Hands down our favorite restaurant in Riga. The food is delicious and the staff is extremely nice and attentive. I recommend booking a reservation so that you don’t miss out on this place. I got the pork ribs and my boyfriend got the seared duck. For appetizers we got the scallops and the eggplant-goat cheese. The pork ribs were my favorite I had in Riga. (I also had pork ribs the next day at Riits but they were overcooked and not as good as this restaurant). Keep in mind though that the ribs had quit a bit of fat on them, which I loved but I know that’s not for everyone. There was still a lot of meat on them but definitely some fat. The staff was extremely kind, professional, attentive and timely. Whoever the guy was working on February 13th at night, they should give him a raise. The entire restaurant was full of reservations and their was only 1 main waiter (who had a girl who sometimes helped him) and he managed to bring out everyone’s food in a fast timely manor and was very nice and attentive to everyone. He even taught us some words in Latvian which we enjoyed and still was attentive to the entire restaurant. Later that weekend we experienced extreme levels of racism at another restaurant in Riga (Dome Fish Restaurant) which had us in tears towards the end of our time at Riga but at the same time made me appreciate Petergalis which was so nice and kind to us

We reserved a table day before which was a great decision. We didn't fit in on the first night we tried so make a reservation. We truly enjoyed our dinner in this restaurant. We had a table outside on the beautiful terrace. While we waited our mains to arrive they offered a fresh bread with different herb butters. I had lamb shank which was very tasty. We also shared a pavlova as a dessert which was the best ending to a perfect dinner. We will definitely go again next time we visit Riga!

We didn’t enjoy the breakfast served at our hotel, so instead we found this little gem of a restaurant a short walk from our hotel. A much better alternative to the drab and crowded hotel breakfast! At Petergailis they serve delicious breakfast, and the staff is helpful and attentive. My 13yr old daughter loved the Latvian pancakes, I enjoyed a good omelette and we both liked the rooster/hen-themed decorations throughout the restaurant.

Food is of average price for the centre of the old town, however it was very tasty and the portion sizes were good. Appetizers were very tasty and the bread plate was also amazing, service was excellent, atmosphere very pleasant with an outside terrace also being an option. Would reccomend

The starter selection of meats and cheeses for two persons was delicious and attractive looking (see the picture). Main course beef steak with scallop was amazing. The best I have never eaten. Seatrout was little bit tasteless. I recommend the tablereservation because the interior is so tiny. We had lovely waitress Palina (I hope the name is correctly written). She is kind and pleasant.

We visited this restaurant before a night at Riga Opera House. The service was perfect & extremely welcoming. We were given beautiful little taster plates, completely free, before the meal we had ordered. All the food we had was delicious & beautifully presented.

Visited the place on 19.07.2020 about 22:00. Prices did not fit the reality but we decided to have a launch due to a nice location on the street. Unexpedectly, a waiter told that there is no place but we definitely noticed some of free tables. No problem: just went 20 meters and we found a nice place with friendly staff and tasty food. As a result, we left 90 euro plus tips without any regrets. Definitely, there is a problem with service which causing direct negative impacts on the business. Maybe management prefers to save money by hiring cheap persons from the street instead of gaining more money by providing a better service

We have done a through research before coming there, and man we were rewarded! A very good location, between two cathedrals in Vecrīga, one of the best. Booking was easy, by phone. We booked on a Saturday for next Sunday, and it took a person on the other end of the line a minute or two to see if the seats were available. Luckily for us there were. By the time we left (2000 hrs) the place was full. The crowd consisted of locals and tourists alike. Tastefully decorated, including crockery, the owners left little to chance. That included food and wine and even a toilet. I would not mind to have a coffee there, honestly! Cosy, homey, clean and smells perfume. We have ordered trout tartare, caramelised local goat cheese for starters, then duck breast and slowly cooked lamb shank. I can highly recommend them all. As with the interior, no detail was left unattended. Every single ingredient was taken care of, and together they made gorgeous ensemble. Food was delicious. I may have expanded on details, but the space here is too small for that. We polished it all with a cheesecake with strawberry sauce, excellent. Mind this is not your usual cheesecake, rather pastry with cottage cheese, but I would much prefer this version. Wine: we have ordered 2021 Esk Valley Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough, New Zealand, by glass, it was outstanding! Portions were of reasonable size, we have not felt hungry. Last but not least. Staff was most discreet, friendly and efficient. A three course dinner for two came to c.EUR100. We have not tried to be economical. As I mentioned above, we have done a research, and their prices are noticeably lower than those at other restaurants in their league. The only thing I am concerned with it their stairs at the entrance: in winter (now, that is) you can easily skid on them and break whatever breaks. That is not to discourage anybody from coming, do come, just mind your step)), you will not be disappointed.

