B Bar Restaurant is located in the old town near the beautiful Dome Church, and this gives the place a special charm. Here, a good restaurant is combined with a modern bar featuring DJs and dancing on weekends. The bar offers Riga Black Balsam tastings and the bartenders will make, possibly, the best cocktails in Riga. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the best of European and Latvian cuisine, with dishes made from locally grown products. We came when happy hour was still in effect until 6 p.m. and treated ourselves to two different gin and tonics for EUR 11 each, of which you get two for the price of one. The young man serving us was very friendly and gave us good advice. Later we had a portion of very delicate tiger prawns as an appetizer and very tender octopus arms and duck liver pate as tapas. All three dishes had the best consistency, were very tasty, in good portions and were good value for money. It's a pleasant place to sit, mostly a good crowd, good music. If we had drunk wine, there would have been some good wines at very fair prices. Highly recommended!

we were skeptical at first, a relatively dark restaurant right next to the cathedral. Tourist trap? We went in hungry. Service was attentive. Menu had to be downloaded to the phone using a scan code. Small menu. Grilled salmon fillet with fried cauliflower in a seed crust was excellent, papardelle with chicken fillet strips was also delicious. Prices OK, only the bottle of water was too expensive at almost €6. The disco ball that was lighting up the bar area was a nuisance.

Amazing staff welcomed us with our two dogs (one of them small horse size). The food was exceptionally delicious, recommend dry aged Sirloin steak. Combining great food with delicious food, overall great atmosphere!

I’d like to preface that I’m not often inclined to write negative reviews. However, my experience at this restaurant left me uncomfortable to the point of tears. I arrived for the business lunch offering, choosing this place over my other plans due to what I felt was a great deal. After sitting on the patio (there is a fee, heads up) I asked for the lunch special main meal with dessert. This is meant to come with water, bread and butter, a drink, the entree, and dessert. I first receive the entree. It was just ok. The ribs were far too fatty for my liking. I wondered what happened with the bread and butter, but decided to drop it. I later get my lemonade and ask for the table water. After about 20 minutes, the waiter comes over with the bill asking how I’ll pay. I inquire about the dessert that I was patiently waiting for. He tells me that he can charge me for it if I want it. I say that I thought it was included in the special. He then explained the cost of the entree (which had a 1 euro up charge), drink, service fee in a very demeaning tone. I completely understand how the math adds up, but didn’t understand what was lost with me wanting to receive the lunch special. I ended up paying more money for less food. Since already felt uncomfortable I decided to just pay and leave. When observing other patrons around me, I noticed other tables that didn’t order in English (I feel it’s safe to assume they spoke in Latvian?) were getting all the elements of the lunch special. The waiter even checked on them throughout their meal with a smile. It pains me to say this, but I feel the behavior exhibited was discriminatory. I later found other comments similar to my experience about the treatment of English speaking customers. As someone coming to Latvia to educate myself and grow from travel with an open-mindset, I found this situation to be inexcusable.

Good food, terrible service

First time at this place. Just wanted a beer and snacks. Two young waitresses at the entrance were very friendly. We were offered blanket since it was a little chilly outside. Good experience ended at this moment because few minutes later a male waiter approached our table to take our order. He had a very unhappy face and did not even say Hello. We started to speak first and order. He did not say a word except asked if grilled calamari will be a snack or a main course. When he returned with our beers, he just placed the glasses on the table and walked away. Even after simple Thank you - no response from him. This is simply rude behavior. We almost left the place, but then decided to stay because we already ordered. The food, however, was very good. We had grilled calamari and duck pate. The portions were pretty small for the price, but very tasty. Good presentation and combination of condiments. In order for us to visit this place again there have to be different wait service. Such a miserable waiter makes this place not welcoming. We did not even leave any tip, which is very uncommon for us.

Did not meet the expectations!

I can't recommend. We reserved a table for 12 people and some had to sit on the floor. The food was of poor quality, the salmon was really dry. Also, one of us got the wrong portion and had to wait so long that the others had already eaten. Music was also too loud and we couldn’t hear each others. We were really disappointed.

Excellent staff, they will make you like the major client in the entire world. We only had drinks there, though visited this place not once. Whe waiter Niko is the most exceptional and one of the best waiters that i have seen during all my trips around the world!

A bar popular with locals despite its touristic location, which is usually a good sign. It’s been around for years and the menu quite frankly feels a bit outdated. Do people still order B52? The drinks were Ok, but could do with a little more effort on the signature cocktails part.

Sitting outside gets billed

We had a tagliatelle w/fruit de mer, penne w/chicken, and a Cesar's salad. All food was nice, and we didn't wait to long for it. The red wine was ok, a bottle of Sicilian red which was to cold and should have been decanted, it was pretty dull. If you sit outside you'll get billed for it, I don't know why maybe because they pay rent for the space? I checked the inside but it was dark, bit crowded and didn't seem to be a nice place to dine, there was a smell of detergents and I can't tell what else. You'll sure find a nicer and more affordable place to dine, as the pricing was in the higher end.

Amazing tasting menu

We arrived with no reservation, but were promptly taken to a seat. Would of been nice to have a physical menu to look at, but online worked okay. We all opted for the 3 course tasting menu with wine pairing. There were some confusions as to the paired wine- perhaps language barrier or that it was exceptionally busy, but after explaining to the waiter how the wine should be served in order with each course, he understood and was apologetic. The food was excellent, and the wine perfectly matched to the courses. The vibe was fantastic.

Bad service! Never came by to ask if the food was good, or to ask if we wanted something else. After a shor houre, they just gave us the check, without us asking for it. They also added a 10% tips on the bill, wich I don’t wanted to give, due to the lack of service.

Vibrant location, exceptional food. Recommend the potato cakes as starter, sea food pasta and napoleon filp pastry for desert . One man server tonight who stayed calm and pleasant despite the business of the place. Will return next visit to Riga.

Awesome place, the service is really high quality. Salad just perfect, fondant as well. Also got chef’s compliment (riga balsam&juice shot) - but after saying we are currently not drinking alcohol - they brought as chef’s compliment alcohol free. Just a sweet and caring guesture ☺️ P.S. Awesome location, on a side on Dome Cathedral P.P.S. Just be aware of not that pleasant street smell (sometimes, depending on wind direction) if you are eating outside

Lovely restaurant

We had lunch with 40+ people and it was a great experience! The staff was very friendly, the level of service was very good and the food.. amazing. Best we have had in Riga. We were very surprised that despite the very central (and tourist friendly) location in the Old Town the food was this good. Extra points for being able to facilitate a group of our size. Thanks, we will be back!

Good business lunches

Great bar. Stylish place with excellent business lunches. The main menu is also good. The main emphasis is on steaks. The location is the best, right next to the cathedral. Prices are high. 5.50 for a glass of beer is too much.
