Frozen in time

Located just a step outside centre in a cellar this restaurant seems to be frozen in time (from 70-ies? 80-ies?). But with good quality local food, good portions and good staff. So it is up to visitor - to choose some very posh venue with average (or also posh and expensive) food or this one.

Good old Gubernator! This place is in business for over 20 years and has excellent service! One of the waitresses works there for over 15 years as I meet her everytime I go there. Love their bread platter with flavoured butter selection which comes free before your meal. A good selection of traditional meals! They serve a selection of nice house beers too. I go there every time I am in Daugavpils and hope they do well in the future!

This place will leave a great impression

The food might not be very luxurious, but the interior will leave a great impression. Food was tasty and a big and rich portion. Staff was very nice, very polite, not anoying or anything. We asked if we could look around at all those interesting items in the room, staff agreed and even showed us ghe VIP room (for private evebts) where even more items were exponated. Deffinitely recommend it

Questionable service

In the beginning waitress was very friendly. Waiting time was long, but there were many visitors. When I have received my soup, I have found in it piece of plastic. While waitress was finishing serving table next to us, I have asked her to come to me as well. She replied in a rude manner that she will come to our table later, that she is very busy and cannot serve all tables simultaneously. When finally she came to us, she took my soup back, suggested to order same dish or other, but waiting time was too long. Plus to that we have received the wrong tea that we ordered. Also, one ordered dessert was forgotten and we have waited for that extra 15 minutes. Unfortunately, we have not received any polite apology for caused inconvenience. Only that it is so hectic now and mistakes were made on the kitchen, not by waitress. I fully understand that human mistakes are possible, however polite service can be provided in any case.

We went twice to this restaurant. They have an extensive menu - all very reasonably priced and super tasty. Their food is mainly eastern European (including dishes from the Caucasus) and their portions are nice. Service and ambiance are great. The best restaurant we have visited in Daugavpils.

Wonderful reasonably priced meal

Charming cellar restaurant eclectically decorated. Had the house special baked pork in a mustard sauce. Wonderful and inexpensive. Grilled potato and vegetable sides also tasty. Excellent service. Beer, wine and spirits all available. 5 stars!

Business lunch

I went here following the recommendation by a local friend. Due to its vintage interior, it is probably one of most famous restaurants of Daugavpils. It was actually opened in the 2000s but they like the vintage look. It was lunch time during the week so I asked for their business lunch. I had one soup and the main dish of the day which was chicken with mashed potatoes, plus one Coca Cola. All this only for 5 euro because of the business lunch deal. So I cannot complain.

Nice place no service

The place is amazing. The menu is mile long. The food is good/ok. But the staff. I think I was invisible or unwanted person. They totally ignored you. No smile or questions about the food or desert etc. No smile ? This place seems not to be for tourists - only for local people.

Unprofessional and rude staff. Was planning to have a lunch with my family of 4, got an unprofessional service, 2 girls wad rude, then we just left the place. 👎

Disappointed with staff

We been refused to be served hot food.only salad or soup.but we entered 1.5 hour before closure. We notice that other people have just received hot food and waitresses been whispering that they don’t want to serve all food.

Chicken Kiev was pretty good and accompanied by frozen fries. Nothing special. Potato soup was good but the Ceps (mushrooms) dominated as the potatoes were no where to be found. The chicken salad was a bit odd but taste was fine. Attentive table service. OK prices.

Nice service and not too high prices. The appearance of the pub is also not bad. It is modeled on the cellars. I drank all kinds of ciders there, which I liked. A good place to meet friends.