The restaurant was popular and filled with guests. We were lucky to have a window seat in the first visit. We went there 3 times in total during our week stay. Friendly atmosphere and good food were the attractions and reasons we visited often. The decorations with hundreds of different hens and chicken ornaments successfully help stand out among other competitors there, establishing a sharp image for customers. I liked the breads, ordered slow cooked beef, risottos and pasta. The dishes were big and yummy. Customers looked enjoying the foods there, even single customers were not rare and seen twice.

I can understand why this restaurant receives such great reviews! It was fully booked when we popped in on Monday so I’m so glad we booked a table for Wednesday night. Our meal was absolutely delicious! The best I’ve had for many a year. Each course was fabulous and I loved the complimentary beetroot amuse Bouche and breads with three different butters. The lamb shank and duck confit just melted in the mouth - yum! Our meal, including a shared starter, two main meals, two desserts, two wines and a further bottle of red, came to 110 euros which was excellent value for the quality of produce, cooking and service. Highly recommended!

I'd read about this restaurant in advance of my trip so I booked a table for the Friday night. The wait staff were really helpful and the food was great. There were 4 in our group and we picked 4 starters to share which were all fab - venison salad, salmon, prawns and the goats cheese salad. One of the group got the ribs and said they were the best she'd ever eaten. I shared the pork and the beef cheek with another friend - the beef cheek was absolutely insane and the pork was very average and a bit dry, we should have definitely gone for a beef cheek each! Our other diner ordered the lamb neck and said it was very rich and a bit too lamby. Quite a few people were trying to walk-in for dinner and the staff said they were fully booked all weekend so I'd definitely recommend booking here in advance of your visit, it's worth a trip. Very reasonable priced alcohol as well.

For us this visit was unpleasant surprise. We read reviews in trip advisors and booked a table for next day. Lucky to get a table as the restaurant was fully booked. All other tables were brought some small treats, greetings from the chef while waiting for the order, but never got those. Also, other tables were brought some breads and butter while waiting for the order, but also that we did not get during waiting but bread was brought just after they brought our appetisers on table. So we already got the feeling that we are not as good as other guests. We had ordered bottle of Cava. At some point the waiter wanted to empty our bottle and poured our glasses so full that it was almost impossible to drink from it. very rude sign, like wanting to get rid of us and drink our wine faster. I have never in any restaurant seen this done. Unfortunately also food was rather negative surprise. Appertisers were ok, but nothing special. The main courses were disappointment. I ordered steak, which was almost 30 euros. I have never had so stiff steak before. No harmony in flavours in the food. Truly sad, as we were expecting a very high level experience from this restaurant. Other orders in our table were duck, which was a bit better than steak, and port which was also negative surprise. We did not go for desserts after negative experience.

We walked in from the street but we should have booked ahead. Despite the fact it was February and only 6pm we were the last to get a table. Every other table was reserved and many others came in after us and had to be turned away. That should have been a clue to what lay in store! We were warmly welcomed and given time to make our choices. Whilst waiting we were treated to the Latvian Rhubarb wine - a revelation. Highly recommended. Not too sweet but full of flavour and certainly a rhubarb tang. The beer was also cold and tasty. We ordered garlic bread and a beetroot salad to share but before this came we were treated to a variety of breads, three butters and a trout cracker. This undersells it all. The garlic bread was traditional black bread - tasty and moreish. The salad was unbelievable - did I spot raspberry, cucumber, leaves, nuts, blueberries? Together it was a real creation and all of it was beautifully presented. Together it made a substantial, tasty sharing starter. For main course we both opted for pork chop. Again it sounds plain and boring but with red onion relish and potatoes with an amazing jus it was anything but. We would have this again if visiting Riga. Although we didn’t have a dessert, those we saw looked amazing. We were gifted two beautiful glasses at the end and left two happy customers. Booking looks essential though so don’t miss out. This is a real gem in Riga and our best meal during our stay. The whole experience from start to finish was amazing and felt so special but for a final bill that made our smile even wider.

Myself and my partner tried to get a table on our first evening in Riga but they were fully booked. We were able to book for another evening and are so pleased that we did. I had beef tartare and my partner caramelised goats cheese for starters, they were both amazingly tasteful and extremely well presented. We both had lamb shank for our main course, again it was cooked to perfection and well presented with ample portions. We were so pleased with the food and service that we called the following day for lunch. We both had venison fettuccine which was beautiful and decided to have chocolate fondant for desert which was exquisite. Highly recommend this restaurant and the chef is on par with Michelin starred restaurants I have eaten at.
