About
The restaurant Domini Canes is located in a place of historical significance: in the old town amongst the churches of St. Peter and St. John. From both the summer terrace and the tables within the restaurant you will see the picturesque St. Peter’s. Yet what good would the interior be without an adequate menu? We have given it much thought: our chef has created an interesting selection of contemporary cuisine dishes. The menu is based on seasonally available local products, the riches that the Latvian fields and forests provide, featuring vegetables grown on small Latvian farms and mushrooms and berries picked in the woods.

A lovely place in the heart of old town! Everything was perfect from start to finish! Every dish was beautifully presented and, more importantly, really tasty and filling. The staff was welcoming and friendly and on the whole the atmosphere was very cosy. We were well looked after and would most definitely come back. Highly recommend!

Only being small inside, I'd recommend you book as they were turning people away at the door with almost every table reserved and I can see why. The food, staff and restaurant were all spot on. There was a good selection on the menu and it was reasonably priced for the standard of food and service. Would definitely go back! The atmosphere was lovely and chilled out which I think was due to the size of the restaurant and the lovely friendly staff. The decor was nice and the place was spotless.

A lunch in Riga. Very nice looking, cozy place and friendly staff. Food was excellent, but 4/5 for my main course chicken being just a little under. Two course meal with drinks was around 50 euros so not too bad with this location. Starter (burrata and tomato salad) was very tasty and surprised us as it wasn't anything we'd expected, delicious indeed! Would come again when in Riga!

This is a place everyone has to go past, and should stay that way.
Naturally, we had to wait a while for a table. We quickly ordered a bottle of wine, but it took them 10 minutes to bring it. When we asked for it they seemed angry.
The food looked delicious but tasted nothing. Again, I asked for salt and pepper, waited for 10 minutes, and got it myself in the end...
The mussels were overcooked, tried telling them but they didn't care.
All in all...perfect location but that's about it

My wife and I went here in February to celebrate our first six months of marriage. It was honestly one of the nicest restaurants both of us have visited both in the UK and abroad. The food was great and service amazing. They even gave us complimentary drinks at the end of our evening to try more of Riga, as well as recommending other places and bars to visit. If we ever go to Riga again, we would be sure to visit this restaurant again! Highly recommend!

We sought a seat without making a reservation and the lady working on Friday kindly made a huge effort for us and we popped back at 8pm and we were both glad she did.
The food was delicious and the presentation was so professional, it was a sign of a chef that loved his trade. The staff were so friendly and it was sad to see some customers deliberately using a credit card to avoid giving a tip because this staff deserved to be tipped generously.
We both had an oven cooked duck leg and it was cooked to perfection. For dessert we had chocolate fondant and sea buckthorn panna cotta and both were made perfectly.
Compliments to the chef and of course the staff. Our biggest mistake was not coming back the night after.

We ordered salmon tartare and green salad with shrimp at firat visit and both are delicious and beautiful done. We visited again the next day and the roasted duck leg is still beautifully done. Fish and meat quaility are quite good so it tastes good with just light seasoning though personally I prefer a bit more salt.

We stood without reservation and very spontaneously with seven people at the door of the Domini Canes. The place was clean and really cozy. The staff was very nice. Our waiter was awesome, the staff also worked as a team. The food is exceptional! Very tasty and well prepared.I had the Green salad with tiger prawns, lightly salted trout, avocado, mozzarella, and walnuts, dressed with spicy honey-citrus sauce as a Starter. In the main course I had Pan-fried pikeperch fillet with green-pea purée and mango pistachio tartare.Last but not least I had the Crème brûlée. From the beginning to the end the food tasted great and there was nothing to complain about, just great! Also loved the service at the place everyone is so friendly with the guests and always takes care to offer the best quality! I highly recommend this place.

