Booked a table for dinner based on Tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. Really recommend sitting inside as the interior adds a lot to the experience! We shared caviar and pancakes for starters followed by Crimean mussels and beef stroganoff. The caviar was out...of this world (expensive as expected but worth it), mussels were covered in a delicious perfectly balanced garlicky sauce and the stroganoff was probably the best we’ve ever tasted. Great service with a complimentary shot of vodka which we followed with another shot as it was delicious! Most expensive meal of our 2 week holiday in the Baltics but well worth it.More

This is very nice Russian restaurant in the very heart of Riga, close to all main places to see, also Dome cathedral. Food and service are excellent, great atmosphere, a little but too much music

One of the best restaurant experiences in Riga for us! We have been returning to Uncle Vanya several times and will do it agaid for sure. The Slavic theme is in every detail, love it! Food is delicious, but our favourite par of the meal...is the horseradish vodka, to be honest. :) The service is top-notch as well. Last time we visited was in the middle of July 2020. We were two couples celebrating a birthday for one of us. During the dinner one of our guys asked our waiter to serve a birthday cake to our birthday-lady. What a show it was! Handwritten greeting with strawberry souce, candles and a birthday song all over the restaurant. Perfectly delivered! To give a reference - a Michelin star restaurant we were at for another birthday recently didn't even bother to give a verbal 'congratulations'. Thank you, Uncle Vanya team, see you again! :)More

What a lovely cozy restaurant! Great traditional Russian food and atmosphere - there was a small band playing and singing Russian songs in the restaurant. The waiter was really nice and gave us good recommendations. The food is rich and tasteful and the whole experience...was excellent. Totally recommended!!More

Perfect antourage of an respectable house in ussr filled with allkind nostalgic elements so the music and the service was as it were made for elite of soviet union. Wery decent, menu was diverse and also had a seasonal extra menu. We took a plate...of entries (zakuska) and a beefstroganof made with white mushrooms sided with traditional potato panncakes , also decided to taste a seasonal dish of rabbit leg in baked pumpkin.. Our visit was mesmerising.More

Absolutely fantastic. Had the Pike Croquettes as a main and the Pryanik dessert, and of course horseradish Vodka! The service was great, everybody was welcoming and polite, which is always a benefit as a solo traveller on your first solo break. Would absolutely recommend and...would love to come back one day when I find myself next in Riga!More

A Russian friend told us this is the best Russian restaurant in the old town. He was undoubtedly correct. We both had fish and they were quite good. One of us had sturgeon and the other cod. They gave us complementary shots of horse radish...vodka. It wasn’t as good as the Red Russian we ordered. They have an English menu that we found helpful. Service and ambiance was high quality. Dinner at Uncle Vanya restaurant in Rigs Old Town. Interior is like in old countryside house in Russia 1870. We ate traditional bortch soup and pelmeni meat dumplings. Both good and tasty. We like to drink Georgian red wine like Saperavi but unfortunately they had...only Chilean and French wined. Same with brandy. No exellent Ararat or others from Caucasian area.More

We stumbled upon this restaurant wandering around the back streets of Riga. And omg the food was amazing. The horseradish vodka is worth a try. I also tried a very delicious cocktail - it disappeared all by itself? And the maître d’hôtel is a great...guy speaks fantastic English and is extremely helpful.More
