicking.. washed down with carefuly chosen white wine. Excellent coffee and cake to top it all off. Nice, warm, homey environment. 10 out of 10 in my book. Very good lunch, all local products. Gnocchi and pasta was amazing (specially gnocchi with teran and pršut). The meat was also very good, and the deserts were perfect. Also very reasonably priced. I highly recommend.

Had a good bit of the menu and found the food to be great! The pasta was handmade and fresh and the meat was localy sourced and well prepared. Would recommend.

Everything is really excellent - food, atmosphere and especially service. They do their best to make the customers want to come back. You shouldn't leave the place without trying their Teran Sorbet!