This was our first visit to Domini Canes and we chose it because of the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor and Google. I have to say that we were disappointed. Very often restaurant reviews are highly subjective so I will try and be as objective as possible.
We visited on a cold Thursday night in January and to our surprise it was full. This I thought was an encouraging sign. On entry there was a nice comfortable feel to the restaurant. The service staff were welcoming, knowledgeable and attentive but not overly so. To start we both ordered mussels although prepared differently. Both dishes were lukewarm at the best although the flavour was good. For main course I ordered venison burger and my wife ordered Teriyaki salmon. The burger was unfortunately very dry but not overcooked. Venison is a very lean meat so a burger will need the addition of some fat. The salmon was ok but as a previous reviewer mentioned, there was too much garnish. For dessert I ordered Sea Buckthorn Panna Cotta which was too firm although again delicious flavour. My wife ordered Creme Brulee. Again the flavour was good but there was far too fruit for the quantity of creme.
We raised our complaints with the service staff and they responded very positively. I suspect we were just unlucky as this restaurant has many many excellent reviews. We will try again sometime in the future

Everything about our visit was excellent. We had not booked but were politely told we could have the table for two hours. Nestled in the old town, it is a cosy and quaint restaurant. Menu is quite short and the wine list is written on a wine bottle. I began with a trout tartare beautifully dressed, my sister had the prawns, a light sweet bread was served with a whipped peppercorn encrusted butter. Two glasses of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc accompanied our starters. My steak was beautifully cooked served with a rich sauce and my sister's venison was succulent and delicious. A bottle of Malbec was the perfect partner to these meals.
Service was attentive without being over the top and I loved the handwritten bill.

I decided to go to this restaurant based on the reviews. It was a really disappointing experience. The food was tasteless - I can do a more tasteful lamb and I'm not a specialist in cooking. The shrimp salad the same. The fish the same. It lacked even good old salt!! At least the dessert a d wine were good enough. But I wouldn't recommend it especially when there are so many other restaurants nearby.

Booked a table here for our first night in Riga. Very friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Service was quick and the food was amazing! My partner had the mussels to start, the portion size was good and the sauce was very tasty. Mains were the duck with pea puree and veg (tasted amazing) and sea trout with baked avocado ( it was seeing this dish on the menu which made us choose this restaurant and it did not disappoint). For dessert we had the chocolate fondant and the apple pie, both were superb and I would definitely recommend the apple pie to anyone thinking of coming here! Very reasonably price for the quality of food. We will be returning on any future trips to Riga.

We were in Riga close to our wedding anniversary, so chose this restaurant for our celebration dinner and we weren’t disappointed. The tiger prawns and duck liver pate for starters were both excellent (a huge amount of pate for the toast provided) and I definitely won with the pork ribs for mains, although there were no complaints from my wife about the sea bass, either.
The atmosphere was conducive to a romantic dinner, with low lighting and the service was excellent - efficient without being intrusive.

My boyfriend and I checked out this restaurant online and decided to visit. Menu is totally different online than at the restaurant. We ended up going somewhere else as they didn't serve the foods we wanted. Also menu is quite limited and pricey.

Hello Mimmuvai,
We appreciate your review. And yes, you're right, our online menu didn't match the one we have in the restaurant at the moment. But, this is because we've been open only for a short while after being in quarantine and still have to finalise quite a few things. As of today - IT has fixed everything and menu on the website matches the one in the restaurant. Also, as we don't have many visitors at the moment, we have chosen to have less options on the menu so we can serve qualitative and fresh food. Seven starters, seven mains and two desserts is a pretty good choice for tasty, freshly prepared food. Also, during weekends we offer a special dish from the chef. As for the prices, they're lower than most restaurants in the old city and you can enjoy a lovely view over St. Peter's church. We're very sorry that you've had a bad experience in our restaurant and we do apologize.

I asked the waitress for any recommendations of local food and she immediately mentioned that they don't serve local food. I ordered the seafood risotto and it was cooked well. The local beer was OK. The place was cosy and I was the only person dining on an early afternoon. Service was OK.
